Like everyone else and myself have pointed out the S4 uses a completely different architecture than the older dual-cores, and even the "new" Tegra 3. The S4 is better, more cores doesn't equal anything when they are running on an older architecture.
Sorry, I should have said besides the new S4. Everything else is going backwards, just IMHO

I was really looking forward to the new HTC One X or whatever it is going to be named, but with a non-removable battery and no expandable memory I am really looking forward to the GSIII or the Note variant for Sprint. My upgrade isnt til Sept. so I have time to wait. But if either one gets released anytime before that I will be calling CS to see if I could get an early upgrade since I've been with Sprint for 6 years. Hopefully they will let me.

Hopefully they keep the original name...but base on Sprint track record, that's a slim chance of happening!

do you mean keep the name "Jet" or "One X"
im kinda thinking they will do either "HTC EVO X" or "HTC EVO X 4G"
sounds good, rolls off the tongue easier then most names and best of all still keeps the EVO name alive AS WELL as the new X branding, of course they lose the one branding but i think in sprints perspective they would rather keep the X but lose the ONE in order to utilize the EVO name.

well this doesn't solve your removable battery worries (although with s4 and 28nm im not near as worried as i would if it were my evo 4g) check out this tweet by our own Chris Chavez
"Ooooooh... Got a juicy tip. Would an HTC One X with sd card slot and kickstand be the One X to rule them all? ;D"

I'm talking about keep the One X! But If I had to choose between the 2 name you have, I would go with the "HTC EVO X!" It sound's like Darth Vader is saying "EVO X" the force is strong in you! lol!

4.7 inch, 720p Amoled screen
1.5 dual-core krait processor
2650mah non-removal battery
16GB internal memory + micro sd card slot
Android 4.0 with 4.0 sense
8 megapixel camera with 2.0 front facing
LTE, beats by Dre audio
Phone is black, & red and has a nice Evo 4g look to it, super thin and feel solid in your hands. Phone also has a kick stand about 1 inch under the camera, seems weird but actually works nice."

Wow, if the battery is that big, it won't need to be removable. 16GB of internal memory with mirco SD card slot is what I need. I just hope Sprint doesn't take up most of that internal memory with their junk. I'm glad they are bringing back the kick stand too. Sounds like a great phone that has everything this time.
Just to clarify, Phil got this information from someone else. Phil's forum post said...

So a couple thoughts here. ... The Krait proc isn't surprising, since int'll be an LTE device. That's a much bigger battery than what's spec'd on the other One X's, right? So a thicker phone? 16GB of storage? Booooooo. AMOLED display? That's different than the One X, too. Kickstand? Eh, OK.
Thoughts? I'll be at the launch event next week.

Amoled screen? Mirco SD card? Kickstand? Bigger battery? If this is true then it just upped the anty and going to make my choice even harder. Awesome.
since the "One X" is getting some traction, lets keep any discussion related to it here and not in the "rumor" thread. Those discussions have been split off from the rumor thread and pasted in here.
Thank you all.

As long as it has a microsd slot, I will be happy with the rest of those specs. Battery sounds good. Still not sure if I will bother upgrading yet. I'm using the Evo3D right now, and it is unlikely I will get 4G here in Wichita in anything less than another year. I may just stick with what I have got until I get a firm date for 4G, especially since Sprint took away the 11 month upgrades and I now have to wait two years for each upgrade. I really want the new Evo, but without 4G I won't really be gaining enough to offset having to wait 2 years for another upgrade.
Losing the 11 month upgrade is the biggest thing I am annoyed with about Sprint, especially after being a customer with 4 lines for almost 15 years.

Google "Intel knights corner"
And you will see why more cores make a difference, the project started by attempting to place 48 Pentium 1 processors on a single "chip" there is another company that did 128 cores before Intel publicized the 48 core project. Knights Corner is the new/next generation version, at 22nm die process. Pretty cool, 50 cores on a credit card...
However, higher GHz rating had always ruled on the overclocker's websites, over multiple cores.
I also agree that currently there is no need for more than 2 cores on a phone.
when the Tegra 2 launched, Nvidia said the "Kal 'el" would support power modes that would make it use less power than any current CPU add it could power off unused cores and only activate them when a certain threshold was met on the currently active ones. Also, if the multicore kernel modules are loaded in Android, the OS should do a Perry dan good job of utilizing the architecture regardless of how the programmers write/wrote their code.
One other thing, no sd is a killer for me unless they provide massive internal storage, as I find HTC phones work much better with an sd-ext partition on a fast sd card.

HTC EVO X reminds me of the Mitsubishi EVO X. Love that car, so that name has always sounded cool to me.

