Just thought I'd show what my current setup is. Haven't done much as of right now, just have the stuff I need on my screens. Still in the process of downloading apps and widgets since flashing a new ROM. Enjoy! If you have any questions just let me know.

I finally got the balls to attempt to root with that hack kit that was posted over in the XDA forums. I'm not a noob per say, but the only thing I rooted was my Captivate and that was pretty easy with the Super One Click program. This was a little more difficult and had a lot more steps you had to take, but it was worth it. After I rooted I downloded an app called ShootMe. It's pretty cool. You start the app (which can run in the background as well I believe) and give the phone a good shake and it snaps a screenshot.
I posted all the info you need to root in the All About Root subforum but it hasn't been approved by the mod
As an FYI to anyone that reads this, any current ROM you flash to the Inspire will have less than stellar sound. It's kind of a sacrifice you have to take until there's a fix for it. Right now, whether on a call or playing a YouTube video, there will always be a bit of static. Everything is ok when headsets are plugged in tho. I know some people would hate to lose sound quality so I thought I'd point that out.
Apparently they're supposed to make an easier way of rooting too, so hope that comes out soon cos this took a while.

Is this one of the things you got when you rooted, or does this come with the program...I'm referring to the bills due thing I see...I'm still trying to decide if I want to get an Inspire...and if that comes with the phone, without rooting...I'm definitely in...

Actually, that's anMoney which is available in the market without root. It's a little pricey at $9.99 but in my opinion is THE BEST money management app in the market. I don't purchase too many apps, mostly just download free ones but this was a must have for me.

That is pricey...but it's worth it I think...so when you purchase the app you don't have to open it up every time you wanna use it like the iPhone? You can set it up on the screen kinda like a widget?

That exactly right. The upcoming bills will show what's due (I haven't input any info yet) but this will show you what the widgets look like with actually info in them. The widgets to the left are really cool as well. Those are the quick transaction widgets, so all you do is hit the plus sign, and a there will be a pop up that asks for info on a specific transaction you made. So say you were at Target or something, you click the plus sign and put the merchant name, dollar amt, date, etc. Really convenient and although it is pricey, I highly recommend it.
awesome...so i'm guessing it gives you options to select a certain bank? Or does this not even deal with a bank account? Does it remind you of payments and such?

No it doesn't sync with your bank, which I personally prefer cos every app I've tried that does sync with your bank is horrible. I've tried Mint before and it would take 2-3 days for a payment/transaction to reflect on your app. This one is done 100% manually, you input everything. I guess it can be a hassle to some, but I'm putting all the info in so I feel like I can trust it more lol. And yes it syncs with your google calendar (which every Android phone has) so it can remind you of payments
And I'm sure you'll know the answer to this, I sure don't because I haven't gotten the Inspire yet...but I don't have a gmail account...I currently use yahoo and my colleges school email...will I still be able to use my yahoo account or will I have to switch to gmail?

you can use it but you will need a gmail account to activate and sync any android phone
so basically...just go ahead and get a gmail account, then. Lol...I'll just have to go in and switch everything, I was expecting to anyway...I was just wanting a confirmation...thanks again!

Haha I was the same way as well. Couldn't wait for this phone to be released. I'm sure you'll love it! And yeah, like Andrea said, you will need a gmail account to do a lot with Android, but I'm sure you'll love gmail as well! Enjoy your Inspire!
Thanks! I actually just spent the last hour setting up a gmail account and switching all my account info. Lol
Yeah, it's really worth it to input your contacts too, so just in case you have a bad phone, or maybe wanna get another one later on you can always just sync your phone to google and all your numbers will be there. Super easy and quick.
Nice! I'm still trying to figure out how to take advantage of all 7 screens lol. I'm currently using only 3 but there's so much more room I feel like I gotta take advantage of it! Haha.
I updated my phone today. It's now rooted and whatnot. But I grabbed all new screenshots of my layout... if you're into that kind of thing. Click picture to view in full size.

awww... just downloaded ShootMe, and tried running it. no root access....
Let me just say, I was WAY hesitant in rooting my Inspire cos of the process and how difficult it seemed to be compared to the Captivate (my prev phone). But I finally took the plunge and I'm so glad I did.
Like I said, it is sort of a complicated process, but there's tools and videos out there to help you if you're considering it. And remember you can always go back to stock rom. I'm personally using the stock/rooted rom and haven't had any problems whatsoever. The only thing I don't have is the free hotspot capability, which other roms provide. I don't mind it tho cos I usually don't use it anyway. It's still hotspot capable, but I would have to get the added plan.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions and I'll try to answer them to the best of my knowledge. Also, this forum provides all the info you need to root and flash roms and has a pretty knowledgeable and noob-friendly community as well

I'll take a pic of mine tonight and send it to you. They pretty much look exactly like that one.
I wish, that's just a wallpaper I found on zedge. When I was in the ARMY, I was the unit armor so I had a chance to play with all those toys. My favorite weapon of choice was the MK19 belt-fed grenade launcher. Night firing on the range was just a joy.

what about the sound quality issues with the Inspire as reported here:
Have you noticed this? Is there an ETA for this fix? It's really the only thing holding me back!
Well, the sound issue is only relevant to DesireHD roms, not stock/rooted ATT roms (which I'm using). The poster above linked the audio fix. I've only tried one audio fix and used it on the Android Revolution HD rom. It fixed quality A LOT, but it's still not 100% in my opinion. Search the Inspire Development forums over at XDA. They do wonders!
Nice! How's CM7 treating you? I'm dying for some Gingerbread, but since this is my first Sense phone, I kinda wanna give Sense a little more love. I tried out Android Revolution and noticed less lag on that than stock, so I won't be keeping stock forever. Let me know your opinions on CM!

It is running great. I was running it on my Nexus One before I bought my Inspire. It is the true vanilla android experience.
This is totally my style. How did you get multiple icons on your bar at the bottom? I seem locked into 3. What is that weather/time widget? and what is the calendar widget? Thanks thanks!! :-)

The HTC Inspire 4G was released as the first phone to run on AT&T's 4G HSPA+ network. The device features a large, 4.3-inch display, 8MP camera capable of 720p HD video capture, and a 1GHz Snapdragon processor. The name of the game here is ... Read More
