This thread today over at xda has an ATT guy saying it is being pushed out 10,000 phones at a time, not been cancelled, but pulled from the htc site for some reason no one knows.

Isn't it interesting that different answers come from different reps, all from the same company. Today when I talked to the 4 reps, they all had the same info regarding GB being pulled, but they each had different answers regarding pushing me the side loading update.... one said it's not possible, only HTC support can do that, the other said only "data management" can do that, the other said "i haven't a clue what your talking about..." and the last one finally said "I know exactly what your asking for and I can take care of that for you!" and sure enough, 2 mins later I had the update on my phone. Sheesh.

John, I notice that all those posts are dated from yesterday, I wonder if it was pulled later in the day... after those posts were made. When I talked to ATT it was bright and early this morning, PST. Ah who knows, we shall never know... lol

The posts actually are from today, if you're not logged in on that site it defaults to using like a Belgian time zone where its already Saturday.

haha no clue here, nothing to do at work today and kids are away at grandma's I've had the screen on like all day screwing around trying to get launcher pro working like it used to, constantly checking here and xda to see if I have the real prod release or if it really was cancelled and watching some bluths and some bundys on netflix.

My inspire's sweet little hole has been penetrated by a charger no less than 3 times today and battery monitor widget (whose stats I reset today) says my 100%->0% discharge time is estimated at 7 hours based on my past (today's) usage. (estimate used to be 22 hours normally)

I am noticing a couple buggy things. I really wonder if it did get cancelled. Among a bunch of forums I only see one report (on htc support forums, unanswered section) of someone getting this OTA and it's still not showing as a download on htc site. Apparently it only did for less than an hour.

one prob is launcher pro which used to work fine on froyo so I don't know if launcher pro guy did something in the past incompatible with something htc did recently with this rom or if htc did something recently incompatible with launcher pro.

3d app drawer is very laggy. I've turned off 3d, 2d moves fine unless you turn the phone and switch between landscape/portrait while in the app drawer, there's lots of artifacting, icons stacked on top of each other in one spot in the corner and about a 5 second delay before that corrects itself.

Other thing is in the dialer, when you open it up it normally shows you 3 or 4 recent calls above the dialpad, now it's just blank white and the "tap to see smart tips" above dialpad is missing too. If I dial one digit and then press the backspace to erase it, the recent calls show and "..smart tips" does too.

Edit: dialer problem seems to only happen from launcher pro, if I start dialer from sense launcher all is good.

Edit once more: think I fixed the dialer prob by just recreating the LP dock shortcut to it.

That's quite a number of bugs for an apparent final build. I'm just gonna wait for OTA and hope that they fixed the bugs. Even if it is mostly launcher pro.

i updated through GB last night manually. so i had the entire day at work to test my battery. in about 8 hours i got 1 phone call, maybe 45 texts, and i browsed the internet/twitter/pulse maybe about a good hour during lunch. and i left work with about 67% battery remaining. this is actually pretty typical for my phone i'm usually at 50% at the end of the work day. and i run my phone until it gets to power saver mode at 15% which easily lasts me until 8pm. granted i am not a power user.

so i would say it slightly makes battery efficiency better..

You'd think they would have noticed those bugs before releasing it. Hopefully it's why they pulled it, so we will get a less buggy update hopefully. Fingers crossed.

and now I'm seeing some problems in the text messaging app. When typing in landscape and I hit the "done" button it sometimes isnt doing anything until after I hit the back button to get rid of the keyboard.

also sometimes when I send a message it's taking the last word of it and putting it as the first word of a new, not yet sent outgoing message.

My police scanner app wont connect like it used to, had to change some settings to not use android audio. There's chases and drive-bys going on, my city's going to shit with this failure-rewarding free money system and I need to hear, come on!

Once saw some font artifacting when typing in the address/search bar of doplhin.

