This phone is amazing. Hope you deleted all voicemails if you were a previous vm customer and swapped to this phone

I recommend rooting and flashing meanROM. This rom is awesome

Rooting the Evo V (EASY!) this is a very detailed walk thru by one of our members. also goto android forum htc evo v all things root. i hope this helps you

Is there any danger of "bricking" these if something goes wrong during the root? Killing a $300 phone scares me to death... but if the possibility is low I'm going for it!

As long as you are s on these things are pretty much unbrickable. If you go the s off route then you want to make sure to be careful what you are flashing.
