I just picked up the Hero about a week ago and am having issues with Google Maps and the touchscreen. If I open Maps and leave the phone sit for a second to where the lock screen comes on, the touchscreen stops working. I am able to close the app using the buttons and trackball, but have to restart the phone to get touchscreen functionality...

Has anyone else had this problem?

Not supposes to do that. Try a hard reset and see if it cures it. If it doesn't, return it to Sprint for a new phone.

It has happened to mine before. I had to reset, but I don't remember the circumstances whether I was on maps or not.. Hasn't happened lately, probably a software glitch.

I have tried hard resetting it. I will check to see if it has the latest version of Maps on it, and if not I'll update that and try again. I haven't messed with enough apps to notice if it is just that one or others as well. If all else fails, Sprint is welcome to fix it for me.