I guess I'm getting ready to finally root and flash some roms if another wipe wont fix. I'm geeky enough with linux machines and linux virtual machines all over that you'd think I'd have done it long ago but there's only been a few root things I've wanted like mounting smbfs to filesytem, deleteting blockbuster, att nav et. al., running droidwall, configuring with autostarts but all together they didn't seem worth the trouble. I guess if I'm getting bugs even using it as normal; I turn to the community roms to fix like so many users of other phones have to.* Love CM7 on the nook color, maybe it's time. Gingerbeast looks nice too. I only like sense for the clock app really (the app, not the giant widget) and I'm sure I can find something to replace that.

* edit: ok that part sounded martyrish/self pityish or something. I admit, I did, knowing the risks, install a rom that was at the time (fri morning) not known to be for sure as final/production. (although it was a manufacturer one I downloaded from their server, just from a less-than-public link.)

Confused

Followed toby's link and got the file and just installed it a little while ago. Seems ok so far. Wiped out all my apps and stuff but I expected that, no biggy. I moved a bunch of apps to the sd card and it does not see them, can I restore them or just have to do it over again?

Should I install the file? Or should I wait and see when the update will officially roll out again? Any issues seen that would make you advise me to wait? I'm really anxious for my gingerbread and am torn between manually updating and waiting. Thanks in advance for any replies.

Default Did the manual update...a few issues (probably my own ignorance)

I'm super new to this, so please don't chastise me for being ignorant of all the tech talk. Ok...so I went ahead with the manual update, So far, Ive had a few issues. Same thing another user mentioned about messages coming in with a 1 in front of the number and not matching my contacts. I did not have this issue before. Does Juice Defender really work? I had it as an app with Froyo and my battery was not great, but not horrible either. Once I installed gingerbread, Juice Defender no longer works for some reason and it seems as if my battery life has diminished slightly. I'm hoping this improves after a few charge cycles. Lastly, if the notification bar and the app scrolling are the only changes that I am noticing, I am a little disappointed with GB. Is it possible to get the official update when it comes out (and is hopefully bug free) and install that version overtop, or am I stuck with this version on my phone?

When I checked for update yesterday, it said it was up to date. I just checked this morning and it says "install interrupted - current software is up to date, you may check back in 7 hrs 30 mins"

I am thinking some update got interrupted. Not sure if it's the GB update though.

Wow. I just checked and it also said install interrupted and check back in (time remaining from 24 hours from last check). Hmmm.

As of April 30, 2011 AT&T has issued an update to the HTC Inspire 4G and the Motorola Atrix 4G enabling HSUPA. As of May 2011, AT&T issued an over the air update to the Inspire 4G allowing unknown sources to be installed, which removes the need to sideload applications (some users may need to call tech support to get this update). On July 25, 2011 AT&T announced it would issue Gingerbread 2.3.3 and Sense 2.1 to the phone. [9] The update should be released by August 12, 2011.

Where is this info coming from? Also, 2.1 isn't being released with gingerbread, it already shipped stock with the phone.

The gingerbread update is supposed to take that wifi option out so you only are supposed to have the att default update checker. Although I don't understand why they took it off.

I went ahead and used the leaked update and have had no problems that I've read everyone else having. My how works perfectly and I havnt had anything bug up for me. If anything the phone is A LOT smoother now. And the battery life I havnt been able to test yet but I've noticed a little more time before it dies. It came with the unknown sources option though which is a first for me (I had to root because my push update never showed up).

I'm going to wait for the word on the OTA and if theirs anything fixed then i guess ill go with the OTA

Default sigh...

everything works for me except for one thing.
My messages don't register who is in my contacts. It just shows the phone #. Never did this before. I talked to at&T and they just sound ******ed. Telling me that I have to go thru HTC? wtf....

Any thoughts? My inspire was fine before this update...

hmmm... isn't it always something with AT&T.... man... i'm irritated....

I am liking that there's an option to NOT show texts on the lockscreen.

Recap: only real problem I'm having is launcher pro app drawer acting weird.

My dialer prob was LP dock shortcut related, I recreated shortcut and its fine now.

Text messaging prob I had, (last word of text is copied to 1st word of another new unsent one) hasnt showed up again. I am using gingerbread keyboard from the market and not the HTC keyboard so maybe that had something to do with it.

