That is because you were rooted and you took the OTA update, now you are not rooted anymore

Looks like it is a feature that you lost once you updated to ICS and did a FR

Unhappy ICS update for HTC EVO 3D

HI,
is anyone experiencing this issue? i dont see this one posted yet.
i get into my phone and choose to go to messages or any other function. when you close out of the function you see a white screen with the green letters "HTC". then loading. it reloads the phone every time you change what you are doing on it.
anyone know how to fix this?

What is the "ATR" section? I'm surprised the devs haven't released the stock ICS ROM yet. Thought it would be almost immediate following Sprints OTA release.

My curiosity usually gets the better of me and since I am a glutton for punishment and like beating dead horses...
Can anyone that did the update check to see if the shutter sound can be turned off when using the camera (either an option in the camera menu, or go into the camera with the phone on vibrate/silent)?

I was curious about this too and, unfortunately, you still cannot disable the shutter sound even if you put the camera in silent or vibrate mode.

Same here. Pandora on 3G shows the "Loading" rectangle and just loads one song after another without playing. It works on WiFI.

If I view a text message from the notification bar it takes me to lock screen first. A lot of things seem to move slightly smoother though. I like the new vertical scroll menu when you long press the home key.

Wrong, this was befor I rooted. When honeycomb had the last update you were able to delete some items like Spiderman game, green lantern, some sprint apps. Again this was before I rooted. I just rooted 2 weeks ago. Lost phone got this one today already updated. But not able to delete like before. Really didn't want to root again.

Yes, ICS does not allow you to delete bloat, thus the reason why I said you took the OTA, meaning you updated to ICS, GB was not a problem, but for some reason they took that feature off from ICS, I do not know why, but many have said the same issue.

I cannot confirm yet, but I would assume the HTC Dev way should still work, if I hear anything I will report back, I would also get S-OFF if I were will make your life much easier, we will keep you posted if we hear anything, and you let us know also if you do finally get it rooted.

One thing I didn't like so far that they combined ringer and notifications volume settings. Had to decrease volume of my MP3 custom notification file.

Default Fixing Some Issues After ICS Update

DonB and all the wise ones on this forum. Thanks for all the help you give! Please chime in if you have any input / insight on this post. I just updated to ICS and had some small issues getting the update to act correctly. Meaning the download and install went fine until the home screen came up and it stuck on the "Loading" for about 30 minutes. I rebooted the phone and it came up quickly but I had lost my stock clock widget and a few others. The were not available in the widgets section. I know some may not be compatible and I'll work through that, no biggie. Gallery would not show any photos from the SD, wallpapers, etc. I know that from the HeroS days that FR is a good thing but reading about loosing some apps and gaining back BW, (I gained alot of memory back with this update by loosing BW), I just was not wanting to do a FR. ANywho I remembered that sometimes just a good old battery pull and 30 second power button press can do wonders. Well it did. Once rebooted after the battery pull I go the "You have updated", blah, blah box. My Clock widget returned and my SD gallery and etc is working. In your opinion(s) could this be a good option for those that have not updated and or FR'ed yet. Seems to have worked fine for me. Thanks again for the mods, guides, and EVERYONE else who contributes to the community here.

I will say something positive about ICS. My phone is a lot faster, smoother than before. It is like having a new phone again. Sure some minor issues with BS sprint loaded crapware. But over all this is nice.

My thoughts exactly.

This will hold me up until the 5 year anniversary Nexus phones come out

I was going to ask about this... I still haven't taken the plunge and rooted yet, I was thinking of taking the OTA and playing with ICS for a while before making the final decision to root or not. I guess I'll hold off on the OTA update till it is confirmed that we can still use HTC Dev.

I apologize if this has been addressed...I went to change the radio values to 'WCDMA only' because I noticed call quality was lacking and I was able to do so but at the bottom of the phone info it says: '0.0.0.0 not allowed' I assume that's for the vocoder settings??? Should I type in a port proxy number somewhere?? Next to smsc? When I update or refresh smsc it just shows an error...Should I just leave smsc alone?

