the cameral lens frame... not the lens themselves..
better?
I own them, I get it lays on that edge.
But for me, not fine, I always have too much opportunity to bang or scratch the lens that way. Either picking it up, putting it down, or from crap on the table.
Besides, with the kickstand, it's a don't care.

i have a rubber case.. it adds a little more cushion ... i am ok with that... to keep the lens from touching the surface.
but I was referring to the design of the body respect to where the speaker outlet is... and how it might be affected buy the tilt of the body... from the camera lens.
the quote you have here.. is about the OneX... the EVO 4G LTE is different.
OneX's backspeaker is on the back to the right side.
LTevo is on the back towards the bottom.
just guessing by what I see... when the LTevo is laying down.. the camera lens will lift the top part... and making the speaker hole more covered by the table surface.
Huh? I'm pretty sure the speaker placement on the HTC One X and the HTC Evo 4G LTE are exactly the same. It's on the backside, about half a centimeter up from the bottom.
Oh, and Dan, it may be nitpicky but I just wanted to fill you in, I think people are being precise about "camera lens" and so the glass (plastic?) that you see on the phone, that's not actually the "lens" of the camera technically speaking. The true "lens" from an optics perspective is the little bubble looking thing, 1-3mm big at the center of the camera. What you see on the surface of the phone is really just flat glass/plastic without any light refracting properties. Maybe it's just easier (and less technically inaccurate) to call it the "camera glass" or "camera surface" or something.

you are correct .. i had thought the onex speaker was in a different location...
but the Evo1 speaker looks to be lower.. and one opening.. which still looks just in the area that might be more covered up by the surface. yes, i am being nitpicky here too.. and it might not even be an issue... i have yet to get my hands on it.
camera lens /glass/surface... yes..it is not the "real" focus lens... but the outside clear cover.. I think we all know this..., but you are correct.
whatever.. the frame of it.. helps to guard it from it actually touching the desk surface.
Since were on the topic about the camera I've been disappointed with the way some photos look from the One X (Imagesense) posted from a HTC blog and pocketnow.com. Some photos look kind of grainy especially in lowlight, some do look good in the daylight but they're not great. I have a feeling this will be the case with the EVO LTE, I hope I'm wrong.

Rush, thanks for adding the "I like it but the non removable battery scares the heck out of me", since I am the only vote I'm guessing you put that there for me!

Lol, I should've had it as an option, but I guess I was too busy getting the thread started. There will be other members who will choose that option as well.
I'm starting to lean over to the "worry" side of having a non-removable battery.

My biggest fear is killing the battery, I could live with having to charge constantly it would just be a big inconvenience but if the battery goes what do you do? I have killed at least five batteries in the last three years.
killed battery... i am sure.. there will be a replacement kit..
dont the iphones have replacement battery kits.?
They do. I changed out an iPhone battery. You pretty much have to disassemble the entire device.
I noticed tho that on the new iPhone 4s, the screw requires a 5-point star shape to turn (not torx), and it's teeny tiny. Maybe a future kit would come with that tool though.
On the Evo LTE, there's the issue of the unibody aluminum frame.... so you have to pull out the 'guts' of the phone to get to the battery. Might not be so easy.

The Evo LTE bests the One X by having a bigger battery, an SD card slot (in addition to its 16 GB internal storage) dedicated camera button and a kickstand, while managing to be the same size and thickness as the One X.
I found this, and I couldn't help but to repost: Sprint... you did right by me.

