Hey guys just have a question to anyone who recently got their phone replaced. Did they start giving out refurbs yet? I had mine replaced about a month ago and got lucky enough to receive a new device bc refurbs weren't yet available. I have a friend who wants to get his replaced but hasn't gone to the store yet and I'm curious if he will get lucky like I did. Thanks
You might be better off getting a refurbished one rather than a brand new one. At least you know the refurbished has had the problems replaced.
Only issue could be gaining s-off if he is interested in that
He's definitely not interested in rooting.. He's got a bad taste in his mouth from the 3vo..He was on his 3rd refurb all with defects out of the box which was why he moved up to the ltevo.. I was on my 3rd refurb 3vo as well lol but for me 3rd time was a charm

I got a replacement yesterday, it was a certified sprint phone aka refurb.
Thank you for your input I guess that answers my question.. How is it so far?

I did hear that and I think that's how my friend ended up with the 3vo bc of an issue with refurbished og evos.. But I dont know for sure.. I'm not an argumentative person.. He on the other hand loves to go to the sprint store and argue. Lol
Within 6 months after two there are "options" that include new. Our goal is for ya to have a working phone.
There is only one way to tell an EVO is a refurb....can the friend mentioned above verify by giving the steps to do so
(with screenshot will be even better)
My 2nd LTEvo is a refurb, as the Sprint store confirmed it today. Kinda pissed since the other store told me it would be a brand new one....one made after the "Customs shipment".
I have been waiting on some to come in to check but they get swapped out while I am gone
So I had to exchange my EVO LTE today, and using that code, the new phone says "No" under Reconditioned Status. Does that mean someone probably returned this phone during the trial period with no problems, or is it a brand new phone? All the life timers show 0 minutes or kilobytes.

I would say it should be a brand new phone.. I don't think they would sell a used phone as new.. But who knows. Lol
If you go to your dialer and enter ##786# it will bring up a list and included is " refurbished status" it will either say no.. Or have a date
Mine also says No on the phone I got a few days ago when my phone was swapped at my local Sprint store. From the above post I interpret a No to mean it's a new phone and if there was a date that would mean it was a reconditioned phone?
It doesn't really matter to me either way, as long as it's physically in good shape and it functions the way it should

When I checked my phone out, it appeared to be a new phone. The activation date and reconditioned status showed no or didn't have a date. Only reason I knew it was a refurb was that the screen was not flush with the phone. I sent it back due to that and it was exhibiting the same problems as my original.

I wouldn't say that meant it was a refurb. The screen issue has been documented on brand new phones and as for having the same issues as your original.. your original had issues out of the box, why would another new one not be subject to having issues lol
Hope the newest replacement is better!

Ordered a phone replacement through Asurion yesterday, should be here tomorrow. I'm hoping it's not a refurbished phone because the phone is still new. And considering I paid a deductible (which was only $100). I don't know. I usually get refurbished phones when I call and get a replacement for manufacturer defects. This is the first time I've ever had to get a replacement for dropping my phone, so I guess I'll just keep quiet with whatever I get, but still hoping for a NEW one.

Most people in this thread are checking to see if their replacement phone was refurbished.
Nobody wants a refurbished phone, because its a phone someone else had problems with and had to return for whatever reason. The problem gets fixed and shipped out to someone else who needs a replacement

The HTC EVO 4G LTE is Sprint's version of the HTC One X. It comes with all the same specs, except for the processor, internal storage and radios (includes LTE). And aesthetics are also significantly different.
