Sorry, I think that's incorrect.
If you read the above attached email. For the pre-order:
"they will GET a $50 gift card to use towards the purchase!"
The launch guide was extremely lengthy, and I read through it for awhile. I wish someone that works at BB could post the thing in it's entirety.
It is possible the $50 trade-in and $50 Freedom gift cards won't be redeemable towards the phone. I will definitely be pushing the issue when I go in on May 18.

Yeah, I am very excited about this... so, I apologize for the spam.
I wish everyone who wanted this phone had signed up for the Best Buy Freedom Phone program.
But, $50 gift card to pre-order, which, according to email can be used towards the purchase of the phone.
If you trade in OG EVO 4G, $50 discount, and another $50 gift card.
And if you did the Freedom thing, ANOTHER $50 gift card that according to the FAQ, you get following activation.
With the 3 EVO's I will be upgrading from (2 upgradeable, 1 not), I will activate and pay for each one at a time. Then, if I can't use the gift cards towards them directly, I will use them all towards the 3rd non-upgradeable phone.
REALLY REALLY need/want to read the full expanded version of the launch guide. It was very detailed and nothing I read said can't combine THESE offers - in fact - SCREAMED you could.
I was too giddy as a school girl to remember concrete facts about using the gift cards towards the purchase - but like I said, I want to say I saw nothing saying you couldn't.
EDIT: Also, the rep said if anyone pre-ordered BEFORE today - no worries. All the offers will appear in their system when they go to activate if you qualify.
And really, if it worked right, someone MIGHT be able to use this deal to get phone for $350 off contract. Again, if price is $550, and if you can apply all gift cards towards purchase price. The trick would be to be able to pre order if not ready for upgrade.
Good question.. Lol if I am still under contract, and get a new phone and renew 2 year contract, I don't get charged a eft do I?
Woot! Hurry May 18!

You read that in the exact same email or where it linked off into that blue background page?
I think the only one that would send the code could be the trade in gift card. And certainly I could be wrong as this does all sound too good to be true... As I was prepared to shell out $200 each.
If anyone goes down tonight, have them print out the launch guide please. Lol I may swing back in there tonight.

As I mentioned, I'm not 100% sure the gift cards can be instantly applied towards the purchase of the phone - though the attached email definitely states at least the one for pre-ordering can be. And that there are special instructions to make it happen.
However, if you are getting multiple phones, maybe pay for one at a time, using the gift cards on the next.
Attached is the main email. I scanned to jpg so I could cut out names.
Again, the BOLD items linked linked off to MUCH more expanded information. I wish I had got THAT information. As I said, I am pretty sure I read most if not all the gift cards could be applied towards the phone... and that they are all combineable.. as again is mentioned in the attached email.
The rep was a little shocked at first by the email. His co-worker agreed that it read all were combineable.
We read and talked for awhile, and he saw no reason I couldn't get all the gift cards for my phone that isn't due for an upgrade ... especially since I would be paying more out of pocket for it. My son pre-ordered his on my account in another city and state yesterday. I wasn't able to order one on my line, but used his number in the BB computer again to pre-order 3 to my local store. Rep said the pre-orders aren't tied to the number. So he could see no real reason why I wouldn't get the $200 giftcards/discounts for my non-upgradeable phone. S, if in fact the phone is $550 off contract.. doing my math, I will get 4 EVO 4G LTE's (3 upgradeable, 1 not) for $250... as long as I re-signed my non-upgradeable line for 2 years.
I also said to him, so all that's left is activation, and he shook his head no.. I didn't get much further into that. Does BB charge activation?
More pictures below, though, not much more information.
I was all set on not upgrading early. I hope the discounts last long enough for the other superphones that are being released.
Worse case scenario, I'm still getting my $50 Phone freedom discount, but I'd love to be able to get the additional discounts when I finally do take my last 1 year upgrade.
Hey guys been reading the thread seems like you can get a great deal on this phone with all the gift cards.. Anyone know if best buy will price match on top of all these deals. My best buy usually price matches my local sams club which has the evo lte on pre order for 149.99... This would be crazy if they would do that also.. Let me know if anyone has new info thanks.

That's likely what that initial $50 card is, rather than having to put a $50 down payment. Although, I'd say it couldn't hurt to ask if they'd price match.
With my Photon, I got a price match with Radio Shack on the day of launch...and then later a price adjustment (3 weeks later) when they dropped the price to $99.
Yeah i wonder if that's what they will say, with the 50$ gift card the price will be the 149.99 ( essentially the same as sams club). I know one of the managers at my best buy and will have to go down there to chat with him about it. Will report back with any news.

