Default Hero with Cupcake AND Apps2sd?

I never thought about rooting my brand new Hero till a silly message appeared in my notifications.
It told me that I was running out of memory because of too many applications installed (gee, it's been 2 weeks since I had my hands on this jewel)
Anyway, I read a lot of threads, here and everywhere, but I still can't get one damn simple point of the whole thing.

"Can I use Cupcake+Sense (rooted with instantroot.apk) AND have apps2sd working WITHOUT flashing fancy ROMs like Cyanogen"?

I know it sounds like a dumb question, but everywhere I can see the root process always goes with flashing an exotic ROM.
That's not my cup of tea, I already have my cup of...cake.

Obviusly I'm going to partition my SD -as explained in many posts- for apps2sd.
(sorry for my poor english BTW)

Thanks in advance

I expect so, but I suspect it might involve a lot more work than installing an alternate ROM. From what I remember reading a while back by itself AppsToSD doesn't work on the Hero, which means that Cyanogen (and Paul O'Brien a.k.a. MoDaCo) must have done other things under the hood to get it working.

The best suggestion I've got is asking about it in one of the more development-oriented forums.

Huh??? Your English is a lot better than some native speakers I know, and infinitely better than my non-existent Italian!

Then I have to find those special carburettors and shiny exhaust pipes to unleash its potential.
Will do some more research and I'll let you know if I can find a workaround, that's the point of being a forum user in the end.
Maybe a further look into Android 2.0 features.. Don't think so anyway.
