I sure haven't seen anyone reporting a newer hardware version besides 0003. I got hardware version 0003 at launch date and couldn't be happier.

I should hope they don't need to keep re engineering the phone more that 3X or we are all in trouble!

If they keep coming out with new hardware versions of the EVO, they might as well release an EVO 2. Hopefully by the time the white EVO comes out they would have a firmware update to fix the issues that are at hand now. I definitely will be getting a new phone IF and only IF HTC has a recall for version 0002 and 0003.

I got mine June 4th which is launch day and I have version 0003, no problems yet but I have read that HTC is going to be fixing all the hardware issues on newer models.... They said the glue under the screen wasn't layered correctly.

Have a 0003, only problem is slight light leakage that doesn't really bother me. Everything else with the phone is perfect.

I have a black EVO 004 as well - Jan 2011
Only problem is that there is some light bleeding under the 4 buttons (home, menu, back, search), and the glass is a little raised compared to the body - other than that, it is ok.

Default 004

Jan 2011 and its an 004. No light blessing or raised screen. Not sure if it supposed to but my charging port lights up on the top of it when my screen lights up. Kinda like that though cuz I can find my port at night easier.

Got 0003. This is my third Evo though. First one had light leak bad, they replaced it under warranty. Second one came to me with a dead pixel. They also replaced it under warranty. The third one is quite fine. From what I've seen, people were saying that one way you could tell what version you have by using the screen brightness widget. If the brightness phases in and out, you have 0002. If the brightness snaps and changes instantly, you have 0003. This is what I've just heard, not sure if its true. I know however, it is true on mine.

Also a 004, bought 12/10 with no issues except the annoying hairline crack by the volume down button that others seem to have also.

Just had my launch day version 0002 replaced because of a bad charging port on 6/3/11. Sprint sent a brand new EVO to the repair center. Its a version 0004. Is there a version 0005?

I've had to 0004 units and one 0003 unit.

My first EVO was 0004, got it in 12/2010.
My Second EVO was 0003, got in 4/2011. I sent it back because of a defective power button.
My third EVO is 0004, got it in 4/2011 as a replacement for the defective 0003 unit. My first EVO was the best of the bunch. I never had a problem with it. I sold it to get an HTC Arrive. That was a mistake. The Arrive is a good phone, but not worth selling the EVO for, in my opinion.

Had to get a replacement for my launch day evo 002. The replacement had issues and I talked the store manager into giving me a new one.

Its a 004 and I picked it up 6/9/11 battery door date is 4-30-11 and it is perfect. Vibration motor is way stronger then my 002.

My original EVO (10/1/2010) was a 0003, and the only major problem that I had with it was that I dropped it in the toilet. Not as gross as you might think...it just fell out of my pocket and the lid was up.

I now (since March) have a 0004 (thanks to the insurance), and have had no issues. Even the GB upgrade went flawlessly...the second time.

004. Black. Got it about a week ago. I think it has the bit of raised screen in the bottom right quadrant. Gonna try to return for a 3VO regardless.

My wife has a hardware version 0004 Sprint HTC EVO 4G that was purchased last week. It has slight light bleed from the four home buttons and one stuck pixel at the very bottom of the screen, but neither are noticeable unless you specifically point them out.

Overall, she is very pleased with her handset. I have not heard of a hardware version 0005 for the Sprint HTC EVO 4G.

I have 0004.

Am still in the first month (Sept 2011) of my replacement EVO 4G from Sprint (my first one stopped charging, had the usb port issue, as well as other known software issues). They shipped me a brand new unit (not a refurb).

So I google searched "Evo shift 4G Hardware Version" and this thread came up on top. Since I've been lurking on this forum for quite some time, I figured I'd register and reply. I'm bringing this forum back from the dead (yet again). My apologies to those that it frustrates (lol).

I have owned an Evo Shift 4G with a hardware version of 0006. Hardware versions 0005 and 0006 do exist as of January 2012, when I purchased and upgraded to my Evo Shift. My brother owns the exact same phone and he has an 0005 model.

Unfortunately, I dropped my phone onto some pavement while pulling it out and had it replaced under the Sprint insurance with a refurb model (it's an 0004 version).

I can notice some differences that I figured I'd share to those that might care at all. The vibrating feedback in the 0004 model is much stronger and louder than the 0006 and 0005 models. I also remember the speaker in the 0006 model being a bit louder too, but I've also unlocked this phone and are using a different ROM (I rooted the stock ROM on the 0006 with the htcdev unlocked bootloader but did not flash any ROMS onto it).

Just figured I'd share the differences that I noticed.
