Camera problems evo shift 4g

Hi, i have a htc evo shift 4g, whenever i start the camera, the grey/white camera symbol pops up, but then it goes right back to the homescreen. Ive already force stopped it, and ive also tried clearing the data but it still doesnt work. Can anyone help? Itd be greatly appreciated.
