I think the same thing happened with the Palm Pre and preorders (pun!) and a lot of people had to wait for a second wave of units to come in to stock.
Best Buy would not want to meet me under those circumstances ..that I can promise LOL psycho female with 3 kids and tell me I can't get a phone... would not be a pretty result..

The stuff that started flying after Trident said he'd be out for a bit was at best juvenile, and more along the lines of inappropriate and had no purpose at all.

If people can't act even semi-responsible, thankfully there are mods to shut it off. I'm no prude and believe me, I could tell you some jokes that would make you blush, but seeing a Kermit the Frog, ass slapping a lamb, just isn't my cup of tea AT ALL. It was funny for about 1/2 a second. The banana was right along the same line of reasoning. Seriously, are we in 8th grade here?

Most people in here are serious about the EVO, while having fun discussing it. Having a thread locked everyday for 3 or 4 days in a row gets old, bothersome, and tiring.

Good rule of thumb: If you think, "hmmm, I wonder if I will get in trouble for this?", it's probably best to just not post it.

As I said, just my $.02

Not a chance. Once I showed her all that the Hero could do (Remember this was back in October when the Hero really was cool...) she wanted this thing bad.

I actually offered to buy her an EVO and she said no, the Hero was fine.

They did the same for the palm pre (the gift card thing).. but you were promised a phone.. What would be the point of pre ordering anything if you weren't promised to get one on the date? That would be odd if they did that!

it might be better to get your phone from radio shack because BB might run out fast, but radioshack might get a smaller amount of units available...any thoughts?

As far as my experience goes with Best Buy, if you pre-order you are guaranteed a phone but if you don't pick it up on the agreed upon time or date you lose it.

not all stores, my local store would NOT pre-sale a phone, but b/c i had come in there so much wanting to know more about the pre and trying to get them to pre-sale it, guy mobile manager did hold one for me if i was not near front of line (but i was 2nd person in line), but he told me they were NOT allowed to presale anything!

I'm guessing the big sprint (corporate type) stores may get 50+ per store. Who knows about BB and the smaller sprint stores. Just guessing though. If Sprint is smart they will have lots of stock on hand for this release. Why do they do Sunday releases though? I've never heard of anything else being released on a Sunday, outside of other sprint releases. Just seems to make more sense to do it on a Saturday or even some other day but a Sunday is just goofy to me.

I've got a real conundrum, I'm leaving for TechEd in New Orleans that Sunday at 11:30am I don't think I'll be able to get the phone before I go.

What do you guys think, can I pick one up there? Sprint store is 3.6 miles from the hotel...

How could she NOT want an Evo lol

On topic sorta: That link to that ebay auction with the future Evo... I started thinking (dangerous thing)... it ends on May 11th... one day before the "event" .. would it be to weird if this was their attempt at seeing how much one would sell for?

just me and random thoughts lol

As discussed earlier in this thread BB released to rewards zone members earlier, Thursday or Friday for the Hero. I was also told at the Corp. Sprint store I arrived at first thing Sun. Oct 11th that they had sold Hero's on Saturday.

Not as I understand it. Correct me if I'm wrong someone.

I live near Springfield, MO but work during the week outside of St. Louis, MO and I had plans to be in line at some store to pick my EVO up if I could get it before I headed home on the weekend.

i posted this a while back but for some of the newer people, if you have the hero, the evo uses the same battery so when u sell your hero keep the spares...also its a good idea to invest in a couple spare batteries and a battery charger on ebay, not expensive at all

LOL
My thoughts were trying to see if this could help pin point a release date.. Like the previous one for sale stated you would get the phone 2 - 3 weeks before the release to the public.. and that ended on the 10th..
IMO, i doubt that price thing because people will pay CRAZY amounts to get something just a few days early.

Hello, I've been lurking around here and decided to post something. I have watched people get banned and sent to bannedville, or where ever, and I am a little scared of posting. I'm not quite sure why people get sent away. Is it because they were off-topic? Uh, oh....

Anyway, after reading the Radio Shack release I went over to Qik.com and started an account. So my suggestion is to start an account (that you will need for the Evo), while the cool account names are still available. Just a suggestion to all of you Evo fans out there.

But is the Hero battery Ferrari Red like the EVO's??? So awesome. I will actually pay more for the official battery to use as a spare rather than getting a generic one on ebay just to maintain this look. HOT!

they should have made the backcover someone clear or something. this way you can see the inside.

unless someone wants to rock the phone without the cover

This would be an excellent idea! I'm all about modding computers to show the guts. Why not our phones?

if there was high end plexiglass/plastic design that would not show dust, i would rock that back cover.

Believe me, I will be popping off the back to show off the red internals to people every chance I get (especially smug droid and iphone using friends hehe). I think it's an awesome design choice and almost a feature in itself. The outward appearance of the device is conservative, but the shocking red beneath signifies the technological power and prowess that the EVO beholds, and signifies just how cutting edge the device is. IMO of course.

I appreciate the work the mods do to keep this thread and forum on topic and not filled with immature and off topic posts. Keep up the good work mods!!

I'm kind of concerned about him...he's always here...and this has been a banner day for news...before the problems in the afternoon.

I know..

If we don't hear from him by tomorrow (or I guess, this) afternoon, I'll PM him and make sure all is well.

Trident, I am all about keeping things sane here. I enjoy the forum when there is activity. Doesn't always have to be "on topic" but it does need to be somewhere in the realm of adult behavior. I'm with you trident, you, as the mod, have the last word. That doesn't mean we get to second guess you. you just keep doing what it is you do.

On a brighter note....won't it be cool when this community comes together around the ACTUAL phone! Yeah....we can post pics, and tips and really get the most out of this phone. It's all gonna be new to me! I'm looking forward to finding the best apps for bar code scanning, to do lists, music files, and such. I'm especially looking forward to navigation....and using handy google results....like gps aided restaurant apps and things I don't even know about yet! And the most wonderful and remarkable discoveries about this phone are just around the corner!

This is me off to bed.....peace...out.

Dude...or Dudette...don't ask me for help...you'll be backing up if you do that! LOL I own a 3.5 year old Katana! My poor wife has been asking me for an iPhone for over a year! I refuse to do business with AT&T based on a past experience....so here we are now....and she and I are both ready. I told her recently....the wait is gonna be SO worth it. Okay...nighty night!

before i think capacitive touch panel was cool since apple iphone was the only one that had it. now it's all over the place and multitouch is in every device. apple is nothign special now, other than the million of apps. but andriod will sooner or later surpass that. i wish i can get my evo and make those apple lovers shove their phone up their ass. LOL

June 6th is sounding more believable...

A sneak peek at the Shack's HTC EVO 4G sales sheets from our friend Rob | Android Central

And from what the person said it'll be $200 on contract and $600 without...What i'm wondering is how much would it be for the people that are upgrading from the pre.
