Default What's the newest version of android I can still tether for free with on my Hero?

Just wondering what's the newest version of android I can still tether for free with on my Hero? Currently running 2.1 just to keep the free tethering...

I run 2.3 and have free tethering. It's called wireless tether. If wireless is not your thing, there is also easy tether, but you have to pay once for easy tether.
