Ok RAM on phones, to my understanding, works a little differently. RAM is RAM of course but some of that 1gb (1024 mb) is tasked for other things, most likely video. So to answer your question yes the phone has 1gb of RAM but you can't see all of it because it is used elsewhere.

I'm no newb to these phones and I know that whatever ram is being used should be shown unless they changed something in sense 4 or android 4

Yes I wasn't implying you were a newb. I guess their reasoning is why show you the 345 mb that you can't free up. It is reserved for ICS maybe(I am making an educated guess here). It is same with internal Storage; We know there is 16GB of storage but only 12.02GBs of that is usable by us and we cannot see the rest because it is allotted for the OS and Sense.

Just as we discussed in the Evo 3D thread, the same applies here.

The 3vo had 1 GB ram, but after giving up some to share with the processor GPU, Android ramdisk and any other memory-mapped I/O functions, 830 MB of the 1 GB ram was left for the operating system functions and user apps.

Now we have graphics with 4 times as many pixels as the 3D and various other changes to support with direct memory access.

The result?

680 MB out of 1 GB ram for the operating system and user apps.

Where is most of that "missing" ram - you're seeing it every time you look at the display, so just like before, you're using regardless of whether you realized it.

Same as it ever was.
