hmmm not to sound like a skeptic, i hope rebella is right but i have no clue who you are, i'll listen but im also throwing on a spoonfool of salt just incase... hope your right and we can trust you
The cynic in me had the same thought as well, but for what it's worth, rebella has been on the forums for a few weeks prior and did make a few other random posts here and there (I checked his post history because I'm just that type of guy). That would eliminate the possibility of rebella being someone who got recently banned and came back under a new alias to stir the pot.
Nothing personal rebella, hope you're not offended by any of this. It's just that we've had so many ups and down, and are all eagerly awaiting this phone. Thanks for taking the time to post up - we do appreciate it!

Also....will I be able to buy this phone at a Sprint store that is not in a 4G area...because I will be in north east Tennessee....and wonder about this....panic sets in....wow....can't believe this! I want to have it for my trip home if possible! YAAAAAY! Please help...I've regressed and need to know if I can get this phone on that very first day....while out of pocket?!
Ooooo.....aaaaah. Yeah Baby!

They said the EVO advocates will get the phones on May 17th and be trained on them May 24th. The EVO will go on sale June 6th.
Another one in the win column for Jackson then. Thanks a lot rebella, though I'm hoping (don't kill me everybody) that Apple counters with something to get Sprint to push up the release a week. I don't know why, but I really want it in May.
Device(s): Palm Pre through Sprint. Upgrading to htc evo 4g

Wohooo June 6th couldn't come soon enough to get my evo..to bad my bill is due on the same day. Uggg..what to do what do to. Oh wait..i paid for this month early so yeah..i will save big time. Hehehe I even have a gift card.
This is perfect for those that bought the palm pre on the day it came out (like myself) because you should be a sprint premier acct and be eligible for the upgrade on for the EVO on the 6th.
P.S. If you see that I have a hero for "devices" it is because i sold the pre on ebay and bought the hero on ebay (best way to go for phones that have been out for sometime!)

I just made a phone call. Someone I know personally just told be the same thing. They are making rounds. The info seems generally true, but different dates, I got the 17th and the 19th.
She seems to be true.
It is good to question everything. Blindly faith will led you off cliffs.
Rebella, thank you for stepping forward. Any information helps.
But please, lets remember, plans change. Nothing is set in stone.
If the dates do not wash, remember. They can change.

Really bad for sprint. They are releasing in the middle of apple week. We, the people that are going to use this phone, are going to have to beat the drum really hard.
So get out the tee shirts guys. We have to do some major cheering to do.

I couldn't agree more! The bigger the community, the better the sales.

Wow no charge for 4g hotspot! If true I will be canceling my home internet!
Don't disconnect too fast! You don't want to get hotspot service at home, then leave the house with an Evo with only 25% juice remaining. Nobody seems to know how battery performance will be even with the thing plugged in the whole time.

True, but I highly doubt that with the hotspot running it will drain more power than it takes in while charging. If it does, it wouldn't last 2 minutes on battery alone.
I work for Sprint and met with the HTC people today and they showed us the EVO. Man what a cool phone.

All's I can say is THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! And I'm sure I can speak on behalf of everyone in this forum!! If this is all legit, this is the best news that we could've heard through the grape vine so to speak!! I know what you've said has been speculated before, but It's nice to have more of a concrete idea that we can all look forward to b/c this phone's going to be a game changer and a phone for other to follow behind!! So as It looks right now were a month away from release!!!
LET THE REV0-LUTION BEGIN!!!!

Hey Rebella, definitely let us know about those presale parties when/if you hear about them. I was at the early one for the Pre last year in NYC and had a blast!
EDIT: Also glad to hear another confirmation on what I had said earlier this month about the June 6th date from my Sprint contact!

Oh, and not to even mention the given release date--limited time free hotspot is a great idea. Builds hype, gains customers, satisfies enthusiasts, and still allows Sprint to make money in the long run. They should definitely do that, I think.
Hello Everyone! I am very new to these threads and the phone itself I caught wind of it on the Sprint web page and began immediately digging for information. I have read this ENTIRE forum over the last week so feel like I know you guys already...
Just to sum up how alot of people think "the general public doesn't know" - we know I am not a phone techie.. I have a samsung rant for goodness sakes LOL I just never got into the bigger badder phone thing and always went for the "Cheapest" I could get phones... That time is now over.. I began looking at my bill and my minutes (use alot of data, text and hardly 300 voice!) and I have the 1500 everything family plan with 3 lines. One of my lines is temp shut down because my daughter abused it lol
I realized that with this phone plan - my phone SUCKS for it.. I wanted something that if I was paying that much for then I could use it to the fullest... I started digging and came VERY close to purchasing 2 Hero's for myself and hubby.. he could care less and thinks I am super NUTS at this point
I hope to get to know all of you more as the wait continues... I am totally not patient but my 1 upgrade isn't there until July 1 Maybe I could convince them to give it to me early - I hope lol
Anyway, thanks again to everyone - I thoroughly enjoyed reading all of it!
Christina
if youre within a month or two if your contract renewal they'll let it slide, most Sprint Employees want customer satisfaction now... and sales.

You'd think so, but I know on my 700wx, the battery drains faster than it charges when I'm streaming video. I'm not sure how newer phones handle it. I hope it's able to retain the charge when plugged in & streaming/hotspotting (?).

Reason: Because hotpotting hasn't been introduced as a feature yet. :)
if it's a hotspot it MIGHT out run the charge, verrrrry slowly, figure it this way, if in constant hotspot mode it runs 4 hours off of charge, and it takes say 5 hours to charge fully, then it WILL slowly deplete the battery even if charging... some of these features are only meant for temporary 2nd function use (mainly the hotspot ability) i really wouldn't advise using it as your primary hotspot/ wifi connection

Yeah, I hope so too.
Hotpotting or Hotspotting ?

My Premier 1 year upgrade won't come until Aug 1st. But once an official announcement drops, I intend on calling Retentions, complaining about my Pre & asking if I can advance my upgrade date for the Evo. As icing, i'll point out that i'm so fed up that I was about to jump ship for the Incredible BUT just "saw this commercial for the Evo" and am willing to stay for that. Ought to work.
I asked them about the black and white cases and all they knew of was a black version. They said if Sprint wants many colors HTC can do but to start only black is the color they knew of.

@rebella Do you know or can you confirm if it's going to have the 8gb on board memory like the htc incredible or only going to have the reported 1gb?
what else from what you've seen can you tell us??
They said the official release date will be released in a couple of weeks, at a big event which I assume may be the May 12th event you speak of in NY. We will also hear about it in the weekly playbook soon I think.

Thanks again for everything!!
you are confusing ROM with internal storage... the inc only has 512 ROM, and then 8gb of internal memory, think of this like a micro sd card that can't ever be taken out... it is NOT rom... which the EVO has 1gb of, not 512mb
