keyguard and PIN code/pattern

I believe you can disable the keyguard but the PIN/pattern code is gone too. If the PIN code stays, so does the keyguard slider. Is there a way to uncouple the two?

Took this from another thread, but that thread was old and didn't have a answer.
Im running Harmonia ROM but i doubt it matters because i had the same issue in STOCK Rom. I have the HTCKeylock.apk renamed so the ring slider is gone. However now i have a stock android slider i have to slide then i have to enter my pattern code which is too much work.
Is there anyway to make it so i can just use my pattern code by itself?