Default 2D camera not working properly after android update

hi

few weeks ago i updated my htc evo 3D and now i have android 4.0.3 with htc sense 3.6, because my phone had asked me to do it, however few day ago I've noticed that my 2D camera is not working properly, there is no problem with 3D camera, but when i switch to 2D mode the image instead of being a normal picture seems to try being 3D but its not, image is doubled, does anybody have similar problems? Do you know what can i do to repair this? because its very annoying that i cant take normal pictures, i tried to make print/screen, but i couldnt work it out

Hard to say as everytime they release a new update many seem to have issues, I would first try to trouble shoot, have you tried the obvious first, put the phone 2D mode, then take the battery out for 10 seconds and then reinsert and reboot your phone ?, see if that resolves the issue, are you using the stock camera? if yes try download a different app and see if it works, third and not what you want to hear, doing a Factory Reset sometimes resolves all issues. Then if all else fails, I would suggest you call Sprint and make them aware of this issue, they will most likely replace your phone

Again, has anyone else had call quality issues and changed the radio to WCDMA only? Why can't we use 0.0.0.0 as a port proxy when we go to phone info under *#*#4636#*#*??? Does anyone understand the question? Sorry if it's a dumb question. Any clue??

Since ICS, some of my apps are giving me an error message when they try to update. Something like "invalid package." Sometimes it will give me an "insufficient storage" error as well. I really haven't tried anything yet to fix it, but it is quite irritating.

The apps doing this are Go Launcher Ex and Evernote.

Any ideas?

I'm having a small issue. I just updated to ICS about an hour ago, and it seems to have worked fine..but when I load the stock messaging app, I get a "Please Wait" message that won't go away..I tried restarting.

Several of us had that issue. Leave it plugged in and set to not go to sleep, and let it sit there. Could take half an hour or more. It seems that once it loads, it works fine. Other solution is find the largest thread and delete it. You will have to do the same thing with waiting, and it doesn't always show that it is doing anything, but it will eventually delete, then everything should be fine.

Hopefully that is what your problem is. Seems to have been for everyone that has reported that problem anyway.

Hmm, alright, I've been giving that a go for a while now. It's on the charger, screen awake, sitting on the Please Wait message for well over an hour now..I'll keep it on and see if it changes.

I can't delete a thread either because the Please Wait message appears as soon as I load the app.

EDIT- 3 hours later, it's finally done. Seems to be working now. Thanks

I've just noticed another oddity since updating to ICS. When I am at home, I turn my wifi on and mobile data off. My mobile data has been turning itself on. So far, I'm not sure exactly what triggers it, just that when it wake it up after a while, mobile data is back on. I will have to keep a closer eye on it to see if I can figure out what circumstances make it happen.

Greetings to all (especially Don B who helped me many times w my rooted Hero) I just did the update to ICS yesterday and only have minor issues. First was the Gallery did not show up - found a thread about that and now it's hunky dory. I am used to having 3 separate email icons for my 3 accts. Used to just go to shortcuts - select email (or mail) and then select which account the shortcut was for. ICS does not offer Mail or email as a shortcut option. Any thoughts out there? Is there another way to do this?

Default How do i remove bookmarks from syncing w google?

I have no idea when this actually happened, but i just updated to ICS today and when i was looking through everything i realized that i have ALL of my bookmarks from google on my phone now... before i only had a handful that i used ocassionally on my phone and now i have a TON that are from my computer. I enter lots and lots of contests daily and cycle the bookmarks out as they expire and now they are all on my phone. Ugh. How do i get rid of all of these without having to manually delete all of these individually? Thanks for your help guys!

I am confused, I am rooted and by mistake took the ota update, which didnt work, as my phone was still in android 2.3.4, and not 4.0.3, but my phone is still rooted. So how do I update my phone if the ota update doesnt work for me?

I think it was feature of Amaze camera, not EVO 3D stock camera.

When I come home my 3VO automatically connects to my home WiFi. I put in on my desk and plug into the charger. After 3 minutes it goes to sleep. When I wake it up it shows 3G, and 10 seconds later it switches back to WiFi. It was doing the same before ICS update.

This is probably by design.

No, that part I am used to seeing. What I am talking about is, Mobile Data actually turns itself on after I have turned it off manually, whether wifi is on or not.

