So just yesterday my phone started to static. Every single noise is static. From the ringtone, when I answer, dialing numbers, turning the volume up. And absolutely nothing was spilled on it. So I'm clueless as to why this all of a sudden happened. My son was playing a game on there yesterday, and was hoping he pushed a wrong button...high hopes lol. But does anybody know what could cause this? Or could reseting the phone fix the issue? And if so how do I reset?? Thanks in advance!

Okay take out your battery don't power it on yet. Hold down the volume down key and power key after you've put the battery back in. Now it should come to a white screen and the first option should say fastboot. Look for recovery. After it goes into recovery mode. Look for the factory reset option. You select it by going up and down with the volume keys. And power button for select after that's done select reboot. THIS IS IF YOUR ROOTED.

IF YOU AREN'T ROOTED, go to your settings and go to storage, and at the very bottom it says factory reset select it.

HTC phones are not known for their quality speakers. It's entirely possible that your speaker just gave it up. You might make certain that the speaker is clean. If you have your phone in a dusty/dirty environment you might try blowing on it.. by mouth (not canned air) to make certain you don't have a foreign object causing your grief.

A factory reset has been advocated. If it is a software problem that would definitely resolve the problem. Be advised that if you follow this course of action that everything will be reset factory fresh and everything on the phone will be wiped. Backup all of your important items such as photos, texts, music, etc prior to doing a factory reset. Best of luck to you.

It would make more sense that it's a software problem considering both speakers went out at the same time. It's unlikely for two speakers to physically go out at the same time while not simultaneously being used. That of course is if an outside force didn't play a part in this.

Of course this is assuming that it is both that are not working properly since the poster stated "when I answer," which leads me to believe the in-call speaker is also just static.
