Reboot results in "Send error report to HTC" message
This is what I get whenever I reboot my phone (hold power button for 10 seconds). Never got this unless the phone rebooted itself randomly, and never before the latest update. Anyone else?

Its because holding the power button for 10 seconds is a "hard" reboot (like a battery pull) so it's not a normal reboot, ive got that error before the latest update but not all the time by doing it that way, for a normal reboot hold the power button till you see the menu and press reboot

I get this error every time I boot to recovery and then reboot the phone on a stock Rom. For some reason the stock Rom has a way of recognizing an abnormal reboot and tries to send an error log to HTC. I see it all the time, I just clear it out and never send.
I'm not sure if I get that when I hard reset it tho....can't remember.

I used to get it on meanROM but not on Viper or stock.. From what I remember
could be Lookout causing issues. i would uninstall it. Lookout is not really a necessary app unless you like to install weird obscure apps.
does the report give you an actual "reason"?
you can go into your settings and turn off "Send reports to HTC"....
Uninstalled lookout but that didn't matter. Also a friend with the same issue factory reset and it still does it on his phone. Curious, why is Lookout Mobile Security an "obscure" app?

I'm pretty sure he's saying that if you don't install "weird, obscure apps", then there's no need to use Lookout - not that Lookout is an obscure app.
I was a beta tester for lookout back in 2009. at the time it was just a location based app, but they added the "security" stuff later to keep up with the joneses.
Those types of apps can make one trigger happy and a bit paranoid and they can some times cause false positives elsewhere on the handset.
I just dont like extra apps using up processing power and memory unnecessarily.. that is me though and I am not trying to disrespect anyone who uses such apps.
ive not seen the send error message to HTC. I saw you had lookout running and suggested to remove it.

I got rid of lookout and installed avast instead as it includes the anti-theft features I like for free. I also like to be notified of airpush as well.

i believe that error comes from an "unexpected" shutdown. i've gotten the same error when doing a weekly reboot, i don't pay any real attention to it.
also, one of the reasons i run lookout on my phones, is to help locate it when i can't find the phone. one of lookout's capabilities is to make the phone yelp when you can't find the phone. also, lookout is good for backing up your data.
I had NEVER gotten the message send error report to HTC until this morning after a 10 sec press of the power button. I have had my LTEvo since early June, and this is the first occurrence. I received the OTA update earlier this week, could this be a bug in the update? Could the OTA update have inserted malware into the phone?
I've gotten that many times on the stock 1.13 rom. Its not a glitch or a bug. Its just a warning of an improper shut down, just like windows after a crash. Its there in case the phone crashed on its own. But if you forced the shut down with the power button or wiped caches in recovery then just ignore it.
I think most custom rom builders remove that feature.

Why haven't I seen that message before. I have used "long press" of the power button to reboot/clear cache from the phone over the past two months. Today is the first that I received the message.
For the past 2 weeks almost everyday I have been having multiple issues
1. Receive incoming call & when I swype the lock screen to answer, the phone quits ringing for 3-4 seconds the continues to ring and I have to press the "answer" key
2. If I have a missed call it will show how many missed calls on phone icon in the dock, usually when i return that call the icon clears, but now I have to restart phone for it to clear.
3. Having my text messages not sending until I restart phone
4. Misc. widgets will just disappear off screen, will come back when I restart.
5. Last couple days I will be on phone call talking to someone and it will just end the call
Each time I restart my phone with any of these issues I will have an error report saying it just recovered from an abnormal reset. I have probably sent 25 error reports to HTC in the last 2 weeks.

That sounds rather frustrating.
Have these issues coincided with any major events, like taking the recent Over The Air software update?
Added any new applications about 2 weeks ago? Or updated old ones through the Play market?
Do you have any applications installed to the SD card? (disappearing widget might be an applications->SD issue?)
How is your signal area typically? Have you been having out of the ordinary abnormal connection issues recently? A bit of this sounds like it could be poor tower connection?
Do you have an AirRave/signal booster?

It's funny.. I've had each of these happening to me recently. That's why I came here, to see what's up and if there's a fix out there. Additionally, I've started getting the "Unable to detect time zone" problem as well.
The answering phone calls bug happens to me pretty frequently. I try answering the call and it switches to the "unlock" screen before it'll answer. The phone stops ringing, but once I unlock it, the call is still there, unanswered and I have to click the "answer" button. The extra steps have made me miss more than a few calls.
This is what I get whenever I reboot my phone (hold power button for 10 seconds). Never got this unless the phone rebooted itself randomly, and never before the latest update. Anyone else?
You can make it stop by going to Settings > About > Tell HTC and error reporting, and deselecting Report errors to HTC.

Ever since the last OTA I have been experiencing text issues along the lines of what others are stating. Sometimes they show as going out but really don't until I reboot the phone. The time on the texts change to the new time as well. Notifications seem to stop and when I hit the power button to turn the screen back on I get all the texts and notifications. I have also started seeing the same problem answering calls in the last couple weeks. I go to answer and instead of answering it goes to the unlock screen then the phone screen where I manually have to answer. Just now I turned the screen on and had a bunch of texts with the phone locked up for over a minute. Weird stuff. I keep sending the "error log" on each reboot so hopefully we will see a fix soon. Rebooting (shutdown not restart) seems to clear it all up for a little while (maybe hours) but it comes back eventually.

Have you tried the simulated battery pull to restart? Hold down the power button for about 10 seconds until it starts counting down (keep holding it...), and then it restarts.
If that doesn't work, try taking out your SD card, and see how it acts then. Sometimes they can cause weirdness.

Been running in to 1 - 3 for a few weeks now, Very annoying. Came across this looking for a solution.
I get this message even when I reboot it normally (hold power button till it gives menu and select reboot).
I also have the set datetime thing occasionally as well.
I hope the jellybean update fixes this crap, though I suspect it is HTC sense issues.
(Is CM10 up to snuff with everything working? Should I just root already?)

Yes. Since the last OTA. Its something with the OTA. Ive had my phone since June and no issues. All of these started immediately after that OTA.
If you go into settings, about, tell HTC and error reporting, Report preference, and select automatically send error report rather than ask me each time you will not see the message just recovered from an abnormal reset.

Same here. Has anyone factory reset to see if these issues go away?
I've also experienced loss of blue tooth in my car randomly.

Same here. Plus I frequently find that when this is occurring, I go to settings and it tells me that Mobile Network is unavailable.
I wonder if it might be some app or combination of apps that aren't playing nicely and perhaps we can find a pattern.
Here are a few apps that I initially suspect because they access data and/or WiFi settings.
2x Battery
Power Toggles
Smart WiFi Toggler (very recent)
The obvious answer would be to disable them one-by-one and I've started that process, but the problem is so inconsistent that it's hard to tell if it's gone or just lurking around waiting to fail again.
I finally had enough on Sunday and did a factory reset. It seems to have solved many of the issues I was having like no error report, weird phone ringing not able to answer, losing blue tooth, etc. So far so good. The only thing I've noticed after 4 days is it starting hanging a little while I was opening my Lotus Notes work email.
