Mad Newly repaired Evo3D will not activate - Error code 68 & 1012

I had posted a thread on here a bit ago regarding my Evo3D locking up. Come to find out, the motherboard was bad and HTC had replaced it. I also had a dead pixel and HTC replaced the digitizer, screen and outer black surround. Took me three times and a month and a half of sending it out to have everything fixed.

Now, I've got my phone back and spoke with Sprint to activate it on Wednesday, and I have no data services, but the phone and basic text messaging work. I've spent at least two days now trying to figure out a solution with Sprint and HTC but they're both just pointing fingers at each other, and Sprint wants to send me a refurb - which I do not want since my phone is only about two months old!

What's happening is when it tries to complete the "Hands Free Activation," I keep receiving error codes 68 and 1012 - Data Call Failure. We've tried to reset the data profile, update profile, hard reset and had a Sprint tech try to manually program the phone.

While I was at the repair center yesterday, the tech got 4G to work and the internet and data seemed to work fine. Where I live, I have no chance of getting 4G. I'm in the sticks! I am not even getting 3G at this point, have no internet access without wifi, and cannot send a picture message. The HTC tech support I just spoke with a few minutes ago told me that it's not a problem with the phone since I was able to get 4G and data on 4G, and that it's a Sprint network issue.

Just spoke with Sprint's online chat as well and they're telling me it's an issue with their towers and that is not expected to be fixed until June!!

Figured I'd come here to ask and see if any of you have had this problem and if there is anyway to fix it, or have Sprint fix it.

I want to thank you all in advance. I know it's a long read but I've had nothing but problems with this phone and Sprint for the two months of my new contract.

EDIT - Showing error 98 now when I tried to update profile.

Update...

I visited another store today, and they could not get my Evo3D working. Told me there were 8 towers that are being worked on and it's mid July before they'll be fixed. The rep also told me that the phone is receiving absolutely no data what-so-ever. I'm lost.

So, I had them try and activate my HTC Arrive (3G Phone) to see if that would work, and connect to the network. It activated perfectly and I have data services.

I spoke with HTC again and after an hour on the phone, they escalated my issue and I am supposed to be receiving a call back within 3 days from them regarding this issue. Problem is, if I send it back and it's actually fine, and the issue is with Sprint, I'll be charged up to $39 I believe they said for the repair "technicians" to look at it.

I've read some posts on I believe the XDA forums that some users have had luck with activating another phone, then going back to their "droids." So, I might try this tomorrow as I'm on the HTC Arrive right now.

Does it ever end with Sprint?

I would call account services, not customer service, same number but simply ask for account services, and explain to them all the issues you are having, and demand a new phone, or you want out of your contract for buyers remorse, you are tired of all the run around and you demand a resolution to this matter, you have spent enough time on this

I've tried and tried to get a new phone out of them. They want to get me a refurb. Which I'm not too comfortable with since the phone is <2 months old and been in repair for 1.5 months of that. I was sold a lemon, literally. Bad motherboard, bad screen, now the radio is not working.

Now, HTC wants to fight me about it as well even though they told me they if I had sent it to repair three times and it still was not fixed that they would then escalate it to corporate and go from there. What happens with corporate is beyond me since they never answered me on that question. Anyway, I'm waiting for the "call back" from them still.

I went ahead and tried re-activating the Evo3D and it's still receiving errors. The phone is screwed, no doubt about it. HTC screwed something up while repairing it.

try calling and activating the phone over a land line, I had to do this for my old HTC Hero when it would not activate itself...they force sent a signal to it by me giving them some number that was located under the battery...

I had it activated by a rep on their sprint.com chat today. I think the rep at the store yesterday tried to "force" something to the phone but it wasn't work what-so-ever he said.

Is it working now? If not, I would call Account Services and ask for a manager. What you've gone through is ridiculous. They should credit you or something for all of the headaches they've given you.

Nope, same issues. Error #98 I believe and 1012. It's not pulling any data from the network.

Going to wait until I hear back from HTC's "advanced techs" to see what they tell me. Sprint is just going to offer me a refurbished phone and maybe credit me $10 for the extra data package. -sigh-

Don't hold your breath for a call back from HTC, they are a little slow
