Very interesting. The most telling things I've read about Intel's Moorestown processor is that they've adapted it to run on Android mobile devices and their prediction is that it'll allow mobiles to have 3 X's the battery life of current cell phones. That's crazy, but I'd love that!

Yeah I saw this on Engadget this morning, if Intel gets into the mobile game we'll see a 2Ghz processor on the market in under a year no doubt.

Apologies if this video had already been posted early on, but it's HTC's CEO talking after Dan Hesse about how HTC/Google/Sprint had been working since May 2008 on delivering the worlds first 4G Android handset. 2 years? This phone better live up to the expectations if it's been conceptualized since WAY back then:
That's just the time Sprint first approached HTC about a 4G phone. Back in '08 they more than likely had no blueprint much less concept of what the phone would look like or anything. Then once they start to think about features there's a big wait to see what the latest and greatest hardware out at the moment is, and finally they'd start to build a prototype after everything is on paper(maybe close to a year after the whole process started).
It's a shame we can't all get along. I happen to like what ROI has to say. She doesn't want people in this forum to have misconceptions, so she's stern at times trying to fight false rumors. As far as her knowledge of WiMAX, there is no one that matches her. Even eieio has admitted that she has much more technical knowledge than he does.
A week or two ago, I took the liberty of combining several of her posts, because it's the best information I have run across comparing WiMAX and LTE. It would be a shame if we lost her expertise in this forum.

Knowledge is great, but the debate has to be kept civil. Knowledge without kindness is worthless.

It's one thing to be knowledgeable about something and try to educate someone else. It's totally another to come in to every other thread and shoot someone else's ideology simply because you feel you need to throw your words in to boost your ego. I get a laugh out of him/her but whatever.
I don't think River means to hurt anyone, at least not intentionally. To me, people are looking at her sternness and associating it with hate, but it isn't that way. She's misunderstood more than anything, but isn't that the case for all of us at times when we're trying to get our point across?

All this waiting is definitely getting on everyone's nerves and we're all edgy. If we don't get some news next Wednesday, this place is going to implode, but that doesn't have to be the case. I think we all need to take a chill pill and move on for the good of the group.
It's only been 6 weeks since CTIA. I can't imagine what's going to happen if we have to wait another month or two. I also can't imagine Sprint announcing the EVO to the public next week, then making them wait 6 to 8 weeks for the phone. If that happens, this whole planet will implode.

This is my first post and I am happy to be part of a great group of people.
I to am waiting for that elusive release date. I am planning on switching to Sprint mainly because of cost. I was torn between the Samsung Moment and the HTC Hero. Then I saw the EVO read all of the reviews and am sold 100%.
Today I decided to chat online with a Sprint rep and got zero answers even after telling them that without a release date I was going to go to AT&T for the I-phone. I knew this would be long shot but I took it.
It is great to be on a forum with people as obsessed as I am over this Phone.

I wouldn't say I'm obsessed. It's just a phone to me. One of the best coming out but at the end of the day it's a phone to me. I won't even budge to be one of the first to get it. Just the fact that it's coming to Sprint and it was announced back at CTIA was all I ever needed to know it was real. So I wouldn't care how long I have to wait. Point is, it will be the best if not one of the best phones this year and going into next year rivaling with other phones.
But glad you joined the forum.

It is funny 60 days ago I would have told you I am going pre-paid with Straight Talk paying $130 for a phone and $90 for a plan (2 people). Then after looking at the smart phones I decided enter the 21st century. Now I am sitting and praying for a release date so that I can coordinate switching from T-moble to Sprint.
The EVO is probably too much phone for a guy who is using a Motorola krzr but if this EVO lives up to the hype I think we will all be extremely happy. I am hoping that I can ditch my 1998 laptop and use the phone exclusively.
As far as the release date goes. I too think that Sprint will make a bad decision if they don’t release it this month due to the new iphone.

We are all going to have do deal with the fact it will be out when it is out. Period. We have zero power over this.
We can say this sprint has a winner here and they know it. Waiting is part of the game. If you do not like the 7th inning stretch stop going to baseball games.

They had the incredible with them also. The Evo is bigger and the screen I thought was clearer also. IT is an awesome phone. Anyone worried about the size shouldn't be. It is very light and very thin I thought. You will not be disappointed.

Did they mention anything about a preorder or anything about best buy selling them first? I'm beginning to believe that best buy won't have it early and it will be everywhere (sprint store, best buy, radio shack etc) on June 6th. I need to find out soon because I need to know if I should get a bunch of best buy gift cards as a birthday gift or not.

I'm thinking on the 12th, since they'll be showing off the Evo, then an advanced screening Prince of Persia, they'll probably combine the two and show the movie, then say the movie was playing off the Evo storage, or even better, via live HD video stream!!! Could you imagine the publicity??!!! Although they'd need to invite some of the more popular news sites like Engadget. What do you guys thing? Good idea, bad idea? Possible/plausible/improbable/impossible?
Thats a good idea. In fact I bet that is what they are going to be doing. And we will hear about the release date. Who wants to bet me on that jk LOL
They mentioned that best buy will probably presell I think for maybe $ 50.00 deposit and possibly Sprint also. They said they are make hundreds of thousands of them though so no one will be without. Sprint stores will get the most though to start.

Bestbuy and radioshack will not get it before Sprint. Everyone will get it the same time they said. But Sprint may have some release parties a few days or a day before in a few select stores. It is truely the best phone Sprint has by far.

Wow, rebella, thank you so much for all of this information. I am marking 6 June on my calendar as we speak!
Sounds good and fits with what people have said. At least Qik will allow for video blogging and stuff like that so people won't complain about the front cam and no video chat. Over time I imagine Google or 3rd party devs will create applications to take advantage of that camera. Great news and good to hear our sources all agreeing on date.
one other thing they said that maybe Sprint will not charge for the hotspot to start since Verzion isn't for the Palm Pre and they want to compete with that. They weren't 100% on that though.

i was hoping they would do something like that, even if it is temporary. we shall see...
thanks for your bit of info.
that said, i will be camping out in front of the sprint store now.
i still think they should release it earlier because of all the apple hubbub that's going on around that time. but maybe Dan wants to show everyone how much confidence (and the size of his balls) he has in his product that he's willing to go toe-to-toe with Apple....or possibly he's just plain foolish. or he doesn't care and just does his own thing.
hope google can code something up for video chat on android, unless skype would work....or something that can work with other software like AIM users and ichat.
or just one prog/app that can work with all other vidchat programs out there.

Hello Everyone! I am very new to these threads and the phone itself I caught wind of it on the Sprint web page and began immediately digging for information. I have read this ENTIRE forum over the last week so feel like I know you guys already...
Just to sum up how alot of people think "the general public doesn't know" - we know I am not a phone techie.. I have a samsung rant for goodness sakes LOL I just never got into the bigger badder phone thing and always went for the "Cheapest" I could get phones... That time is now over.. I began looking at my bill and my minutes (use alot of data, text and hardly 300 voice!) and I have the 1500 everything family plan with 3 lines. One of my lines is temp shut down because my daughter abused it lol
I realized that with this phone plan - my phone SUCKS for it.. I wanted something that if I was paying that much for then I could use it to the fullest... I started digging and came VERY close to purchasing 2 Hero's for myself and hubby.. he could care less and thinks I am super NUTS at this point
I hope to get to know all of you more as the wait continues... I am totally not patient but my 1 upgrade isn't there until July 1 Maybe I could convince them to give it to me early - I hope lol
Anyway, thanks again to everyone - I thoroughly enjoyed reading all of it!
Christina
