HTC Evo Shift 4G and White EVO 3D Set to Hit End of Life?

Just saw dis yesterday figured post how disappointed I am when I barely just purchase dis early April of 2011 now my epic quest in finding a new Qwerty Slider similar like my HTC Evo Shift 4G which I totally <3 & hate!! now upon reading dis thread/news they are EOL my poor HTC Evo Shift 4G now will there be a/an HTC Evo Shift Remix 4G/Evo Shift 2 4G/Evo Shift 3D 4G in the near future?? that is the pending question!! replacing my Evo Shift!!

It looks like a couple of Sprintís devices are about to hit end of life. One of them is quite recent. Itís the white edition of the HTC EVO 3D. Looks like black is the more popular choice with that particular phone as that version is safe. The EVO Shift 4G is also on the list. It was a mid-range alternative to the main EVO line with its unique keyboard compared to other EVO devices.
Remember, just because these devices will soon be off store shelves doesnít mean you wonít be able to buy it elsewhere or get software updates. Thatís especially important for those of you with the white EVO 3D as that device is set to get Ice Cream Sandwich sometime soon. [via SprintFeed]

Humm....I have have an HTC EVO 4G that I just got in August 2011 and do love it. My upgrade does not come until July of 2013.

I know that EVO 3D came out after the 4G. I know that I will not be getting any more software updates, but I hope that HTC does not completely abandon all support for the older EVO devices

Um. What? Proper English/grammar is your friend.

I think the Shift's been EOL'd for awhile. It hasn't been on Sprint's website for like a month. Also, purchasing it a year ago is hardly "just" purchasing it. I've had been for just over a year and it's been fantastic. It's still a great phone, regardless if it's EOL or not. I am a bit disappointed that it's not getting ICS, but, that's what's rooting is for. I don't know of any phones in the pipeline that are QWERTY sliders, it seems like phone manufacturers are moving away from sliders.

When I get to be dictator of the world, I'll pass a law that the carrier must refund a proportional amount of what you paid if they "end of life" a phone inside the 24 month contract. I will define end of life to include not updating the software to the latest release within a reasonable time (30-60 days max).

sad that a great product will be biting dust.
I changed from Evo3D to the shift and had to use an upgrade to do it.The 3d was a gimmick but the processor was great and some other features were great.
Now the downside to 3D,the signal really sucked, and the bluetooth also had issues like a bit off frequency, when paired. That was on early models.
Changed to Shift and both issues gone, and it wasn't that particular phone.I dont use the Querty keyboard, but wife does, plus we use hers as a hotspot.
I think the Shift and the Hero were are and were great phones and are workhorses.
The 4G is great if you live in area that has it,or in my case, travel to places that have it,is the cats meow.

I have to say that I have only started using smartphones very recently (about a year), the shift was my first smartphone and by far my favorit. I have tryed outhers and never was satisfied with the end result I must have a querty slider (fat, warm fingers) and the versatility I've found the shift to have is beyond comparison (if you know of better let me know). I just had insurance replace my evo and until a new querty phone king is crowned I will continue to buy the shift from wherever I can.

The HTC EVO Shift 4G is an intermediate release in the EVO series. It's a phone aimed at the entry level market and while it may not be as powerful as its predecessor, it's no less deserving of its name. The EVO Shift 4G is essentially Spri... Read More
