alright this took me forever to figure out the screen capture. never actually did, i got stuck trying to make it download the usb driver thing. finally said screw it i'll skip that step and move on. what do you know it worked anyways. crap, what a waste of time.. lol.

so this is just my first attempt at launcher pro and custom icons. had to resize some of them and made a few myself.

now i just need to figure out my switch widgets and i should be good to go, well good to go for more customizing

anyone know if you can change the clock font color in beautiful widgets, or is it only changeable with skins? anyways i was going for a biomechanical look with all green android colored icons/ clock. i didn't find any green clocks i liked so that changed to yellow.. oh well.

When using Folder Organizer Lite, I see that you can change the icon for the app. Is that what you recommend or is there a way to just set a shortcut with a custom icon?

How do you change the icon using folder organizer? I don't get the change icon option with neither versions of folder organizer. Launcher pro keeps force closing, so I'm back to stock setup until I figure it out.

Thanks.

Um if your using folder organizer lite, you can use all the icons from bettercut/ open home. 98% of icons can be used in folder organizer lite.

So try uninstalling everything then reinstalling it.

STEP 1
ok now the first page of folder organizer lite says applications yada yada.... those are actual folders you can apply to your home page. if you click on the downwards arrow on the right side of w.e. folder you want to use you get

EDIT LABELS LAYOUT ICONS

Lick on Icons and you get choose app. click Icon packs then hit ok.. and it will automatically load all the icon packs you have. find the icon u want click on it and it changes that folder.

step 2
NOW IF U WANT TO CHANGE INDIVIDUAL APPS
click the second colom in folder organizer lite click downwatd arrow on right side click icons, pick icon packs find icon u want click it and you changed it.

TO PUT ONE ON YOUR SCREEN.
long press home screen
click shortcuts folder organizer ITEMS
apps then pick ur app....

TO PUT FOLDER on home screen

LONG hold homescreen
click shortcuts
folder organizer LABEL
find title of folder YOU ALREADY MADE IN FOLDER ORGANIZER (check step 1)

if you guys want me to put up a youtube video on how to do this. then put thanks and quote this... it there is enough demand.. ill find time to do it... lol

good guide. But i might recommend adding them to homecreen as a widget instead of shortcut. That way when you change icons in the app they automatically update on the homescreen without recreating all your shortcuts

also for anyone that didnt know. You can save your icon setups in folder organizer. hit menu then export and name your file. to recall it just import it, and restart the phone, boom, just like you left them. I always save my theme before i start editing icons again

Wow, most of you guys really love either launcer pro or adw launcher. Can someone briefly tell me what the difference is? I just dont see much difference between those and the stock/sense. And i actually like the big clock widget.

The big thing to me is the dock at the bottom. It's scrollable, and you can add your own apps/shortcuts to the dock itself vs Sense's dock which isn't customizable. I got 10 icons between 2 rows along the bottom, and it frees up room on my home screen for a nice clean look.

Beautiful Widgets has alot of different big clock widgets, including ones that look like stock Sense. Plus, you can customize the way each clock widget looks (transparency, font, hide background, etc).

I've never tried adw. It's just user preference i think

problem with putting them down as a widget is that the name of the file isnt hidden anymore.

oh just photoshop... or more like photochop for me. i'm not very advanced with what i was doing. the rubiks cube was cut out of another picture i found. the people icon was a chopped up myspace icon. and then i made a green P for pandora to match the green jelly icons i was using. some of the others i just stretched out by opening the file in PS and hitting control T, then you can stretch, skew or rotate.

i was using a 420 x 420 box as that was the default size from Royalty Free Icons & Clipart Stock Images ~ Icons Etc.

if you look close you can see not all my icons match size perfectly. this was just my first attempt, a little rough.

thanks for posting that folder organizer guide. i didn't notice earlier as i hadn't refreshed my screen since getting home from work.

420x420 is way too big, that wider than the phones screen lol. I generally like to use 80x80. Works nice on our screens IMO

Yeah I kinda figured. At first I tried to downsize the box of those icons, but then It looked even worse. I was trying to make a set from that link, but It wasn't working out so well. As you can see I lost some definition in them. This is why I asked about how to use icons from the market in the dock.

Thanks for the tip tho, I'll try 80 x 80 next time I venture down that road.

How did you change the color of the top Info bar?

What I like about ADW is gestures and you can change how many icon rows/columns on the homescreens, up to 8x8(which let's you adjust the size of widgets as well). I have gestures set up to where if I flick up it opens previews, flick down anywhere brings down the notification bar. Which is nice because it's quite a reach to the top of the screen with a thumb. The dock bar has the four slots then the app drawer button in the middle. You can pull this up for another row of icons you can set. Also might be more overall customization options than with Launcher Pro.

Launcher Pro has nicer animations fading in and out to and from each app, and the 3d app drawer(ADW has a couple app drawers you can choose from though, I like their Galaxy S drawer, as well as setting app drawer background transparency). The best thing about LP it is the scrolling dock bar which let's you set up to 15 icons.

A lot of good things on both of them. For one thing with both you can set it not to show icon labels. You can set how quickly a screen moves when you move to the other, how much it overshoots if at all..etc. Also both rotate into landscape on home screens. Basically both give you a lot more functionality and customization than Sense, and IMO just look better. After awhile that Sense dock thing on the bottom looks ugly. As far as the flip clock, you can get one that looks EXACTLY like it called FancyWidgets. Not in the market anymore but you can find it.

you mounted you phone and have sdk already extracted. did you enable USB debugging on your phone?
On the device, go to the home screen, press MENU, select Applications > Development, then enable USB debugging.

after that open the SDK folder on your phone. click tools ddms a first screen will pop up.. wait a few seconds a second screen should pop up.

I had to install HTC sync for mine to register with the "Found New Hardware" part. Then it wouldn't show up in the SDK application until i downloaded all the resource files within the application. After they downloaded, it still didn't show up until i unplugged/plugged my phn back into the PC.

Just like wallpaper. Mount your phone as a disc drive and drag and drop your Icon folder or single icons onto your SD card. Apply them by choosing custom icon and your phone should link to your SD card.

Nice layout. I could never cram everything I need into one screen and 15 dock slots..lol. As for the notifications, they work for me..Even with Handcent instead of the stock messaging app.

thanks, yeah its not everything i use. but it's most things i use while at work. i have been changing just about everyday so i'm sure things will change. *wishing icon packs wouldn't show up in the drawer*

i still get my notifications up on the status bar, but nothing on the dock

how are you changing your lock screen? are you rooted for that?
