Until recently I had been using the stock, but am trying out PlayerPro no. I gotta say that this program, so far, has been the best I've seen in regards to pick up on the correct album art...etc. Could be a keeper for me.

Not the Pro. It does have a 7 day trial though. I'm pretty sure that they have a NON-PRO version that is free. You may want to try that? It will probably have a bunch of adds in it, not sure though. The PRO version is only just under $3 bucks. If it continues to operate the way it is now for the entire 7 days, it'll be worth it to me to pay it.
whats a good player to play your podcasts from your SD card. winamp combines them, i want to see them organized by podcast title like double twist (but double twist has too many faults to consider that)

I noticed today that PowerAmp pauses when I unplug the headphones and resumes when I plug them back in. Pretty cool when switching from headphones to the car and vice versa.

trying out doubletwist at the moment since they just updated with the wifi sync. Cant go winamp cause of the whole mac thing.
Only problem im having with doubletwist is the music i already had on my evo; it'll recognize the song but every song i have it says unknown artist. And they arent Mp3's but none of the other players had a problem with recognizing album and artist

Thanks, now if only they had a stop button, this would make this music player complete.
tried several, including doubletwist, moodagent, and stock... but the one that really stands out is PowerAMP. I purchased it just yesterday because it was really worth the effort they put into making it great.
PowerAmp's EQ has made ALL the difference for me.
my car audio system isnt great, so i can fine tune to get the best sound...the headphones at work can handle more low-end, so i can adjust as necessary. it's fantastic!
Is say the Player Pro is definitely a winner for media players, the grid view for album/artist view is nice and the player itself has a nice UI. The thing that gets me is how good it is at grabbing album artwork or even to change the artist attwork... love it!
How does the evo 4g perform as far as playing music? Right now I use a Zune HD for music listening and it is great and works well with a variety of different music files. Will I be able to play good quality music on the evo and how does it work if I am listening to music and someone calls me or texts me? Let me know your opinion and what you guys know about this.
I have a Zune and haven't used it since I got the EVO. It's pretty much equal in quality. The battery on the Zune lasted longer than the phone though, that's the only down side.
If you get a call it just silences the music and plays the ringtone. Then when you hang up the music resumes.
If you get a text the music will stop for a second while the text notification plays then right back to normal.
I think its great. I actually use it in my car via audio cable plugged into the Bose system. If someone calls me the music automatically stops. I put it on speaker and i can her the caller through my car speakers which is awesome. There are tones of ways to play music on the Evo. Your own music, where there are different music player apps besides the default one. There is Pandora which I'm sure you have heard of. Various radios and etc. So if you don't have an Evo yet and your planning on getting it. You won't have to carry that zune around. The Evo can do everything plus more your Zune can. Although I'm not sure how much space you have on your zune. Space shouldn't be a problem, unless you just have a complete butt load of music.

I think it all depends more on the experience you want rather than just the ability to play something. I still tend to prefer the Apple GUI when it comes to the music players (although I hated iTunes with a burning passion). That said, I have used a Zune (don't much like that GUI but I know people that do), and now Android (stock and double twist) and all are just fine in terms of sound quality. If this is all you are looking for I feel you could get most any mid-high end (maybe even low) Android device and be perfectly happy. The nice thing with Android is you can download other music players, although I haven't played with this much (outside the realm of double twist).

Poweramp with some proper EQ'ing for your type of headphones gives me a preferred sound to my Sansa Clip (known for its sound quality) and Creative Vision M. Running music straight from the stock player is not a great sound. It could be much better with Poweramp. Download the app and A/B the same song using both widgets for quick starting and stopping. EQ the poweramp to your preferred sound and you will be blown away by the difference between the two. Proper EQ'ing is essential for average to below average headphones, which is what 90% of people are using. Everyone's ears prefer a different sound signature as well. Why the stock player has no EQ is beyond me.

Before I purchased PowerAmp (Well worth it, IMO, especially with the OEM HTC dock), I used MusicMod.
Either way, these are the two music players that I've liked the most out of all the ones I've tried.

Been Lovin' Audiogalaxy!
It's in beta, but it allows me to stream my entire collection from my home computer to my phone wherever I have a connection! Quite snappy over 4g too! Found the initial recommendation over at Lifehacker one day
This assumes you leave your home system running which is usually better for it anyways....
I have winamp installed but haven't really used it much yet...
so bewtween audiogalaxy and pandora I'm usually good to go!
Im new to the Evo, cant say that I was on the bandwagon from the start. Ive only had it since late Nov, Ive tried many players out there but for me PowerAMP has been my fav. Its got all the features you want, a variety of widgets to suit your style, and a great EQ as well.
I like PowerAmp, but I've also been digging AudioGalaxy. It syncs the music on your home system with Android. I have a large collection (over 100GB) of FLAC files on my Windows system and can take it all with me. The catch there of course is that you need a data connection of some kind. It doesn't have the EQ that PowerAmp does, but you can take ALL of your music with you.
Extremely happy. I'm not sure which update did it, but the 3X3 widget for power amp is now transparent as well!
I kept Music Mod around because of that widget, but now that they modified the bigger power amp widgets, I can remove Music Mod (as much as I liked that one).
For those that don't want to pay for PowerAmp, MusicMod is still a very nice player.
I love Power Amp, best overall player with the best widgets. My trail isn't up yet but I will not hesitate to buy the full version when my trial period does expire.
I love the lock-screen usage.
I also REALLY like that it downloads album art and metadata per-track and stores them for use when you are not connected to the mobile network. PowerAMP FTW!!!!

It does? Is that a setting you have to enable? I have a few mp3's that I put on the phone, but initially ripped down to through iTunes, so the songs don't have album art, but have been wanting to add the album art.

Sure does... I have 200 mp3 tracks and they all have album art.
You have to make sure your phone's mobile internet or wifi internet access is turned on. Then just scroll through each song. Sit on each song for 3-5 seconds, and it will download album art from the internet. After that, your phone does not need to be connected to the internet to use the album art.
PS, in the power amp settings there is an option to clear all album art. I recommend that you do that and start fresh with your mp3's. I found that the app had an easier finding album arts for each song after I cleared all of the previous album art cache.
Hope that helps

Awesome! thanks so much. I have around 16gb worth of music on my phone, so this sounds like a weekend project, but good to know that it does that.
