i'd like to actually see him use the screen. my htc hero screen stayed on even though it fell and landed in ocean water a foot high. it wasn't until i pulled the battery that the screen finally shut off. it would not turn back on.
yeah .. the phone is definitely not waterproof. he probably broke it before and then decided to make a (stupid) video. as you can see the phone never boots in the 4 minutes.
pointless.

Now can you understand why I said in an earlier post to swap your phones out before the 30 days are up if its not just right? After the 30 days someone is going to get this handset after its repaired. Still want a refurbished unit if you can help it after seeing this???

True having a failed PH swapped for refurb is not the same as getting a new one off the shelf but relax, I'm sure u have more important issues that deserve your concern .

I got banned for 1 week for posting this. I still stand by it because you will get this Bozo's phone or one like it when its refurbished if you wait till after your 30 days to exchange it under warranty.

When he returns this phone to sprint, they will ship it to wherever, and it will be refurbished. So basically they will reflash the software, and put a new case on the outside to make it look nice. Then somebody will get the phone as a refurb. Would you want a phone that's been underwater for that long? This thing is going to have MANY problems for the person who gets it next.
On a side note, I doubt Sprint let this guy exchange it. They will look at the water sensors, and if they went off (which i'm sure they did) his warranty will be voided and they wont give him a new one.

Wait....why would you get banned for posting that??
I doubt he got banned for posting that... read THIS THREAD after reading the other one (pay attention to the last posts).
Well you see I have a relative that works for HTC and the Inc has been pulled for quality issues. Thats why they are "out of stock" until mid August now. HTC will however never admit to it publicly not unlike Toyota and there problems. This is where the Moderator was wrong. I however didn't want to flaunt the fact that I had inside information on this issue.

It could also be baby oil. I know you can run electronics in baby oil and it will not zap it..people run their cooled computer through that, and they run perfectly fine all the time.
It could also be an in store non working dummy phone and they photo shopped the lighted screen on to it. Something isn't right with the screen in that video.
The thread was closed because your post was misleading people with perfectly reliable handsets. The reason is made perfectly clear in the final post in the thread.
If you feel the thread was wrongly closed then please take it up with the Admins via PM, not here.

You are saying that he might have modified the plumbing in his bathroom to have his faucet pour baby oil instead of water?

Is it just me? I have never seen that EVO Screen ever... my boot screen is white and takes a minute to switch to the 4g screen and then goes right into Sense. Maybe he Rooted and changed the boot screen and bricked it. It would make sense as to why he is giving it water damage. He is outside of the 30 days so this way he can put in an Insurance claim on water damage and only pay the 100.00 deductible. Fraud on camera.

Good observation on the black screen, mine is white as well so there is something different with his evo os.
I think you should do it over and over again until the device is completely unusable and then try to trade it in.
I'm assuming you took the water indication stickers out first, right?
Who do you think is "you?"
I didn't create this vid, I only posted it. The person who created the vid is likely not on this forum. It's like applauding a movie at the theater. No director is hearing it.

Ya maybe he was hoping the water would fry it so they wouldn't know it was rooted since the phone looks stuck on the boot up screen. Don't know...
We know this... That's why he did it... So he could just pay the deductible and get a brand new one.
If he just wanted a new phone he could have lied and said he lost it, and not destroyed this one in the process. Makes no difference whether or not it's lost or water damage to TEP.
Of course, laying about losing is is insurance fraud, but then again, lying about accidental water damage when it wasn't an accident is the same thing anyway.

Well of course he could have lied and said it was lost. You are right, there is no difference to TEP whether it is lost or water damaged. The deductible is still there. But he also wanted to make a YouTube video to show it swimming.
This girl I know accidently dropped the phone in the toilet. It went all the way to the bottom. She reached in to grab it within 5 seconds, and the phone came out fine.
Yes the phone is serious! lol
Yes freakin way!
Yes really!
And no I'm not kidding you!
No don't touch me.
Just answering a few of the guy in the videos questions lol hilarious
My 4 yr old grabbed my EVO this afternoon and jumped into the pool with me. We got out and dried it off it was fine. AND I have light leakage. Weird but awesome. Not sayin you should ditch your insurance plan from sprint.
Some phones do work after being submerged, but this is not the norm. In fact, i would say it is more of a rarity than anything. Don't try this at home.
I just dropped my Palm Pre in a sink full water and it lasted about 30 seconds before it turned off. I came back like 5 minutes later and noticed my trash can was glowing.
This time I grabbed my Evo and took a video of me putting the Pre back in the water. After about 2 minutes the backlight went out but the screen was still on, 30 seconds later it was still on.
The touchscreen is broken so I can't tell if anything actually functions, but screen is still getting power.
I just went back and looked at it and the backlight came back on.
10:57pm - Total Submerged Time: 20 minutes before it gasped it's last breath
Video is uploading to YouTube right now.
Edit: Just noticed that the time hasn't changed on the Pre, so it is still on, but frozen.
In my experience, electronics are semi-waterproof....for a few minutes. When I got my iPhone 3g to replace my original iPhone, I ran it under water just like that. It never turned off. In fact the only thing that stopped working was the cable port. It cant charge anymore.

Oh please, you have a relative that works for HTC? And after all this bs-mongering, NOW is the time you mention you have a relative that works for htc? After everyone calls your bs, and your only way out is the old 'i know someone who works for HTC'?
What about all the 'HTC customer service told me not to buy EVO' bs you pulled right before release? I'm just going to stop here, and say. Take a deep breath, and release.
When Sprint announced their first ever 4G handset at CTIA in March 2010, they dropped a bombshell on the mobile world. The HTC Evo 4G is a device that introduces a lot of firsts when compared to other North American handsets. This is the first Andr... Read More
