They are the update files, like what you'd get OTA.

We're still waiting for the full RUU/ROMs.

Well that's kinda odd for the UK anyway considering Vodafone has exclusivity on the legend anyway

Hey Vodafone - instead of buying first rights to upgrades to mobile phones - how about paying the 6 billion in taxes you owe first.

For those of you that have update to 2.2, Are you able to view flash on websites, such as bbc?
I still get the warning triangle. I read on the netw that nexus one and desires users may have to download it from the market place, but I cannot find flash player in the market.
A Bit of an anitclimax tbh! Anyone got any ideas?

I am rooted & downloaded the official voda based ROM. I personally don't see what the fuss is about. Froyo.....? pfftt I have reverted back to a 2.1 custom ROM which is better. I wanted apps to SD card & all I got were 2 that would move to card. Don't get over excited by froyo, it's not worth the wait. Disappointed!

Well that's because app2sd depends on the developers of the apps to implement it when they design the app. If you are rooted on 2.2 you should be able to force any app to install on the sd card regardless of whether the app supports it or not.

Seriously annoyed by this (also have an unbranded legend), sent a complaint yesterday and not had a reply.

I was eyeing up the Desire HD but starting to wonder if I want another HTC phone....

I was annoyed about it to start with. But in all honesty, Vodafone users are once again being guinea pigs for the rest of us. After all, haven't they had the dodgy SMS sorting issue for some time, that was seemingly pulled for the rest of us?

As long as it happens soon, I'll be pleased. And it's given a new excitement to checking for updates every three minutes.

Yes, I know but some don't work properly! I've gone back to a custom 2.1 ROM

Would this work on a HTC Legend bought in a Virgin Mobile store?

P.S. Why can't you just type the address?

So did I, the process resulted in a 'Status 7' Error. I am on Vodafone (Hungary), but the Legend is unbranded. The software version of my phone is not on the right list just now...

This the response I got today, after complaining about not being able to get FroYo on my unbranded Legend -

Quote:
The Froyo software has only just been announced by HTC so no carriers have got the software as of yet. It does depend on how fast the carriers update the software to what they want in order for them to release this. However they are unable to do anything until we release the software to them. The unbranded devices tend to get the updates before the carrier devices as we have by that time already updated it to our needs.
I'm confused......

How long as Froyo been available on the HTC Desire?

No Carriers have got the software update yet?

Unbranded devices tend to get the updates before the carrier devices?

If you're rooted, you can apply this ROM:

[ROM]FroYo - Android 2.2 -Kernel 2.6.32.17 - Build on Vodafone release - ROOTED!

Alternatively you have the MoDaCo ROM option:

[ROM] 16/Nov r4 - MoDaCo Custom Froyo ROM for the HTC Legend with Online Kitchen

Got the official 2.2 update yesterday from Vodafone. I must say, I'm jealous of the screen animations now compared to my Desire on 2.2! very slick. Here's hoping I get another update for my Desire soon to bring it up to par with the legend.

Well it seems like you're not the first person to have had issues with the Vodafone 2.2 upgrade. Maybe try a hard reset on the phone and re-install your apps, get an app brain account it makes life easier. Or if you are confident enough have a go at de-branding the phone and getting rid of any vodafone shite.

I use the MoDaCo Custom ROM for HTC Legend R4, it's like the Voda 2.2 one only it cuts out the shiz you don't need

I recieved an update for my unbranded HTC Legend today, but sadly it was not for Android 2.2. I now have Firmware version 2.1-update1, and Software version 2.05.405.2.

Anyone else had this?

I also received an email from HTC support (regarding an issue with MMS messages) saying:
"We would like to inform you that there will be an upgrade to your phone that will be released as FOTA from end of November.
We have continually been issuing updates through our website, so if you have missed any of those, this upgrade will contain the ones listed on our site. Beyond that, we’ve included an update to enhance the performance for touch screen sensitivity, further increasing the responsiveness of our phones."

Still nothing from Orange. In saying that, looking at the problems others are experiencing, I might give the whole thing a swerve anyway.

I had the problems for a bit, they're gone now. mind you, my ROM isn't official, but my friend, who has the official one, confirms this because I told him to take his SIM card out, boot it up, turn it off, put the SIM card back in and it works

I had that ages ago... first time I've seen a carrier put it out before the unbranded folks get it!
Maybe you'll get a more flawless update than us Voda's

I also just got this for my de-branded Legend. Maybe it's a precursor to the 2.2 update. *fingers crossed*

@jonathan.holvey and @Androidin' - Today my unbranded HTC Legend also notified me that 2.05.405.2 was available for update. I have heard about numerous problems with this update though, primarily lost of Wifi (and MAC address!) - see New update 2.05.405.2 available ota . Have you folks updated and all worked properly? Does your Wifi work afterwards? I'm in UK, you?

@Androidin' - did you find out if 2.05.405.2 is indeed a precursor to froyo?

@Everyone! - Anyone else who has froyo had to (or happened to) install 2.05.405.2 first?

@c_man - Is the link you posted (*** FOUND NEW VERSION 3.14.161.1 *** h**p://fotadl.htc.com/OTA_Legend_Froyo_S_Vodafone_UK_3.14.161.1-2.05.161.1_R_release_135177_156984u2k321537x1cpy3d .zip) the official update versions? I have an unbranded Legend.. all I have to do is just download and install this?

EDIT: Seems 2.05.405.2 might indeed be a precursor. http://androidandme.com/2010/12/phones/htc-manufacturers-news/android-2-2-ota-update-for-htc-legend-to-begin-tomorrow/

I had installation issues with 2.05.405.2, managed to sort it out and have been running that for a while now.
My phone has informed me that froyo 2.2 is available to install so I'm assuming you'll need to install 2.05.405.2 first.
If you do get the wifi issue, you should just be able to download froyo over your network rather then wifi and that would hopefully resolve the 2.05.405.2 wifi issue is you do come accross it.
Will install froyo tonight, been waiting long enough another 6 hours isn't going to kill me

Hey Martin.. thanks for the reply! Not sure what you mean by downloading froyo over my network.. expand? Is there a website online where I can download the official froyo to my pc then copy it to my phone or something?

Oh, one other question people.. For both 2.05.405.2 and Froyo, should I be ensuring that my phone has enough Internal phone storage?? Currently I only have 29.10 MB!!!!

When the updates get downloaded, do they download to SD card??

What he means is if wifi is not working, use your carrier's data services to download the update. Mind you though that the update is about 85MB, so its pretty big, just make sure that you don't end up with a huge bill at the end of the month! If you've got an unlimited data plan, then no need to worry.

As far as I know, there isnt a website where you can download it, but I havent checked to be honest. There may be a way of downloading the update and then using HTC Sync to update. You might want to check that out.

Hope you get to update soon......I'm loving the 2.2!!

I updated to 2.2 today on my Legend.

Just one problem: the Calendar app, in week view, does NOT show any text on the events anymore. Anyone else seen this?
