Im happy for you guys, unfortunately for me I ordered my hero thru best buy via phone and they are telling me I'm not eligible for the $50 The guy did offer me a $25 gift card which is not bad better than nothing.
Wow, hope this works for me. Gonna buy my phone either tomorrow or Monday! Joined Reward Zone online, and just waiting to verify my email...it's taking forever though...<crosses fingers>
Thanks to all who posted. Just grabbed the coupon and took it to BB with my receipt. Five minutes later, $55.00 (I know, horrible taxes here in Illinois) in my pocket. Five more minutes at Best Buy, the $55.00 (plus another $20) was gone
Got my $54 and change a few minutes ago. At first they said I didn't buy it during the 28th - 2nd. I then pointed at thier sign and from then on it was no problem. the mng. even thanked me for reminding him of thier price match policy. I still was wanting to look at the Moment when it came out but this sealed the deal. My Hero is here to stay.
Nuff Respect to the OP !!! ... I got my $53 credited back to my bestbuy card, and they didn't even ask me for a rewards zone card ( which I didn't have!)

You think that's bad. I'm in California, and when I bought it from BB they told me that although the phone was $180 they had to charge me taxes on the regular price of the phone (which added up to nearly 40 bucks). I thought it was bull. So I will get this $50 plus a bit more on the taxes.

Took the flyer to my local Sprint Store, since I bought from Sprint directly, and asked them if they would give me a credit. The manager was working the door queuing folks up, he took the flyer, wrote down my phone number, said he'd call me when they had it done so I wouldn't have to wait. Less than an hour later I got a call from them and by the time I got home the credit was showing on my account. Couldn't be happier with Sprint right now.

Glad I joined this forum today... got my reward coupon in the email but didn't think I would be able to use it! Was actually thinking about switching to the samsung moment just for the keyboard but for $50 cash back, I'll learn to live with the virtual one.
Just got back from BB getting my refund. Their system was trying to charge me tax on the refund (how shady), but the lady over rode it. Ended up getting $57 dollars back.
[QUOTE=Shouse;78660]But you need a rewards card correct? And if you don't have one your F'ed?
What if a family member has a rewards card?[/QUOTE
They didn't even ask for my membership. They seemed like they just wanted to get it over with. Just sign up online for free b4 you go in if you want to be s

Mine didn't go quite as smoothly as the others here, the girl I got had to ask three different people how to ring it up, at no point even asked if I was a Rewards Zone member (I only signed up that morning specifically for this), and gave me cash back on what had originally been a credit card transaction (having worked retail before, I know that's a big no-no). To top it off, she ended up subtracting the tax instead from my refund rather than add it, so I only got $48 back. I just decided $5 wasn't worth waiting for her to try and find someone in the store who actually knew how to do a refund, so I left.

I think that I should try this, I called Sprint and they said that I would have to return the phone and then go buy it from BB. I thought that was the stupidest thing. Owell.
Hrm, that's odd. I went to the store and got about $48 back instead of $53. The guy said this may happen if the original price went up or something like that. The receipt shows a refund of $50 and tax of $2.xx. Wtf?

I got the same thing happened to me. Oh well, not worth the hassle . $48 is better than $0