Doubt it, but that's actually a really good question.
I Really want this phone, I'm just sitting on the fence about the 550 price point, off contract. Would just make for one tough month budgeting the rest of my life for about 30 days. (although probably worth 30 days of tight budget.) Since I'm right on the fence, if these deals applied to off contract, too, It would make a "GO" for me for sure.
I assume BB does not throw in these deals if you are purchasing off contract?
if they did it wouldn't be worth it... the BB price for this phone off contract is $699... BB is notorious for higher off-contract prices. i would always recommend BB to buy your phone if its an upgrade or new contract but i would NEVER recommend them for off contract purchase. they are always higher than sprint by a large margin

I'm confused now what is this preorder and get a 50 dollar card. I preordered and was told I didn't have to put anything down but I went in the expecting to put a 50 dollar deposit down to hold me the phone so I paid it. I got a 50 dollar BB gift card to use towards my 200 bucks. I also signed up for phone freedom and was told I get an additional 50 dollar card to use when I pick up the phone on the purchase of the phone. I am not trading in my 3D cause I am selling it. But I was also told there was another deal where you get a 50 dollar card after activation and that you can use it towards accessories. I think that is what you get if you preorder online cause it states you get it after acitvation. Either way I am paying 150 already have 50 down and am selling my 3D and accessories for 250 if it works out this Friday and I'll be good. Hope it works out for everyone else.

I do know Best Buy currently has them in their system for $700. I am hoping that isn't the case on release date and/ or will price match off contract price.
they had the 3D and the original evo on sale for a hundred bones or more than sprint and people posted they were able to price match. times change so this may not be the case now for this device, but past history shows they will. they have price matched for other items not phone related also.
each BBY store will be different so its worth a note to call your local BBY to confirm. all we can do is speculate here which i would not take as gospel...

I'm going to my local BBY probably saturday or Sunday with cold hard cash and placing an order. I'll also bring along the oooold Hero that works when it wants to and see if I can get $50 for it.
If I can get a hard copy of the Sams Club$150 offer I'll probably be able to fenangle the Price Match also. I've pulled some price match magic with my local BBY. That would be effin sweet!!!
No matter how you slice it, I'll be havin me some El Tevo next week!!!
I'm so ecxcited I'm about to throw up.

The rep I dealt with saw no reason not to. And what we read, didn't say they couldn't.
And really, you will be paying MORE for the phone, so why not?
Now, the deals, at least the pre order one, states that you have to sign up for 2 year agreement to get the gift card.
The trick would be to pre order if your not up for an upgrade. One of my lines isn't, and was greyed out and they couldn't check it to pre order for that line.

Haha well technically, it's all the same to BestBuy's bottom line -- it's not that they are selling it to you for a lower price; they are just getting rebates or kickbacks from Sprint to make up for the difference. In fact, they probably receive less kickbacks or commission from Sprint when they sell at full price.
In other words, selling full price is probably worse for them in terms of $$$

True. Either way, to get the gift cards, I will need to resign for another 2 years. So, if they get a kick back based on the contract, they score. Can't imagine they would lose money that way.. the bigger question will be, can I get those chuckleheads to do what I want. Lol
Waiting to hear back from Sprint in regards to me asking them to waive activation fees, and/or hit me up with a loyalty credit of some sort. May have to call if "Clarissa" tells me no.
I will go to BestBuy and RadioShack, because dealing with Sprint for so long, they never have deals!
that's not accurate. Maybe they don't have the specific kinds of deals some people want but they do have deals. 20% off when purchasing at least 2 accessories is a deal. That means I can buy a Jawbone Era and an HTC Media Link for $167.19 instead of $208.99 saving me $41.80.

I'm referring to deals on the phone! I.e. Radioshack sell the device for $100-150 compared to Sprint 199 price point!

I thought the accessory discount went away with the gold and silver premiere?
Ok, Pre-Ordered at BB today. I went in there with a fist full of dollars and a hard copy of the deal at Sams Club for $149.74. I was wearing full blown swat gear and sparing gloves ready for a fight.
I talked with the sales dood I always deal with, and it turns out, they have no idea what kind of shenanigans they'll be able to pull on launch. He was sure he'd be able to price match Sams Club, but I wouldn't get the BB gift card.
Hmmm, no matter 6 in one hand, half a dozen in the other. Now what he couldn't answer was if the gift card could be applied to the transaction to get the phone for $150. Also he wasn't sure if the Hero qualified for a $50 phone trade in. All we can do is try it on Friday and see what I come up with.
Also they wouldn't take the fist full of dollars. Told me to pay when I get the phone, which they guaranteed me I would get one. The sales dood told me his store didn't get as many pre-orders as anticipated, and he's got plenty in stock to cover.

Bummer about not getting the gift card when price matching. I can understand it though... But would still push the issue when you go.. tell them, well I pre ordered it. Heh.. unless he saw something in the launch guide. I still wish I had a print out if it. Very very lengthy and detailed.
As I mentioned earlier, when I got the EVO, Best Buy was giving away a free blue tooth headset.. worth about $25 or so.. Radio Shack was offering something like $20 or $25 (maybe $50) credit towards accessories.. BB matched that. I walked out with 3 EVOS, 3 blue tooth headsets (still haven't opened them lol), 3 cases, and 3 installed InvisiSheilds for just the price of the phones...
So, who knows. I will definitely be posting my results. Good luck to all
Just ordered from amazon. $149.99. No sales tax, no activation fee, free 2 day shipping, (I'm a prime member.) Expected delivery date, May 22nd. I can live with that.

I plan on showing up fully equipped to put pressure on them for price match and gift cards.. probably won't, but worth the effort and harder to say no in person.
The HTC EVO 4G LTE is Sprint's version of the HTC One X. It comes with all the same specs, except for the processor, internal storage and radios (includes LTE). And aesthetics are also significantly different.
