It seems pretty obvious to me that the Legend is the successor to the hero. It's basically the same phone but with a few (actually pretty minor) improvements. So, we get: faster CPU (about the same MHz, but better architecture), better camera+flash, AMOLED screen (but same resolution).
The legend isnt the top end new HTC phone, that would be the Desire/Bravo.

I'm tryna toss up between this and the desire... or keeping my hero and running 2.1. Intial reports suggest there will only be £50 between the two off contract in the UK, the desire is more powerful but the legend is very sexy...
I personally consider Legend's body design much nicer than Desire's (in the same fashion as I think HTC Hero's design is better than Nexus One).
I just wish the Legend had the processing power the Desire will have, but as they stand right now, I think I'd choose the Legend because of its aluminum body and the chin trademark (more subtle this time) over the Desire whose design is a bit blah for me, despite being more powerful.
I'm not up on all the specs, I'll have a good look later, but isn't the Legend pretty much a Hero with a different skin? A skin you'll probably cover with a case anyway. I hardly use the camera so a flash is pointless, for me anyway.
I've been lucky and had a wee play with a Nexus and yes it's nice and everything but well meeh
I like the look of the Desire, but I'm still willing to hold on to my Hero for a while yet, in fact I'm not sure what it'll take for me to change phones.
Maybe a £56m lottery win and I'll get a solid gold Hero with diamond buttons!
Legend with Android 2.1 not to support flash as Hero does with Android 1.6? That doesn't make much 'Sense' (sorry, couldn' help it, but yeah, it doesn't make sense)
Is it that hard to make a phone powerful and sexy?
I believe that it breaks some fundamental law of nature. It ends up collapsing in on itself, forming a mini black hole.
I must be the only one who doesn't like the look of the Legend. The HUGE dead gap between the bottom of the screen and the buttons really puts me off. A larger screen would have been perfect.
Man, both the Legend and Desire? You guys over across the Pond are sure getting a whole lotta love (see what I did there? lol). Enjoy them, and let us know what you'se think when ya get em.

I totally agree, if this had a 3.5" screen, I wouldn't hesitate at getting this over the Desire.
hmmm...so if it's the successor to the hero...i can basically say it's the successor to the eris?
Sounds fair. Read on Phandroid that it is coming to the States on Sprint to be the Hero 2. Desire is supposedly slated for AT&T. They stress, however, that these are just rumors. Verizon is supposed to get the Incredible, but who knows how long that'll be.

The HTC Hero packed a powerful punch itself, but now the manufacturer has upped the ante in specs, design and model name with that device's successor - the HTC Legend.
The Legend takes design queues from the HTC Hero with its curved chin, but... Read More
