Default screen black under phone menu

When I hit my phone icon (to make a call) at the top half of the screen there is usually a brief call history... Mine is showing up black, so I can't click a recent call or quick search for someone. Tried powering off and restarting, any suggestions?

more info please?

are you rooted?

are you on Sprint or another service?

are you on ICS? latest OS

did you install or uninstall anything prior to this happening?

has this always happened since you owned the device?

is it a refurb or is it an original purchase (as opposed to a warranty replacement)

do you have a lot of icons/wallpapers/sense screens running? This could be causing you to have low ram memory and could be causing the OS to aggressively manage memory. this , in turn, could make for some issues to crop up.

do you have fastboot checked?

have you done anything to try and troubleshoot? battery pull? factory reset?
