Clearly this means it will be released April 19. Take this date of the showcase, add 15 days to it because two weeks + one day = 15.

Htc just posted on facebook that ICS is released for vivid. ATT website confirms it with os 4.0 listed on their support site as well.

Well thats a really good sign...Since ATT successfully integrated all their crap into the phone, Sprint shouldn't be far behind (hopefully)

So how many of you are checking for software updates every day, even though your phone does that automatically for you?

By the time ICS lands on the Evo 3D, I'll be heading to buy the Evo One X (or whatever it will end up being called).

I wonder if the Vivid got a jump start from the GSM models being ready first. If true, our wait time is reducing.

Yeah me too I'm heavy into the EVO brand I got the origin 4g EVO loved it then the EVO 3d no other phone has suited my liking or needs so EVO it is!!! And when they come out with whatever EVO is next il be sure to upgrade asap!! Just sucks cause the 3vo isn't LTE and still no ICS and I'm locked in now until 2013 before upgrade eligible cause i got my 1year upgrade after fighting for it when Sprint changed it months ago to get the 3d EVO... I just want ICS Damnit lol

The Evo got Gingerbread before we got the 3vo, so I still say we'll be getting ics before the One X type Evo hits.

Meanwhile, I think I'll give an ICS theme a shot with MeanROM.

Considering the Vivid just got it recently, and on AT&T at that, we should get it in just a few weeks. My best prediction would be before the end of April. Only 2 phones in the US have ICS at the moment so we should remain patient.

Went to the Sprint Store yesterday to upgrade one of my family members to an iphone. While I was there I asked a guy about ICS. Firstly, he showed me his 3D which had it already on it. I played with it for a tad. He said all signs point to the end of April.

Thats about it.

I knew it..awhile back I posted news I had heard from a friend who works at Walmart and he was the manager of the store...well the Sprint rep always gave him demo phones to show off to people to try and persuade them to buy this "new model" phone...and well he's huge into ICS etc... Just like all of us and he originally got the EVO 3d as a demo phone that was fully connected to Sprint and working like normal not the stupid fake phones that retailers have...im talking a real Sprint EVO 3d not a fake won't turn on demo phone...so anyways he went to system updates..and he got the ICS 4.0 update on this phone which was a Sprint reps phone so Sprint reps and employees have had ICS on their personal phones for quite some time now! But when i originally posted that same thought everyone on here thought I WAS blowing smoke up my own a$$ and I WAS not I WAS being 100% serious and i wouldn't waste my time trying to fool someone and get there hopes up for nothing cause trust me iv wanted ICS since I heard about it when my original EVO 4g got gingerbread hence why on day 1 of the EVO 3d release I WAS there at 8am to pick up my brand new EVO 3d and iv had it since day 1 !! So hopefully ICS comes soon cause I'm sick of watching ICS go to all these other phones and not our 1 of a kind 3vo's!!! Screw the vivid like at&t is the absolute worst company and especially for pushing out updates for android like i couldn't believe they beat Verizon and Sprint for this update to a different phone other then the galaxy nexus on Verizon I WAS truthfully at a loss for words... !!!!! Ugh fml can we eat our ice cream yet.....

I wouldn't doubt if it was a real update. A relevant story : when I worked at Staples I got a copy of Windows 7 a month before it was officially released. Even though ICS is a mobile OS, I would believe that representatives of the software would get it ahead of time. I'm sure ICS is ready for prime-time but Sprint are probably just combing over it for possible bugs. I would rather see no update than a terrible one.

With the announcement about htcsense.com could this mean we'll be getting ICS after April 30th?

I don't think it's tied to that. It's the website that is changing, not the service on the phone. Also the Vivid already has it so we shouldn't have to wait until after April. That's saying that it will be released soon.

We should steal acquire (through nefarious means, if need be) those Sprint employee's Evo 3Ds with ICS and extract the ROM from it and post it.

And by we, I mean one of you guys

Not necessarily. HTC recently announced that they conceded the point that Sense got cluttered. Article can be seen here: http://www.theverge.com/2012/3/2/2840336/htc-sense-ui-got-cluttered-redesign

The annoucement on htcsense.com could just be a part of the 'spring cleaning' and have no impact on ICS release dates. As the services related to htcsense.com are contacts, footprint data, and other various services, not the actual skin itself. It'd be a little late in the game for massive renovations now.

Yes, Spring cleaning indeed. Likely no relation to Ice Cream Sandwich releases, and more likely correlated to Sense 4.0 and the release of the One Series of handsets?

HTC has stated that they want to update and streamline their services plus reinvigorate and push the HTC Hub going forward (HTCSense.com's portal to our phone - you can't use the Hub Application on your phone without a HTCSense.com log in).

Since we are probably getting Sense 3.6 with our Ice Cream Sandwich, the HTCSense.com changes probably will not effect us much and will instead be optimized for Sense 4.0 only phones and the HTC One series?