I go to my settings, and turn Mobile Data off. I put my phone to sleep for 5 or 10 seconds, then wake it up. Mobile data is still turned off. Put it to sleep for 5 minutes and wake it up, and mobile data STILL shows up as being off. Put it to sleep and wake it up 30 minutes later, and mobile data shows up as being on within my settings, as well as with the widget toggle.

This isn't a case of the Wifi going to sleep and the mobile data being active for a few seconds until Wifi wakes back up. Mobile data is physically being turned on without interaction from me after I have manually disabled it.

That never happened prior to the update to ICS, and I can see no possible reason for it to be that way by design. I KNOW that this didn't occur prior to ICS because I always turn my mobile data off when I am at home, and on several occasions, I have forgotten to turn it back on when I leave the house, making it so that my GPS maps don't work, because it can't find the network.

Hopefully that clears up the confusion about what situation I am seeing.

Adar, I got it. But what is the reason/purpose to turn Mobile Data off?

I guess to minimize data usage (for folks without unlimited plans)
or to use the more battery efficient WiFi
or to avoid being disturbed in the night by notifications/Emails (assuming user doesn't want to take another step to turn off those notifications)

I turn the mobile data off purely for battery saving. When I am at home, I get only 1 or 2 bars (despite having a tower literally 2 blocks from my house). This causes me to use an inordinate amount of battery. OK, that may be a bit of hyperbole. However, it is a noticeable increase in battery use if I leave mobile data on. Technically, it shouldn't really matter. When I have the Wifi on, it shouldn't be USING the 3g, so my battery savings are minimal. Due to the behavior of the 3G coming on when Wifi goes to sleep, it DOES tend to end up eating my battery more than I want it to. Now, part of it is probably due to background data, and the various polling that it does for things like email and Facebook.

It isn't really a huge problem per se. Just that the behavior is not what it used to be, and I can see no logical reason for it to behave this way. mobile data should NEVER turn on by itself when I have specifically turned it off. In my case, it is simply a battery saving ploy as to why I turn the mobile data off. For others, it may be due to data usage, or preventing annoying notifications while sleeping, as someone else suggested. Regardless of the reason that someone turns off mobile data, there is no excuse for it to turn itself on without user interaction. I haven't tested this yet, but think of this as a possible situation. What happens if I put the phone in airplane mode, and after it goes to sleep for a while, it turns the mobile data back on? Wouldn't you see that as being a problem?

All in all, this is a pretty minor annoyance to me. Mostly, I was just curios if anyone else has seen the same thing, or if it is something messed up with my phone. I am not rooted, and have no plans to root, so I have no special apps that might be doing it. I don't even have anything like Juice Defender running that might explain wonkiness with radios turning on or off. Possibly something got messed up on my phone when I did the upgrade. It is possible that a factory reset will make the problem go away. A battery pull has had no effect so far, and I haven't found any other setting or app that could conceivably cause this behavior.

Hello everyone. A friend of mine ia having a lot of issues with their EVO 3D since the ICS update. Here are the major ones:

1. When listening to music, if he gets an email or text message the music player locks up.

2. Tons of crashing issues. His phone will just randomly restart. Its happened over 10 times in the last 3 days.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the help in advance.

No, you are not going crazy. Panoramic option is just not there.

My mom got the ICS update oon her htc incredible and on the stock camera, it has a big A symbol, labled for scenes, and there it has the option for panoramic view. It's pretty cool. I have the 3vo and didn't get to update yet, so I dont know if it has this "scene" setting on the 3vo... But if someone can help me update my rooted 3vo, that would be helpful, I have no clue how to do this. After i try to update, and my phone reboots, nothing happens. Its still on platform 2.3.4....

this has been said dozens of times in the thread alone...you CANNOT take the OTA update if you are rooted...go to the rooted forum for ways to update to newer software

This has already been gone over many times in the ICS thread...

The same place you enter a pattern/pin lock there is the option for face unlock, just follow the on screen instructions

Default Android 4.0

Hey guys,

New to the forum. I'm having issues with my phone, more specifically the messages tab. Today I upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich. Everything seemed to be working just fine until I tried to open up my messages. It fails to open and instead just idle's on the "loading" screen.

Any thoughts?