The original price has not changed. Your salesperson rung it up wrong. You're supposed to get refunded the tax, not charged for it.
I bought two Heros from a Sprint store this weekend, before seeing this deal at Best Buy. Sprint Customer Service (aka *2) was polite but didn't see the deal listed in their database, so they couldn't apply the price match. They suggested I go into a corporate store, saying that they usually price match. Went to the store, but they were less than helpful and couldn't be bothered. Didn't understand why I wanted to use a Best Buy coupon there and said of course they wouldn't honor it.
I guess I'll try calling retentions, or I can return the two phones to Sprint and re-buy them at Best Buy in order to make $30 ($50 off x 2 minus $35 return fee x 2). Or I can let them win.
Called the retention department (888-211-4727, although I don't know if this is any different than calling *2), and was told (again very politely) that there was no way that Sprint Corporate can price match a third party retailer. She said the only way around it would be to return the phones to the Sprint store, eat the return fee, and re-buy from Best Buy. She agreed that this was silly, but there was nothing else they could do about it. So I don't know how people are getting this credit if they bought directly from Sprint, unless some stores are acting independently against corporate policy.
I will say the phone reps are much more knowledgeable and helpful than the store reps, even if they couldn't help me specifically.
My Sprint store has done great things for me. I had a rebate denied way back on my Mogul because something on the form was wrong. By the time they denied it it was too late to re-file. I mentioned it in passing when I was getting my wife her phone and the manager overheard and told the salesperson to credit the account for the rebate. Someone hacked into my account somehow, over the phone, and activated a new phone on the account thereby deactivating my phone while I was in rural NJ, they worked with me over the phone to get it corrected, helped me re-provision my phone remotely, and credited my account for a full month of service. When I went in for this the manager (don't talk to the reps) took my number and said he'd take care of it and call me so I didn't have to wait in line. He did everything he said and even found the rep I go to at that store whenever I can and had them call me to let me know it was done.
Find a corporate store that cares about their customers and ask the manager. Just tell him you will cancel and go to Best Buy since you are within your 30 days and they should credit your account. Just be nice about it. That is all I did.
Thanks for sharing your story. Sounds like you have a good local store there. I guess like anything it depends on the manager running the place. I was certainly polite and reasonable, but the manager at my store had no interest in helping me. I could cancel, return the phones and go to BB, but since that promotion ends tonight I'd have to run all over the place after work, all just to save the $30. I'd like to do it just on principle, but its probably not worth it. Disappointing, nonetheless.
Heading to my local Best Buy right after I get out of work today at 6:00 pm. I've signed up for the BB Reward Zone online for free, have my coupon printed out and my Reward Zone card printed out too. Hopefully my local BB has the Hero in stock. 6 hours to go!
Went to my local best buy today to see if they would credit me and they gave me such a hard time then said that it was only for new lines not upgrades and if I wanted the 50 bucks they would have to refund my account then give me a new phone with a new line and a number I told the manager that the time it would take to do that would cost you more in payroll than the coupon is worth she didnt wanna hear it. They wouldent read the rest of the fine print on there own flyer where it says upgrades also included on the bottom. They just didnt care. I went to the best buy a lil furter down the road and they did it for me right away credited my card 53 bucks. I got all the managers names and stuff at the first store I will be calling and doing a compliant later and will be telling them how great the second store treated me. I'm happy now
Glad I did my upgrade at Best Buy. Got my $53ish back last Thursday. The CSR did seem to have problems getting it done right but a manager helped out. I was worried about even getting the phone at Best Buy since I'm on the Everything Plus Referral plan (formerly SERO). So far so good.
I got my $50 today however, experience of getting $50 was not pleasant. I went into bestbuy today to get the $50. I presented the coupon to csr and she didn't know much about it so we walked over to cellphone sales rep.the sales rep told csr that the coupon is valid only if the hero was purchased between Oct.28 to Nov. 2. I told her that I purchased hero on Oct.11 and it is still within return period. The sale rep rolled her eyes and told csr to go ahead and honor the coupon. As I turn around to walk back to csr desk, sales rep start to talk shit. When I got back to csr desk, I asked what the problem was and csr said its because I wasn't reward zone member at the time when I purchased hero! During this whole time, they have not asked for my reward zone info or the card. At the end I got the money but I will never go back to that bestbuy again.
Thanks so much OP!!! This saved me $53! I thought I would have to go through some hassle with the CSR, but I just handed them the receipt, coupon and my rewards number and got the money credited back to my debit card! So glad I checked out the forum today!
I bought my two Heros from BestBuy specifically because of the mail-in-rebate becoming an instant rebate. I printed out the coupon at 7:30 tonight. By 7:50, I was $106 dollars richer. They gave me no hassle what so ever. I showed them the coupon, my receipt and said I qualify based on everything listed in the fine print on the coupon. The help desk person checked with somebody in the mobile department for a couple minutes then came back. They didn't even ask for my Best Buy Reward Zone card. I signed up right before I left just in case they needed it. It was easiest $100 I ever made.
Thank you HTC for having a DST bug in your Calendar otherwise I never would've found the coupon.
Worked for me. Only had a slight issue...since I work there...Lol. But after a sec it worked out, they just made me wait till all the real customers were gone. lol
Some how I only got 48.25, but who cares its more than went in there with. I was going to but a silicone case while I was there, but they were 20 bucks. I know I saw them online for like 6.
Went today after work.. Printed out RZ cad, but left the link/pdf on phone.
Went to Mobile and the guy named Andrew looks at the coupon and says "I cant make any promises but if you go to customer service they might be able to do it..." then with a vague point points to the corner of the store and goes "over there"... Turns out that CS was in the middle of the store..
Anyway get over to CS and they look at the flyer and go "well you need to talk with mobile because of a contract..."
So back to mobile and he tells me to back to CS because hes swamped and they are not dealing with a contract and they are just taking money off the sale price. He actually said he was "swamped".. He was trying to program a (insert foul word here) iPhone 3gs... figures..
So back to CS again.. I tell her what he said and the rep says "Figures" then proceeds to mutter something under her breath then sighs....
So after 30 minutes of waiting in line, walking back and forth twice, and having to wait for a manager to "Approve" a price match.. I walked out of there with 54.25 extra in my pocket... And with out having to show RZ card..
I hate BB. I should have gone to the one I used to work at, at least they wouldn't have hassled me.
I didn't have my receipt with me, I paid cash for the phone, and I have no Rewards Zone membership. I was prepared for the worst.
In a very short amount of time I was walking out of the store with $54.28 cash in hand. It took longer to wait in line than to get the price adjustment done... and the kid had to get a manager because he didn't know how to do something.
I told my wife, "We should come to Best Buy and get 50$ cash more often."
