So in a matter of 7 to 8 months i went through 4 phones. You ask why? well non were physically damage just the 5th phone which was the new phone that the insurance didn't give so don't get confused. 4 total phones is what i got from sprint insurance. So the problem with each phone was that it was a Refurb. phone which means its a phone that was sent in to get repaired and sent back out. Dont get me wrong the phone work great the first month or month 1/2 but after that the phone would go crazy. Turn off randomly, Freeze, stay frozen even after reboot, no calls would come in i mean anything you can think of regard nothing of physical damage it happen. after the fourth phone i went into a sprint store pretty upset spoke to almost the whole staff then finally got a manager out and she resolved somethings and let me walk out the store with a different brand new phone which work fine till the evo came but the point is the insurance stinks every phone i got i had to pay $50 dollars then have it F' up in matters of weeks. So if i have to wait a little bit and use a loaner phone im perfectly fine with that, What i pay 10 bucks extra for premium data and not able to use PFFT whoop deee dooo you have a computer at home and i would just consider it as my deductible a lot better then a 100 bucks.

Yeah it sucks i or who ever has to wait to see if its repairable but really just make the phone unrepairable and get a new one.

I haven't had the chance yet to expierence BB insurance since i have not broken my phone but we will see but id rather get a NEW PHONE oppose to getting a Refurb. Evo that i have to pay a 100 dollars for it plus the other 7 dollars sprint customer pays monthly for and maybe have software problems later down the line...
1. You should have never paid the deductible. Just be nice when you call, they deal with ass hats all day. The nicer you are, the more they are willing to help you.

2. After 3 swaps in x months... you are eligible to get a different device. Call Tech Support and request to speak to the Multiple Device Department. They will go over some options with you. Some devices don't have a comparable model. You may just be SOL.

Policy... In writing states, $100 deductible only applies when it's lost, stolen or unrepairable aka fire, water damage or smashed into pieces...

$7 a month will replace a cracked screen, broke charger port... etc...
You may have to word things differently over the phone, because even though Sprint Tech Support will tell you it's not covered. It's all covered in the policy. They're job is to tell you NO.

They will try and scare you by saying, if the warehouse gets it back, you will be charged full retail price of the phone if deemed physical damage. I do advanced exchanges at work for customers all the time. Call Tech Support and request a Advanced Exchange. You must be past your first 30 days. Within the first 30 days you are SOL. Don't damage it in the first 30.

Shoot me a PM if you need help or walk through on how to request a exchange from Sprint. It's free, they over night it and you are entitled to it if you pay the $7 / month for TEP. Without it, you are eligible for the exchange for $35. That's no matter what outside of your first 30 days. It's like a service charge. It's not Sprint fault the manufacturer didn't do it right. So basically you pay for them to over night you a new one, to ship yours back and for Sprint to send to the manufacturer. Well worth $35 if you don't have TEP.

CANCEL your Black Tie.

Use the links below as a reference:

Total Equipment Protection - from Sprint

Normal wear and tear in the OP's situation is dropping the Evo and cracking a screen.

Even better link...

https://shop.sprint.com/assets/pdfs/en/services/service_repair/Sprint_Repair_Center_expectations.pdf

What!? What is that you say? Physical damage shows a $0 deductible directly from the site? YES!

Black Tie is a rip off. It cost more and covers less.

Thanks for this link. I printed this. I always have terrible problems with my local stores in Baton Rouge regarding this issue. It's always, "You need to file and Insurance Claim" and I have to argue back and forth. I hate being a dick, but they are always so full of shit. I wish we had a corp. store. I guess it would be so much easier.

English much? This is terrible. Insurance obviously worked great, You've got replacement phones as they say they will do. Unfortunately, the refub units you received were terrible. Maybe, just maybe, it was purely due to the hardware and not the insurance company or refub'ing facility? I don't know, did you ever wonder if it was something you were doing? Obviously, it was related to the phone's problems as the solution was found by giving you a different phone. Seems to me like Insurance did it's job.

Call Sprint and get a refund for the $50 you paid for each phone. You shouldn't have had to pay if you were having issues with the phones that they were giving you.

Now, I can see them making you pay if they determined that nothing was wrong with the phone...that's a completely different story. Sometimes, it's hard to recreate the issues you're having and it's difficult to prove until it actually happens in front of them.

So, really, it's not necessarily the INSURANCE that sucks. That may just be the Customer Service in the branch you went to that sucked.

Why would Sprint Refund him Asurion's Deductible for refurbished phones that Sprint did not refurb or provide?

It was my understanding that the deductible is paid to Asurion by way of Sprint. And even still, $50 doesn't sound like an Asurion charge because from what I understand, the deductible is $100 whenever it's charged to the customer.

So, this sounds to me like he was charged by Sprint each time he went into the store to have his phone fixed. I could be wrong, but doesn't sound completely right to me.

I've had Sprint Insurance ever since 2001 and I've actually NEVER had to pay the deductable, but I've also never lost my phone or gotten it stolen or had it smashed into pieces.

The non-smartphone deductible is still $50.00 for some models. This was also the deductible price in the past for all phones. He paid Asurion if he filed insurance claims and received a refurb unit (even if it was billed directly to his Sprint account of from his debit card directly). Sprint actually finally corrected his problem by providing him with a completely new and different model phone. Seems to me like both companies did exactly what they were entitled to do.

Default Best Buy

Has anyone recently or in the turned in their damaged phone to get a replacement whether it be free or a refurbished phone that's cover with the black tie protection plan. I just recently found out that a few best buy stores will give a free loaner phone and others will charge you a $150 to get a loaner phone which I think its a bit ridicilous, they should honor the warranty plan for all best buy stores..there should be no exception.

Last week I took my Evo 4G to Best Buy because I dropped the phone and cracked the screen. I have the Black Tie warranty. Was told I needed to put $50 deposit down for a loaner (Samsung Transform, yuck) and give them anywhere from a week to 30 days to fix or replace the Evo. Pissed, I had the store manager come over because, like many others, I was originally told that Black Tie would replace the phone immediately. He was totally uninterested and told me I must have misunderstood the procedure. I left the store with both my anger and my broken Evo. I called Best Buy national customer service and waited patiently to talk to a live human being. In my best calm and rational voice I explained to her that, after reading dozens of complaints on the Best Buy website about customers being lied to about "immediate replacement", I too had the same situation. We went back and forth a bit and she tried her best to convince me I had misunderstood the warranty. I refused to give in. Finally she said she would call the store (Lakewood CA) and put me on a conference call with Geek Squad manager. She obviously said something to him before I got on the line because he was "Yes sir, just bring it in and ask for me. I will have your Evo replaced within 2-3 days." I did just that the next day (Tuesday). Plopped down the $50 for that loaner POS Samsung Transform, wiped my Evo and told them "DO NOT INSTALL GINGERBREAD" on the replacement!!! Then I left with a skeptical attitude. Guess what? Two days later my new Evo was in my hands...with Froyo! So you see boys and girls, it's really true what they say: "The squeaky wheel gets the grease."

I had a Blackberry Curve that the trackball kept falling out. Went in and got a BB gift card for $820.00 for the MSRP of the phone. I had already replaced it on my plan so didn't need another phone. No questions asked. Black Tie Protection for Blackberries is different in that their service center is not an authorized repair facility though.
