Default The HTC EVO 4G LTE Screen Scene

You know the drill! Home screens, lock screens, icon packs, widgets... Let's see those screens!

From conservative functionality, to unique layouts, to the ever-loved all-encompassing scene. All are welcome.

Yes, right now it's early, and things will certainly get more interesting when we get root +ROMs, but for now let's see what you've got!

And in case you don't know,
A screen shot may be taken by either:
1) Sense 4.0 Shot - Holding down the power button, then tapping the home button. Using this option:
- - the shots are saved into the 'Camera Shots' folder
- - you can only take a shot of the screen as it sits
- - the photo is taken instantly
- - there is a small popup saying that "screenshot saved to camera shots"
2) ICS Shot - Pressing and holding both (at the same time) the power button and the volume down button (for about 1.5 secs). Using this option:
- - the shots are saved into their own 'Screenshots' folder
- - a screenshot can be taken, while at the same time utilizing/demonstrating some other function on the screen with another finger (e.g. dropping down the notification bar, moving an icon, holding open a 3rd party folder widget, etc).
- - again, it takes about 1.5 secs to take the shot.
- - a notification is added to the notification bar that lets you view the shot when clicked.

It works with Tapatalk they tell me.

Otherwise, something like Flicker with the "http/farm/static/jpg" link buried in their "share -> embedded" feature is your friend. (Otherwise, a Flickr link will do and because we're old pals, I'll fix it up for you. )

This is my current fave. As you can see it was taken during a Media Link session. Everything goes landscape, including the lockscreen; WHY CAN'T HTC GIVE US THIS OUT OF THE BOX??? I'll root and get it soon enough!

Mine has been able to go landscape. I'm going to do a reboot soon and see if I can do it again.

Needs more tile options though. I don't want to pay for the full launcher >_>

Ok I assume the camera shot folder is on the internal memory because I do not see the folder on the SD card and I have no idea on how to get to internal storage.

Ok I kinda figured it out! These backgrounds are mostly space galactic images that change every second or so. Here are a couple of shots..

..still "a work in progress"

The waterfall posted by 3vodroid and the background by davvy1856 are both HTC wallpapers that come on your phone. The one posted by CriticalCritic looks like the live "Lava" wallpaper.

Here's mine. Interesting to see how many people are using folders to hold stuff. One of the first things I did with my OG EVO was to create a "speed dial" folder so I could dial all my favorite people with 2 clicks, and that was one of the first things I did here also. LOVE the easier way to create folders!

This is using the Beautiful Weather Live Wallpaper as part of the Beautiful Widgets app. I know it's geeky, but if I'm stuck inside without direct access to windows, I like to be able to look at my phone and see what the weather is like outside (raining, snowing, etc.). (Early in the afternoon and dusk below):

Could you please tell me how you did the speed dial? I am curious on my moms Galaxy Touch2. She has been complaining it is too many clicks to dial someone while driving. My reply was you are driving.lol I think she will get voice activated Bluetooth, but thought if the option was there, I would check her phone next time I see her..Thanks

Internet.

But seriously, google image search for any subject + 1280 x 720 (right?), and you'll get a ton of stuff.

The "speed dial" folder is easier on this phone. Not sure if it's Sense or ICS that makes it so easy as compared to my OG EVO. (I *think* it's a feature of the actual Android OS, though).

On the LTEvo, just hard-press on your home screen and select "Shortcuts". Then, select "Direct Dial". It will ask you to select a contact and the number you want to use. It will then add that shortcut link to your home screen. If you click the shortcut, it will immediately dial the number. Once you have at least two of these shortcuts on your home screen, simply drag one of them ON TOP OF THE OTHER and you will see a box will be created around both of them! They are now in a folder. Click on the group folder, then click on the default name of the folder and change it to whatever you want (such as "Speed Dial"). Keep adding shortcuts to your home screen and then dragging them into the group folder until you have all your speed dial shortcuts set. You can - of course - leave your most-used shortcut on your desktop and your others in the folder, but even if ALL are in your folder, you are simply two clicks away from dialing whomever you want.

PART TWO: I think the Galaxy Touch comes with Gingerbread (like the OG EVO), so here's how to do the same thing on the OG EVO:

Hard-press on your home screen, then click "Folder" and select "New Folder". It will create a folder on the screen. Click on the folder to open it, then click the word "Folder" and it will open up a dialog allowing you to rename the folder.

Next, hard-press again and this time, select "Shortcut" then select "Direct Dial". Once again, select the contact and number you want for the shortcut. Create as many direct dial shortcuts as you want, and drag them into the folder.

The big difference between my OG EVO folders and the ones on my LTEvo, is you can drag something OUT of the folder on the LTEvo, but not on the OG EVO.

Hopefully one of the two above options will work for your Mom. I haven't seen the "Direct Dial" option on ALL Android phones, so it might not be there for her Galaxy.

By the way, I've also used the above to create a "Speed Text" folder filled with shortcuts to text someone with one click. You simply select "Direct Message" rather than "Direct Dial" for your shortcuts.

Thanks Geek Goddess. I will certainly try it out next time I get my hands on her phone. I appreciate the thorough instructions

Nothing fancy.

I wish we had the option to turn off sense like in earlier HTC/Android devices. I really like the stock ICS launcher the best.

You can replace the launcher, including with a stock ICS one. See link in Sense section of the FAQ.

I've been testing out Apex Launcher and Nova Launcher, and both are very speedy. Nova in particular, you can speed up the transitions and animations which makes it feel quite fast.

With the grouped icons like that can you access the camera without unlocking the phone like you can with the camera on the dock on its own?

Is there an option in the Sense settings to change the color of the reticle or are you using a third party lock screen?

Thanks for the shots everyone! I love that you can put folders on the launch bar. You have given me great ideas...if I ever get my phone from Amazon.

Thanks! On a side note, is anyone else having trouble downloading the additional skins? It starts to download and then gives me an error in the notification bar.

You truly are the Geek Goddess!

Thanks!

Interesting though that the direct dial bypasses Call Confirm app ... Hmm
