For anyone in the TX area (Austin, Dallas, Houston) there is an app called Tabbed Out. You open a bar tab with your phone, and then you can pay out with your phone without having to go to the bar again. Works in restaurants that participate too!
It's growing every day and is the most awesome app I've ever seen. Brilliant.
That is AWESOME! I hope that catches on and spreads. (I live in Atlanta.)
I use a lot of the apps shown but would like to add a few I like that are not as Mainstream or well known.
Radar Now - I live on the Gulf Coast so when on my Jet Ski and take a break its nice to know where the rains comming from and approx when it may hit. Now if it could only track the oil slick.
Engadget - This is a cool app for checking out what going on in the electronics world.
Pkt auction - Great app for people who like to use ebay.
Craigsnotification - This is an awsome app for craigslist. just put in a keyword and it will auto notify you in your notification bar when a listing(s) is added. Can also do more than one keyword.
Zillow - An app for real estate listings and foreclosures but uses google maps and GPS to display home prices and great info on homes that your near. Even if your not into Real Estate this is fun to see the prices of houses in some areas.
PAYPAL - Good app if you use Paypal.
WIFI Analyzer - I love this app. I am in the Home Electronics biz and this app is awesome for looking at the wifi spectrum to make sure any and all wireless devices are spaced apart channel wise to increase range and insure that your are getting good range on each channel.
yxplayer - This was the only AVI video player that I could find that worked for me(although im sure there are others). A friend sent me a halarious fake SONY news Skit but was in AVI format.(PM me if you would like the AVI it's super funny but explicit be warned)
Radiant (light) - pretty good space invader / galaga type game.
Line Rider - draw a line and let him ride.
Thats all I got for now but ALWAYS looking for new and interesting stuff.
I can't put the damn phone down long enough to get work done. This game is SO addictive! But then again... I DO have a destructive side taylor-made for stuff like this.

flight director. might just be the best game ever made. but for showing off, layar. i just go to the mall, turn on the "peeps around" layer, and i can see everyone that updated twitter from a phone.

Great time killer. I have been playing flight director since I had the hero. Looks even better on the big screen. Super tumble and Armored Strike are great too. I love the gameloft games because of the way they look but some of the most simple games are the best

Not fun but App Organizer is great if 7 screens become too little space and you need more room for apps. You can group them in categories and open them with two clicks. Saves a lot of room for more WIDGETS.

Can someone PM or post the link for the Tabbed Out app? I can't seem to find the app on appbrain. I live in the Austin, TX area and have heard good things about this app from my friends who have it on their iphone. Been wanting to try it out for some time.
Nevermind, I found a link for TabbedOut for those in Austin/Dallas or Chico areas:
love swype for texting
love world news app(kick ass newspaper app) , app brain, and for fun Parallel Kingdoms--(if you play use alhme as referral code), also like air contol and homerun battle 3d
It allows you to subscribe, then follow your favorite podcasts. you can stream or download them but even more importantly... you can play the videos via your hdmi cable directly to your tv
I don't know why no one has mentioned this one. My Favorite:
Locale - Locale dynamically manages your phone settings based on conditions, such as Location and Time. Never worry about your ringer going off in the wrong place or at the wrong time again. You can set it and forget it!
It is by far the most useful and helpful app that I own. It does cost $10, but if you change locations throughout the day, it is helpful. I have my house to be loud and wifi on, work to be quiet and wifi on, movies to be silent and screen brightness down, default to be loud and no wifi, and Monday meetings from 9:00-10:00 is silent. It also can change your background, just for fun. At work, I have our church logo, to keep me more productive and less distracted.

3D Compass is my favorite compass app and is great for showing off the phone. Puts a 3D compass over top of live video from your camera as well as displaying your position on a map, current address and speed.

Could you explain a little more in detail? How do you use it as a mouse or control the programs on PC?
First download the app MultiRemote to your handset. There is a companion app for your PC, which is easy to find through help within the app. (Click download on the home page and you will have the 2D URL barcode for the app, and a link for the zip called "server" or something close to that.) if you download it to your handset, you'll then need to move it to a good place on your PC.
The file you will download is a .zip, so you will have to extract the contents use winzip, or i use a free zip tool called "7-Zip". once unpacked run the executable JAR file contained in it.
at that time you'll see this...
then open the app on your phone.... and select or input your IP address. once done tinkering and you get a connection, the magic just happens. use the large part of your phone screen to move the cursor on your PC, and the buttons below well they're self explanatory.
A final thought, this app is neat, i can't wait to tinker with the wii-remote emulation, but for just mouse function the remotedroid ( http://androidapplications.com/11525-remotedroid )app is better because they have integrated a keyboard for text entry. It installs a little easier, only because it TELLS you your IP address. probably not difficult for you to get that info on your own

I just used gmote as a remote app for my pc during a presentaion at work Tuesday. Worked great, wifi needed. I was able to open files on my computer and the server at work, the only downside is that using the internet was a little clunky, but overall a great app.
2 days ago, kindle for android was finally released. I downloaded it and it immediately synced with all my purchased books, right down to the page I am on, with my kindle. That's a nice feature.
I had kindle on my iphone, and actually like reading on my phone better than on my kindle. (With my vision, I need the backlighting). So with a bigger brighter screen, it will really be nice.
Love Grocery IQ, it does so much for a free app. It's best feature may be how it syncs with my husband's phone, so whatever he adds to the list shows up on my list, and whatever I add also shows on his. Same for when one of us purchases something and checks it off the list.
TikL Touch-to-Talk: this walkie-talkie app seems to be glitchy for some, but works fine between our phones, and is very handy.
Tunee, for free music.
No-Lock for getting rid of the lock screen and being able to use the volume buttons to turn the phone on.
Lookout for easy data backup, anti-virus and phone finder.
I have many of the others that have been mentioned, but these are some I thought I'd hit on as having found very useful.
SystemPanel App (full version). Best system monitor/task manager I've used. It is awesome for those who want to actually "see" how Android allocates memory. Once you see how the memory is used, it is much easier to optimize battery life. SystemPanel App should come standard on ALL Android devices. It is that good...
Just added App Organizer. Now a 'Must Have' app. I went from 7 screens to 3 by adding app folders. Changed the names + icons. Such a sleek design now.
+1
Also Folder Organizer lite is a must have,...it has actually replaced App Oragnizer for me because it allows you to set up app folders in the same way plus allows you to create custom icons on the home screen. I don't think App Organizer does this.

Thanks a lot for taking the time out for writing and sharing along with a screen shot. You are the best!

I love this app too and also looking for something additional where I would want the screen to timeout but would wake up as soon as I pick it up or make any movements with it... Some of you may have the same issue, I have to use the power/volume buttons to turn the phone on like 50 times during my work day... Tried looking around but no luck yet Especially since my volume buttons are not so smooth & feel clunky every time I use them(Manufacturing Defect).
lets list some apps and games every EVO owner should have, ill start.
1. google goggles
2. launcher pro
3. account authenticator for battle.net (for world of warcraft)
4. ringdroid
5.sketch wars
6. my paper plane
7. barcode scanner
