Default Moving on to another handset.

Well, looks like my run with the Evo 3D as my main device is coming to an end. Tomorrow, my wife and I will be receiving our new Droid RAZRs and are switching to Verizon. I was able to opt out of my Sprint contract because of the pricing structure change of my bill. It affected my discount. I don't necessarily want to leave Sprint, but I'm getting tired of horrible data speeds, dropped calls, poor reception in high reception areas, and a 3 hour phone call to customer service that should've ended way before that.

All in all, I've been pretty happy, but am excited and looking very forward to my new toy. I'm still going to use my 3D, but probably just as an MP3 player and get my ROM fix every now and then. Thanks alot to everyone who's been there for me whenever I needed a kick in the right direction.

DonB... You're one of the most helpful dudes I know. You've been a real example of how to be helpful on any forum. I especially thank you for all you've done... Even from the Hero days bro.

Sorry to see you go, but you have to look forward to your new endeavor, hope you will still pop in and say hello, and remember we are always here to help no matter what phone or carrier you are on. Good luck and keep us posted how you like the Verizon Network, we usually see that the grass greener on the other side when we have issues, but such is not always the case, IMO all carriers have their issues. I hope the Verizon experience works out for you. I always tell members it always depends where you live and to find the carrier that works best in that area. Also let us know how you like the Droid Raz.

The people in my area that do have Verizon all say they get really good reception. One instance that comes to mind is when my friend and I are walking through Walmart and he can carry a conversation throughout the entire store while I have to find a sweet spot to start roaming... On Verizon's network. I think what it comes down to is I was just ready for a change just to see how their service really is. Another problem was my bill. I'll get a discount on Verizon because of where I work. After applying that discount to my Verizon bill, and looking at my current Sprint bill with a smaller discount that I already have applied, the totals are virtually identical.

I will definitely pop in here and there. I'm going to keep my 3D at least for a little while. I'll use it to play with new ROMs every now and then. I don't want to root the RAZR right away. I found that where it felt like rooting the Hero was almost a necessity, the 3D not so much. The only real benefit to me was using certain apps like Titanium and Root Explorer. I'm going to try and stay stock for as long as possible. The fact that there isn't that much development on the RAZR right now really helps.

Anyway, much love to everyone.

There isn't much development for the RAZR because of the locked bootloaders :\

But, from what I've seen, the RAZR is a solid device. VZW also does have better service, in regards to coverage. When I first got my Evo 3D, I thought there was something wrong with it because it was so slow. Now my speeds are acceptable (the towers have improved in this area). I left because my bill was over $100 / mo for the cheapest plan they would offer me. But if you can get them to around the price point of Sprint, then more power to you.

Best of luck. I have a feeling that you're going to miss the unlimited data plans though.

I can personally say that IMO, the "unlimited" data Sprint brags about... Is very, very disappointing. I know the advertise that they don't throttle, but I find that a little hard to believe when I'm getting perfect signal, using Pandora for almost an hour, then all of a sudden I start getting 1x service while still maxed out on on 3G. I am rooted and the ROM I run shows 1x whenever I'm getting that kind of signal. Not to mention, this always happens we I start using a data heavy app that streams.

Default Last one out, turn out the lights. Abandoned 3VO for LTE

After the 3VO was announced, I was a Sprint Premiere member to get mine before release. After almost 2 years, I bought a EVO 4G LTE for the Jelly Bean update.

I still love the 3D feature. The 3Vo will live on as a wi-fi device in my home. Sniff.

I know people complain about the data speeds on Sprint, but I consistently get around 1 Mbps to 1.5 Mbps on 3G. With Wi-Max it is even better at anywhere from 10 Mbps to 20 Mbps.

I know it varies by location, but I have always been very pleased with my data speeds. Oh well, just my two cents on the subject.

Default Data Speeding in Chicagoland

I have never had issue with Sprint data speeds in my area. The 3G is okay, good enough, and the 4G was blazing. The 4G LTE on the new phone is as good as the old 4G, but I don't see it as exceeding it in any way for my use.

The new phone is cool, but there are some annoying bugs to work out. The 3VO was bug free nearly always, and at the end. I let it go for battery age and looking for Jelly Bean. I won't go back to the 3Vo, but the EVO LTE is not a giant upgrade. It's nice, with a sharp screen and snappy OS. I like the lighter weight and bigger screen. I wish it worked as well as the 3VO did, but that will be sorted out.
