Default spell check (settings to make/edit corrections)

How do I get this phone to auto correct instead of just make suggestions? I thought for sure that my 3d did a better job of guessing what I wanted.

I haven't messed with an lte yet but it doesn't have an auto correct option in keyboard options?

That's what I was wondering since it gives me options of words I might want. Do I need another keyboard to get what I had with my 3d?

I would highly recommend swiftkey or perfect keyboard. I have tried them all. Swiftkey is a little better at predictions as it will predict your next word before you even type the first letter, whereas perfect keyboard will predict with the first letter typed. Perfect keyboard allows a lot more customizations though such as themes and applying your own backgrounds. Perfect keyboard also does not use internet data so typing in passwords with it is safe. I will never return to stock.

I find the keyboard to be just great out of the box for me personally (Coming from Evo 4G and 3D).

You may have looked in the settings already but in case you haven't:
If you go to Settings -> Language & keyboard -> HTC Sense Input -> Advanced input -> 'Spell Correction' has 2 toggles here
You can even turn off word prediction and completion if you prefer.

Also, in case it is not fully clear or intuitive. If you mistype a word in a message and it is underlined in red, you can *tap* the word and it will pop up a few approximate corrected entries to choose from. It is called the Post spelling check and it is even able to be turned off if you don't like it

If that is not enough, give Swype a try since it is pre-loaded with the device. And if that is still not fitting, then try something from the market, or even load up the old Sense/Gingerbread keyboard - I'm sure it is around somewhere.

I'm not exactly sure what more you could be looking for.

Only you can decide what expectations you are carrying and what you are looking for ultimately.

The phone actually comes with 2 keyboards - an ordinary (boring) one, and Swype. I think the standard plain keyboard is on by default, but I definitely suggest you give Swype a try. Swype's claim to fame is you can drag your finger across letters to type words instead of trying to hit each letter individually, it works pretty well and since it's free - I recommend you give it a try before even considering a keyboard you have to pay for.

Hi, when I set "Samsung Keyboard" as the default keyboard and then swype, the accuracy is very poor. When I choose "Swype" as the default, the accuracy is much better, however the keyboard layout does not include the microphone and some other options.

Any thoughts on improving the accuracy when swyping with the Samsung Keyboard as I like its layout better.

Thanks!

I don't have a Samsung keyboard on my HTC phone. Which phone do you have?
