Possible to logout of Gmail on Android?

Is it possible to log out of gmail so that the app requires you to log in?

I have the HTC Hero, there must be a way to log out of gmail right?

I don't think so ... If you want to see a login screen, I think your options are to use the pattern lock, or the factory reset.

That Sucks because if your phone gets nicked your whole life is on display , I must just factory reset my Desire then cause I dont want the whole world to see what is in my mail .... BAD! Seriously BAD

How about switching your phone's emai account to one you don't use for emails? (Admitedly not an option if you've already started buying apps).

That way you could use your primary email account through a 3rd party app that allowed you to sign out.

Or just password protecting the phone?

Hi all, not to start off on the wrong footing, but thats a lame response :-)

I think it does suck that Google have not thought of this and the main reason why i am not a fan of downloading email etc onto any device.