The back speaker I use mainly for speaker phone calls, thus my phone is face down. I am doing any audio/video action. I will be sporting buds. Being able to handbrake true HD vids and watch on my phones HD res screen. The rear speaker isn't gonna do much justice IMHO on any HD device.
I'm thinking the real reason why we have a two-tone glossy-matte back finish is because having two drastically different textures was a better design choice than having two close, but not the same matte finishes.
To explain: The LTEVO is made with an aluminum unibody, and the bottom matte part is a matte machine-finished aluminum metal. The top glossy part is plastic--as a requirement, because the 3G/LTE/BT/NFC antennas are all located there. I would bet money that it is nigh impossible to get a matte plastic finish that matches a matte metal finish--that they would be close, but be obviously slightly off matte finishes. Slightly off is frequently more bothersome to the eye than an obvious and stark contrast.
When given the choice to go slightly off (see the old HTC Sensation for example) two tones, or go to a noticable contrast two-tones, i.e., glossy vs. matte, it looks like they went with the latter.
The HTC One X avoids this altogether with an RF-friendly all polymer body.
i have to say that is the BEST POSSIBLE explanation i've heard. You are prolly sooooo right, if it were slightly off due to different hues ppl would complain about that. But truthfully i can't like that black back no matter WHAT reason i come up with. Even THIS would be better in my opin....
But don't misunderstand, i STILL am looking forward to this phone more than any other ever :*)

A white top and black bottom is a likely probably since there have been rumors circulating about a white LTEvo. For the prior two Evos, you can pick up spare parts (I have a spare battery cover for my Evo 3D) and you'd probably be able to score a spare white top to secure to the black LTEvo.

I've purchased custom ones since my Mogul. Transforms the phone's look completely (especially when they make a full coverage skin). Even better when they make the scratch resistant one. Best part was that I could still use the phone with my docks.

I currently own the Sprint HTC evo 4g. So this phone would be an upgrade.. so far the only difference is that the battery life is is better, the screen is bigger, and its thinner
And has a dual-core processor, a much better camera, a screen that can show 16mil colors(not 65k like on the EVO) ICS,
To also add to TommyD, NFC, extremely better standby, records 1080p at 30fps, 4gen Dual S4 processor(krait), Sense 4.0 (lighter and Quicker), Kickstand can do both way (3 position total that I can think of), Default 16GB & Expandable memory...This is a huge difference in power level between the phone!
Device(s): Had the EVO4G the EVO 3D and now the EVO4G LTE!

Yes it has lots of better features and if you love the OG EVO than get this one I am sure you will love it. I went from the OG EVO to the 3D and it wasn't as much of a big deal this is. I can't wait to get it.
EDIT: now i feel silly i didnt realize how new the phone actually was, if mods want to delete this post that would be just fine.
Hello, looking for an upgrade I have had the EVO 4G for a long time and i essentially don't want to fix what isn't broken. I use my Phone for music (streaming Pandora, ubuntuone, and music/audiobooks on my SD mostly used to stream via bluetooth to my car) after that comes the usual navigation/email/sms/browsing/photos.
The root support for the EVO 4g was great... was, but its fallen off. I like to try new roms and kernels and have plenty of experience using them but i fear that my phone is falling off the back of the curve and fewer poeple are putting less time into the older platforms.
I know this is the LTEvo forum but be honest is it worth upgrading now or is there a phone you all are waiting to come out so you can switch. I'm also looking at the new razr on verizon, my contract with sprints ends in November and would be switching then if i decided on razr.
Thanks for reading any advice is appreciated.

My guess is most people in this sub-forum are or will soon be LTEvo owners and will tell you this phone is worth the upgrade. If you go to another sub-forum you'll get a different answer.
Wow didn't realize this phone literally just came out, this sub forum has been around awhile and has quite a few users i guess i just assumed the phone had been out awhile.

A friend of mine who I work with has the. Razr maxx... Your not missing much lol... LTEvo trumps the Razr IMO.. Screen doesn't come close... LTEvo is thinner... Lighter.. Camera yada yada yada... The carbon kevlar back would be the only cool thing
I saw and played with one for the first time yesterday. Wow! So thin and extremely light in comparison to both my Evo 3d | Evo 4g. I can't wait for my upgrade to take effect - and yes, even if some other device comes out before then...I'm still adding this →"bad boy to my Evo collectives.

So I had a EVOLTE then went with a GS3.......
Now I kinda miss the EVO.. Am I nuts? Haven't been around here much, how's the EVO holding up? On a side note, I think the EVO's camera is better than the S3 but my battery life seems better on the S3..... I'm lost lol
The HTC EVO 4G LTE is Sprint's version of the HTC One X. It comes with all the same specs, except for the processor, internal storage and radios (includes LTE). And aesthetics are also significantly different.
