Relax are you all void of a sense of humor. Are you all androids yourselves? I apologize if I have offended anyone jeeeeeeeeeeze. I appreciate the reply Neodorian it was helpful and I'm pretty sure I have great Sprint coverage in my area. Iv'e opted to get the EVO even though Sprint is being "difficult" and making us wait for any news at all.
No problem. It's just kinda rude that's all. We try to be friendly here and using "gay" as an insult is kinda like implying gay people are bad or stupid or whatever.
Yes, I get that it has a different meaning nowadays but as a matter of civility, we try to avoid the playground insults and slurs and such. Too easy to be taken the wrong way and we don't want this forum turning into the Sprint forums with all kinds of trash talking and flame wars.
dylan if the phone isnt finished yet theres no way it will be ready for june release... how are they gonna mass produce over 500k handsets in 1 months time. ship them to the us then distro them to all the stores in the us. it wont happen im lucky if ic an get a dell order in 2 months. and thats only 500 laptops that arnt anything over the top. if they arnt made by now with software loaded we wont have them...
that's why you just release it to the established 4g markets first
Let me try putting things another way, to offer a bit of perspective.
You show up to a random house party and start ripping on the Chicago Cubs. You think it's all in good fun... but then you find out, that the owner of said house is a die-hard Cubs Fan. You don't know the owner of the house... so really, you have no idea if he could care less about others making fun of his beloved team, or will take offense and toss you out.
My advice to you is to watch what you say, and when you show up in a new crowd, be wary of who you may be offending until you get to know the crowd better.
I already apologized about it. Let's forget about it eh? Water under the bridge? hmm? I didn't mean to offend you or anyone else who is gay.
But The Cubs do suck you could have used a better metaphore.

Considering we all still have to wait for it to pass the FCC before they even think about releasing it...and it hasn't yet. We should all keep checking though...the number should be NM8PC36100.

I said it before and I will say it again. I think the Evo could and or should be released on or around May 28th. If Sprint is partnering with Disney this would be a slick move. Prince of Persia is being released that day and we already know the Evo is tied up with the movie. Just saying

I'm glad there are other people out there putting pieces together to somehow come up with glimmers of hope for an early release. Whether it happens OR NOT, whether everyone agree's or doesn't, it's still fun and entertaining to keep hope alive and look forward to dates that are closer...just don't go holding your breath LOL

Where did you get that number from? First time I have seen any sort of #'s that were to be identified as the EVO.
I getting the Evo, but my friend just received the Incredible and he paid $99 for a 2 year contract.( His contract was up so he just renewed it).
Speculation is that the Evo will cost 200 - 250 with a 2 year contract. Evo's price has to be more competitive to the Incredible inorder for it to compete.

I was under the impression it had passed through the FCC under an NDA already? This is a usual case with premier devices, correct?

Can you show me where he got an Incredible for $99? Everything I saw said $199 after all rebates, etc.
Anyway I am fine with $200-250 since I will pay $30+ less *per month* compared to Verizon and the phone has better specs.

I'm sure you'll receive plenty of people on here commenting back on this..)(Bill comes to mind) but anywho, first off the EVO has additional hardware that the Incredible lacks. Plus look at how much MORE you pay a month for Verizon service compared to what you pay to Sprint?! Somehow I think that if Verizon is charging that for the phone then it's probably because they know they'll make it back in a couple months off of ya!
Just my thoughts however!!
Oh and potentially (confirmed by our more reliable posters) free 4G service! Where does Verizon come close to offering that?...sorry wanted to add that

... tattrpuff how do you know they just didnt attach a nda when it passed the fcc...
They usually do...HTC has them for nearly all of the phones I've searched. You can search any model number and if it has passed it gives you some documents about the radio, wifi test. It doesn't name it or give you pictures of the device passed, due to the Confidential request that is usually included in these document. But if the numbers match and there is evidence of specs in the document, you can put two and two together. But if you search the NM8PC36100 number on the FCC site nothing pops up.
NM8 = HTC FCC Code
PC36100 = HTC's EVO model number.

I saw that they want to add a "pay as you go" format, but didn't dig much deeper. Will be interesting if they bought out Trac Phone or something, but I don't think they have the cash at hand to buy somebody.

I thought the Evo's model number was something like A929600 or something.
Edit: Its A9292 I thought.