It's already been shown that the S4 is faster than the Tegra 3. It's not just about the cores, but the architecture used for those cores. A15>A9

krait > A9 but yes you are correct.
as for the rumors of the new evo. the battery is doubtful, the phone would be HUGE.
i like the kickstand and think its completely possible for sprints model
removable SD is another plus
the 720p AMOLED screen i am doubtful of. i would prefer the SLCD-2 Screen on the x any day.
The Following User Says Thank You to Covert_Death For This Useful Post:
im just not buying that rumor, some of it like kick stand and micro SD slot are believable, larger battery, maybe but idk about that big. the AMOLED is a misunderstanding for sure. if they meant Super AMOLED HD then fine whatever, but i would still prefer the SLCD-2 hands down any day. it better have it cause it is the selling point for me
I'm also looking to upgrade from my original Evo. Looking at Nexus and this new Evo. I hope they do not put in the AMOLED as I think the pentile AMOLED are generally horrible. The Galaxy Nexus's screen is pretty good, but I would still prefer the SLCD-2. Here's hoping. All the other bidbits sounds awesome!

Lol...The 2nd link I had was the same as yours! I was already getting the phone, and know icing was added to the cake
oops who doesn't like icing though!
this feels like the original EVO launch all over again haha. rumors of the phone (accurate rumors) start to spread 2 months before release, followed by pictures a few days before the announcement then the agonizing wait until release
Oh wow...if this had been the successor to the EVO (instead of the EVO 3D), I might've kept my HTC owner streak going. 16gb internal w/ an external microSD slot AND the kickstand?...Hmmmm...maybe HTC listened to all the complaints about the EVO 3D?
My only dilemma now is, I really love what Motorola does with accessories as compared to HTC. Well, I guess I'll have to wait and see what Motorola does for Sprint, but I'm eagerly waiting for the announcement next week.

Ooh, I was just doing a size comparison on Phonearena...Even though I like the idea of screens getting bigger, the overall real estate of the EVO One is bigger than the 3D or the MoPho. Not sure I like that. I wasn't a big fan of the SGS 2 size either, even though the phone was thin, it just didn't feel comfortable holding (to me), so I'd imagine this would feel the same/similar.
HTC hasn't really been known of making real great quality screens. So how is that SLCD2 screen? I keep hearing its pretty awesome.
htc never made any screens.. they purchase from manufactures..
but.. i am on the fence about which might be better..
Amoled = to colorful (can be adjusted).. but has good power consumption and contrast.
SLCD2 = better colors, more natural..

Calling all CPU/GPU-nerds and dev's:
Will the S4 have as much legs as the OG Evo's CPU/GPU? Will it still be super-fast as more multi-threaded app's and processes hit the market?
I'm still rolling with the OG Evo, and love that it's just recently feeling slow/outdated (but still just as awesome as my wife's recently purchased iP4S = suck it, apple!!) and giving me the itch for a new upgrade. I'm stuck between the Evo One and SGS3, and trying to determine if I want current domination in theoretical benchmarks, or possible future domination as the dev community picks up the pace in multi-threading...

I'll laugh at the up rising caused if Sprint does not announce the One-X variant next Wednesday - maybe they will wait to announce so they don't undercut any other 'lesser phone' they may want to release first. Or if they do announce it, and not meet 100% this newest rumor that everyone is accepting for fact, people will not be pleased.

It is kind of hilarious that we try and do a size comparison for a phone that isn't even released yet, and in Sprint's case not even realized or confirmed.
Reports from MWC from people that held the One-X thought it felt really good in hand. Everyone has different opinions though.
How can they increase the screen size without increasing the overall real estate?
Bezels are an unfortunate necessity to protect the edges of the glass. And to maintain certain screen ratios, the dimensions have to be a bit funny shaped.

ICS is how. The way I understand it, ICS eliminates the need for "soft key" buttons because the buttons are integrated into the OS. So where there's soft key buttons on the current phones, that portion of the current phones could be used for increased screen viewing.

Thoughts?
My thought is that, if you stuck it out with the OG Evo for this long, wait until the EVO One, SGS 3, and whatever Motorola offers, prior to making a decision.
From the sounds of it, Samsung stepped up their mobile phone support after the SGS 2 and Galaxy Note became so popular, which is good for us customers, but also makes it more difficult to make the right decision for each individual's own needs.
From my perspective, I'm still a little hesitant with Samsung. Had too many ill experiences with the Instinct and the Epic (not my phones, but other people that are on my plan), that I'm likely to make a decision between the EVO One and new Motorola phone (if I decide to upgrade again). As of right now, the EVO One is enough to make me consider an upgrade again, but the fact that Motorola's accessories are just so awesome is enough to hold me back to be more patient than I've been in the past.
The HTC EVO 4G LTE is Sprint's version of the HTC One X. It comes with all the same specs, except for the processor, internal storage and radios (includes LTE). And aesthetics are also significantly different.
