Looking for two apps, would anyone lmk if they exist....

- Anything out there that truly edits a music title?
I've changed/cleaned up the title on a few but when I pull the song up on my player it still shows as the old name.

- Any equivalents to Root Explorer, preferably free?
I tried ordering RE thru the Market and it wont accept the CC that's on file for whatever reason, it asks for another CC which I don't feel like doing.?!?!?

TIA!

+1 for iTag. It's got a few kinks that still need work but it's the best out there that I've tried.

^ I've actually found the latest updates to Google Voice to be better than Vlingo ever was......

Anyone know if there's an app in existence that doubles as a home theater/tv remote control?

I tried that app, but every time I plugged in headphones or an auxiliary cable, it would start playing the last song I was listening to. Didn't matter if I had killed the app, rebooted the phone, or not used it for days, it would start right back up. Pissed me off, so I just uninstalled it.

ya my only beef with vlingo is that you have to have the screen on and app open to 'wake it up' and also once you say search NHL scores, you go to google but then its all touch screen from there on in. I wish they can integrate voice web navigation too. and i wish you could wake it when on standby. if those two things were part of it I would pay good money for that app!

also google voice is not ready in canada yet just tried

I tried PowerAMP and was disappointed. It didn't download album art as advertised. The EQ feature was a plus but what good is this feature if the volume of the app sucks.

DoubleTwist is a more powerful app.....................

Given that the Evo doesn't have an IR blaster, any remote app will only work on network connected equipment.

I don't see it that way. Vlingo also does punctuation. Any half decent voice app will work with the person speaking slowly and clearly enough.

You can turn the volume of the app up in the preamp. IMO it's the loudest music app and I've tried quite a few.

I assumed you could but I will delete any app that forces itself upon me like that on principle alone. That is unless it is vastly superior to its competition and this app is not.

Vlingo would be my choice if it didn't reboot my phone EVERY time I turn off my Bluetooth after using it. They need to provide a separate download for Safe Reader and InCar.

It has settings for prettymuch everything you can think of. My main reason though is the sound quality. The eq/preamp is just fantastic. Plus I like plugging it in and having it just turn on right away

Default APPS others might not know about

ok guys i am looking to start this tread for you non typical apps as in apps other ppl might not normal see or look for but are useful. For example i know alot of ppl use like pandora, astro, shootme and ect. Lets name some off the block apps that others might find fun or useful.

I kick it off with two that i have found...... GARDEN OF WEEDEN. you get to grow your own little pot plants. Another is FATBOOTH where you take a pic of someone mainly their face and can make them FAT lol.

Are there any apps which will allow me to directly stream video from my PC at home?

I'd love to be able to watch all my downloaded videos streamed directly from my PC.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciate. Thanks guys!

Orb streams pc vids to your phone in HD, if you use 4G, automatically.

If on 3G, it streams in SD.

Soon, hopefully, it will stream in a codec that the hdmi out can handle so we can stream our pc vids anywhere.

They have portable hdmi in projectors too.

Thanks a lot tjennhw. Do I have to upload stuff, or will it search my PC for Media?

To each his own, I guess.

I have a ROM with an equalizer that adjusts the mini output, phone speaker, and bluetooth devices independently, and the settings work for ALL audio on the phone, rather than being limited to a media player. I guess I'm not sure what other settings I'm missing (I've tried numerous media players, too). Glad it is working for you, though.

-download server app at orb.com
-choose directories of media
-settings>flash
-refresh media sources
-logon with your phone's internet browser

No uploading needed.

I found that auto test speed works only if you're not moving (driving). If you're driving, use 320k speed so your video won't stop if you lose your 4G connection.

You can refresh your media directories on the road if you have some sort of remote to your computer, like logmein.

The preamp does a mediocre job compared to Double Twist. I tried all settings in the preamp and none come close to the loudness and clarity of Double Twist. The setting that comes the closest is "Phone Speaker Loud". Even then, I get good volume, but the sound quality is compormised.

For any World of Warcraft users out there I like the Ventriloid app. It functions just like the PC version of Ventrilo. Now you can bug your guildies while at work...

Try the ADW Launcher EX from the market. It's an awesome way to customize your EVO in several ways.

A few new apps i am enjoying.

Evernote i like this because you can edit the notes from an app on the pc and it syncs back to your phone, there is a plugin for firefox so you can save a whole web page, which can be edited on the pc.

Zillow Real estate app.

The Coupon app seems to be the best from the others in this category.

Mighty Grocery shopping

Scanner radio

World Newspapers Awesome app for reading articles on varies news sites and magazines, deleted half of my bookmarks since i can read using this app and save the articles for offline reading.

Point Inside airports & mall maps

For some reason Orb sucks for me. It may be my computer but I'm not sure. VLC S&C has been awesome for me inside my network but I haven't gotten it to work outside of my network (other users report it does work outside of your network using 4G or 3G). Check it out.

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but Sketch Book Mobile is fun to play around with.

Not sure if "Square" has been mentioned. I can't really comment on the functionality of it, but I just noticed it in the market and it seems like it will be rather helpful.

It is a free credit card scanner for your phone. If you download and activate the app, they send you the phone attachment for free. They take a percentage of each payment that you take through their service, but it adds a bit more security over taking checks (if you don't have your own check authorization company). This will be extremely beneficial for my side job doing home theater installs.

Beware, I have heard they run a credit check on you, make sure you aren't applying for anything else credit wise at the time, one could mess with the other. Also the fees are a tad on the high side.

I'm open to any suggestions for a convenient way to take credit card payments that does not have a monthly or annual fee. You pay a bit for convenience, but with the relatively small amount I will be doing, this sounds great.

Pay Pal is another good option, the downside is not all of your customers will have Pay Pal accounts.

If you let them use your phone to access their account you can.

BV, sorry, it was a tongue in cheek suggestion, viable but also a bit of a joke.

Thanks to this thread I found an option to PowerAmp for playing ogg format music files and it has an equalizer with some nice features.

MixZing

I also found PowerAmp to be too eager to turn on, and too hard to turn off.
