What is this tiny almost transparent circle in my notification bar?
Yesterday I noticed this odd almost transparent circle object in my notification bar at the top of my screen. However when I pull down the tray nothing is there? I went to see what was running the the settings and nothing odd was there? I killed everything and it went away. Then it came back later so I had a friend text me and when I cleared the text notification only in the tray it disappeared? I have never seen anything like it before and unless you look it's almost hard to see. I thought maybe this was Sprint backdoor software and someone was trying to remote diagnose my phone or view my screen so I killed my Wifi and 3g but it kinda scares me they can take over whenever they want? I don't have many apps installed other than what came stock (Google Voice, Xfinity Channel Changer app, Flixster, PlayerPro and Dead Trigger. I've also disabled many of the stock apps like Google+, Facebook, Shopper, Gmail, Soundhound, twitter, etc... If someone could help me figure out what it is, as I have included pictures below.
ave you played with the voice recorder app recently?
do you have the latest software updates?
are you rooted?
did you soft reset the phone?
do a sim pull -- press and hold the power off button until a message pops up and tell you to keep pressing the button. eventually it will shut off. once it shuts off, release the power button and have it boot up normally. no user data will be deleted.
EDIT: go to settings, about, "tell htc and error reporting", and see what you have there.
anything ticked? if so, untick anything there you dont need to send anything to htc.
then re check.
open up the voice recorder app, start a recording. press the home screen and see if the icon behaves differently.

Wow, thanks that one was close. I checked the voice recorder icon and even started a call and it went gray but no transparent. But it was close but no cigar as the voice recorder is still a little too big and it's solid. I have the latest updates, not rooted, no soft reset (not for an icon anyway, lol), Tell HTC I have everything unchecked.
A few people have suggested (other forum) that it is a beats logo, another Google weather icon but I've turned both on and it's not them. Sorry nope, I had the weather card turned off. So just now I turned it on to test and no. Also Google weather wasn't being shown when this icon was appearing. Nothing was in the tray, other than the persistent HTC power thingy. Any other ideas anyone? Come on someone has to know what this is and I pray it's not the light for some perv at HTC or Sprint to be watching my screen, LMAO! Thanks again for the ideas!

I can recreate that dot for a second when I open my SongPop App. It appears while the app is opening up, almost as a place holder for the App and then goes away once SongPop main screen comes on. So my guess is an app is freezing while trying to run and that placeholder (for lack of better word) just sits there.
This icon COULD BE the result of the latest jb updates, which I assume you have done.
I have not updated my phone to jelly bean so that icon is probably on many phones post jellybean. Question is, what have you done to activate whatever that icon is..?
Soft reset : try and do a sim pull as I explained above to soft reset the phone and see if it clears the issue.
Also, can you recall what you were doing prior to this icon showing up?

Try downloading System Panel Lite. It will give you a bunch of info, showing the active applications, dormant applications, and "service only processes". Use this to identify what is running on your phone.
Do you have Pulse app installed? This looks like the icon for the app. When I have the app open and watch an in app YouTube video and go to full screen the icon you are seeing shows up in the exact location faint and all on my phone. It goes away when I exit back to the Pulse app. I dont see it any other time.
I'll hop on this thread too. I started my own thread today as I didn't see this one but I have the same Icon on my phone....hmmm....
EDIT:
I figured mine out. :-)
I have an application for playing cards called "Card Shark". Every time I quit the app, that little ball is there until I swipe down on the notification bar. Still not sure what the icon means but I know what's causing it.
Do you by chance have the same game installed?

As I have said before, this little Circle seems to be a place holder for an App's (any App not just particular ones) Notification area Icon, even if that app doesn't have a Notification Area Icon. Think of it like a spinning Hour Glass on old Windows. Apparently for some it is getting stuck and just staying there. I can recreate the dot when opening several different apps but never get it to get stuck.

The HTC EVO 4G LTE is Sprint's version of the HTC One X. It comes with all the same specs, except for the processor, internal storage and radios (includes LTE). And aesthetics are also significantly different.