To clarify, the Evo probably has gone through the FCC, its just not been made public.
From my interpretation unless it passed within the last week or so...it hasn't gone through. It shows date submitted, which is all the paper work and presumably passing the device and the date available which is when you can actually view paperwork on the site and they are anywhere from a 1-7 days apart generally.

Hey TS,
how about you talk someone in these forums to make a widget for Windows, that pops up like a chat box, every time there is a new post in one of our subscribed threads? how cool would that be? Have a quick reply button right there, so we could avoid having to navigate all the way back into the forum to reply? Make it a paid service and not have to worry about add revenues or something?

For what it's worth, when the first iPhone was released, Apple discretely shoved it through the FCC what... 6 months in advance, to make it even more challenging for FCC scavengers to find.
Is that likely to be the case with the Evo? Who knows... but it's not unprecedented.

The model at CTIA has the PC36100 on the mock up FCC tag in the same position the real model number will be placed. I know that this model was not a finish model, but I would think it would be safe to say that is the actual model number. I could be wrong, but seem to be correct.
tattrpuff UNLESS they attach a nda which is a non disclosure agreement meaning they will not release ANY info to the public about the device
This very well could be the case if they had a total NDA...and I understand what a NDA is. Every HTC phone I've searched has one attached, but it only asks to not disclose certain things like test photos, external photos and internal photos as well as other hints to the actual device.

if they're planning on having froyo as a surprise for the release, i'd be fine with 2.1 for now. just do an OTA with froyo when it's ready....unless froyo has something to make android work better with 4g....but i'd still take the evo with 2.1 as is now.
software can always be updated later. get the major bugs out. but not matter how long their testing for bugs will be, i'm sure the users will find more when it's actually released. i've already accepted the fact that we live in a beta culture where early adopters are guinea pigs.
heck, let 4g markets get it with 2.1 and the rest of the places get it when froyo is ready. and at that time, give an OTA for us early adopters. or release it everywhere and only the 4g areas get froyo and 4g tweaked software.

I think it was riverofice that said it would not have froyo.
ROI has a test unit.
My apologies if this was posted already. I must of missed it if it was.
I doubt that they will, but would not put it past them. IF they did, Sprint better have some butt kicking ads in place; otherwise the Iphone will have all the coverage. I know we keep saying the Iphone will not come near the EVO, but we have no clue of what the new Iphone will ACTUALLY be capable of. We are talking about APPLE.

There is actually a good chance the new iphone will have a better SOC then Snapdragon. whatever is in the ipad seems to outperform everything out there right now, and if they stick that into an iphone it'll be formidable. Having said that I think snapdragon is fast enough that it won't be an issue. But i wouldn't underestimate what those apple bastards can do.
this makes me think the whole gizmodo was an apple conspiracy. i mean think about it, through this, they shorten the Evo's timetable. apple & at&t knows Sprint needs more time to prepare the phone. Immediate release means people will question it, Apple now, or wait for Evo?
It absolutely cannot be an Apple conspiracy, since Apple sent the police to Jason Chen's door to obtain his computers.

Let me know about that. I do have a discount for where I work but I don't know if it is through EVP.
I went into the Sprint store, said "oh, I work for (my company)" and they were like "OH, you qualify for a discount!". Just find the friendly guy at the counter. He'll be happy to help.

Let me rephrase...
I already got my discount for where I work. I just don't know if it is through this EVP or through Sprint directly or what.

I was prepared to pay double that honestly. That was before I was before I was able to resolve my issue with Sprint. They had my renewal. Set for the end of the year.... On another note, I decided to go into a T-mobile store and check out the HD2 and get a feel for what the EVO would feel like in my hands, I've gotta say that without a doubt the size is perfect. I'm not telling what to do, but the extra money (which may be $50 if rumors ring true) would be worth every dime. Plus the EVO is the first 4G phone with a bigger screen. I say not only does your buddy try to steal your EVO when you get it, but the iphoney crowd will too once their now (or soon to be) smaller screened money pit just doesn't shine like it once did. My 2 cents.
Glad to hear I'm not the ONLY technologically addicted female running around here LOL! I say from a female's perspective: Mr. Hesse you better hurry up and get us some EVO's...could be dangerous to your health a riot of PMS'ing women pounding on his door LOL JK JK (please no take offense to that, I'm a female so felt I could get by with the joke)