Gps is better than ever for me. It is locking inside my house and I can get a 6 foot accuracy lock outside. (this is with an otterbox on)

and the thing about showing #s instead of names in sms app, I used to have that happen for 5 or 10 seconds sometimes back on froyo until the names populated but I haven't seen it after this update.

I heard the option for "fast boot" has moved, I can't find it, anyone know? I don't like that. Edit: found it it's in power settings now.

What do you have that you want to keep? pictures are on sd and wont be touched, if you're signed in with a google account on your phone it should have your contacts synced to gmail.

Most of your market apps will come back (I was missing 3 or 4 and had to search them out in the market again)

you'll probably lose progress/scores in most games

you'll lose your sms messages (some people like to save these, I dont)

Main time consuming thing you lose is just how you've setup your homescreens and internal settings for some apps.

If you have some bad apps causing the force close problems though, those will come right back after the update likely when those apps get reinstalled.

Maybe uninstall a lot of stuff beforehand that you dont use or is known to have problems. Make sure you have a network connection when doing that so the market knows you've uninstalled.

Thanks... I was able to transfer my photos and video to my pc. Apps did come back, some didn't. I had to do a battery pull... It works so much better now. Thanks!

Can I install the manual update from my phone? I've tried it from my pc with HTC sync several times and it keeps getting stuck on "Sending." Any help would be amazing.

Find the Toby link in this thread and use that thru your pc. It works. Everything seems to be working for me.

There's a link here for download, you can do the update from your pc yourself. Very easy, takes less than 10mins.

Also fair warning to anyone that doesn't know or hasn't bothered to read the previous posts, that if you do the manual update through your computer, your phone WILL be wiped of all data.

Any thoughts? My inspire was fine before this update...

hmmm... isn't it always something with AT&T.... man... i'm irritated....
i've had this same problem.
there is a simple but quite annoying way to fix this. just go to that message and press the number and a menu should pop up that says "Verify the phone number"
and the following options should come up
-Call
-send message
-open contact

select open contact and then head back into the message, that contact should appear in place of the number.

Anyone know how to get free wifi after updating. Using that "add APN" function was my main source for internet and now that I've updated to gingerbread it no longer works.

Any ideas??????

I did the upgrade from the download link in this thread last night, and near as I can tell everything is working correctly.

However, I periodically get a popup that says: "The application Google Services Framework (process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly, please try again.", with a "Force Close" button. I hit the "Force Close" and it goes away, but the whole thing reappears several times an hour.

Guess I need to research this.

Try clearing and redownloading agps data using an app like gpstest or gps status if you haven't already.

I got something kinda cool to report on battery life. Looks like idle use is WAY down from what I see.

I use a thing called battery monitor widget. It's constantly looking/logging battery voltage and milliamp draw, it can compare this to past logs and give you time to empty estimates either based on your usage since you installed battery monitor, your usage since unplugged or your instant realtime usage.

Now before the update there are times I'd go to work, phone fully charged up and be I'd be busy and not have a chance to play on the phone until luch or something. I'd look at battery monitor, it would say based on my non-usage, just idling for hours since unplug, the battery would last 2 days and several hours. this would be with wifi on, sync on gps on.

I went to bed last night without putting it on the charger it was around 90%, I had charged it a few hours earlier, I wanted to give battery monitor some stats to work with that's why i didn't plug in. I had wifi, sync, gps on. I woke up this morning and it was 85% and battery monitor said based on my usage since unplug (10 hrs ago) the battery would go another 4 days 5 hours!

Now that is improvement. I can't wait for GB now (waiting for OTA).

As above, my battery life has increased significantly. Went to bed with it at 43% , woke up and it was at %40. Before the update it would have been close to %0 or dead.

Really can't wait for GB now. I really need a boost in battery life. I'm so tempted to get it I might just go ahead and do the manual update instead of waiting for OTA and hoping the bugs would be fixed in the OTA update. Also, has anyone noticed a speed increase (such as scrolling, switching between screens)?
