Question Compare Design To EVO 4G?

I'm wondering if anyone can help me. My EVO 4G (the original) phone died so insurance said they're sending me a EVO Design. I was wondering how this phone compares to my old EVO 4G? It obviously seems to be newer but I have no idea how the specs are. I was just trying to get some feedback on the phone and see how it compared / how people like it opposed to my old EVO 4G if you've experienced both.

Thanks for any info!!!

I moved to a Design after retiring my 4g. I still have my 4g and even though I like the Design I'd go back to the 4g if I was asked to.

The 4g was better and gaining root and s-off on it was much simpler. There's more current roms for the 4g then there ever was for the Design. If you're a flasher and a tinkerer then you'll have problems.

I do like the unibody approach that HTC has adopted and I like the build on the Design... the metal band around the phone and behind it is like a heat sink. When I surf too long it'll get hot and the heat will be passed all around the phone. I kinda like the feel of that. The 4g was built well and it's easy to take apart. I dread the day I'll have to do the same for the Design.

The Design has better specs than the 4g. Hope I shed some light on the matter. Others should be along shortly to add their opinions...

I assumed since the EVO 4G was the 1st flagship phone from Sprint or one of the 1st Android phones, there would be tons more ROMS and stuff available.

I've never rooted a phone before and being a huge Linux geek, I feel it's my duty to do so. Sadly I'm forced upon this phone and do agree the phone aesthetics on the design are very slick and updated compared to the less smooth / bulky EVO 4G, are you saying this phone (HTC Design) can't be rooted? I basically want to root the phone so I have the ability to remove / delete the bloat-ware apps like Amazon, Nascar TV, Blockbuster, blah blah blah...

No. You can definitely root it. I have mine rooted with a custom rom and recovery. There are roms but just not as many. What I'm saying is that there are more custom roms IN ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT as we speak for the 4g then there EVER was for the Design. So you'll never flash a different rom every other day/week.

But that doesn't mean you should not get the phone and start to develop for the phone. In that case the field is wide open.