HTC HUB allows users to download relevant content that makes their device more useful and their lives more efficient, organized, and entertaining. Most importantly for you, HTC Hub allows you to get better market reach, better visibility, and more downloads."
Also check out HTCHub.com. Looks like a possible placeholder, with One X in the preview picture on the browser navigation bar?
(Not to be confused with HTC-Hub.com - French/EU News Site that centers around HTC community and rumors)

Maybe I'm just reading into things too far just like the next guy who knows...

But didn't the HTC Vivid get Sense 4.0 with their ICS update a few days ago?! Why would they not put Sense 4.0 into our phones update as well?

No, unfortunately the HTC Vivid received Sense 3.6 just like the HTC Sensation before it. We can only guess that we are likely to follow the same track until we get official info from Sprint.

HTC Vivid Ice Cream Sandwich update starting to trickle out | Android Central

You must be confusing Sense 4.0 and Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich. Which is an easy mistake to make when everything has a revision number. I think we need more revision numbers, and some useless acronyms for good measure

I'm betting Sense 4.0 is reserved for the newest HTC handsets to show them as a marketing tactic. It's 'new' when the HTC One comes out, so makes it much more appealing.

Then, a month or so later, I bet we get whatever widgets and other things that separate 4.0 from 3.6 through HTC Hub.

Went to the store for a 3V0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The guy at King Soopers said they are out of stock at the moment but to check back on the 19th of April for their new shipment. Take it for what it's worth.

Did the Vivid have Beats before the update?

Never mind I found the answer. I guess they did not have it. Wonder if we can get it as well.

We will. It's just a software enhancement though, and one only noticed when you have headphones plugged into. I am curious on how much better it does sound compared to the SRS the phone already has, considering good sound comes from good hardware. Guess we'll just see!

It makes a noticeable difference. Not a huge difference, but you can hear it. There are a number of ROMs for the Evo 3D that include Beats.

I enjoyed this recent article from Tiger Beat*ahem, I mean* VentureBeat.com

I'm not very familiar with them as a source so don't forget to keep your head screwed on straight, but as expected things sound pretty good post Ice Cream Sandwich.

Ice Cream Sandwich: Android 4.0 & HTC Vivid performance | VentureBeat

Overall it sounds like a better Web and browsing experience, a slight up-tick in processing power, and a tad better battery endurance.

Don't 'go all in' for Benchmark stats or writers boastings, and always remember results WILL vary.

Any improvement over the current battery usage will be greatly appreciated. I mean Android needs to kick the individual carriers out of their software and make it so all versions are vanilla and let us decide what apps we want and leave it at that so everything is universal for app developers to work on. Hardware manufacturers need to make their good to meet Androids OS. God if we only lived in a perfect world.....

The HTC EVO 3D's won't see ICS(ice cream sandwich) no sooner than June. This I will make a significant bet on.

I'm thinking we might get it a lot sooner than June...HTC and ICS are already proved to work together with the release on the Vivid...So I'm sure Sprint has a version of it as well, so once they get all their Sprint crap incorporated into it, it should be released with no problems...I'm thinking the only reason we still haven't gotten it has to be something with making ICS, and Sense 3.6 work with the 3D functions, if that is even an issue...or its just being held up for business reasons

3D functions is only a part of it. Don't forget WiMAX. If the rooting community, specifically the AOSP ROMs for the Evo 3D are any indication, those two features are not something you can just whip up. Considering all of the articles I've seen that say ICS was pretty much a complete rebuild for phones, I wouldn't be surprised if Sprint/HTC wanted to take their time and give everything some long testing times to make sure everything is good.

So I'd be surprised if the roll out for the update happened before May. June would be the high end of that expectation time. If it happens sooner, awesome, but I'm not counting on it.

Thats true...forgot about WiMAX...seeing how the only two phones in the U.S. with 4.0 are LTE phones...thats gunna be something they have to work on. I would think mid/late April-mid May sounds about right

Not worried about WiMax, thinking of trading in the HTC EVO 3D for the HTC One if/when it gets here. I'd like some LTE on my plate as I can't get WiMax anyways. It'd be nice to pay for a service I can use :/

if WiMax is causing the delays- then wouldn't European HTC evo 3d owners have the ICS update by now since our evo's don't include the 4G capability?

That also assumes that they are working on the GSM version before or concurrent with the CDMA version. Or it could be that the 3D driver is what really is holding everything back. Or the Evo 3D, in general, isn't as high of a priority as other devices, like the Vivid and the Sensation. I'm assuming there are a lot of variables to which device gets updated, and when. Most of which we don't have any solid info on. So we're all just guessing, really.

According to the "new upcoming" phone list for Sprint, the HTC EVO ONE(LTE) is listed for a June 6th release date...and I believe the old EVO4G got its software update around the time the EVO3D was released...so just basing it off that, the ICS update should come around that time, if not before that (hoping)...but like said before...who knows

The HTC Rezound is getting it's on the 6th. Not sure if that means anything for us. Probably not.

It just means HTC is following their pattern...every week they've released it for a new phone so far...
