Default Messed up days & time

Hi,

I obtained my HTC Legend a few days ago and it seems to have some messed up dates/times.. I was wondering where this problem is being caused.

My situation:

Settings -> Date & Time
This is where I first noticed something odd. It appears to be using the wrong GMT for a certain location. Best example I can give u is: Greenwich Mean Time (London) GMT+1:00. As far as I know London has GMT 0 ? this keeps adding up wich puts my timezone (GMT+1:00 Brussels) to GMT+2:00.
-But- the time/date/day on my phone in general shows correct (Clock and such).

Contact list -> Birthdate
Here I noticed the next odd thing. It shows the correct date (for ex: 9th May 2010) but it will show the wrong day (in this case it shows saturday, instead of sunday). This is only in my contact list. When I check the Calendar application it shows the correct day for that date.

Fring
Has nothing to do probably with this forum but I thought it was worth mentioning since it is kind of related to the problems I've had. The date/timestamps it shows are completely wrong.

I've been trying to find information related to this but google hasn't been very helpfull, neither was RTFM.

Thanks in advance.

Edit:
- It appears to be a general thing with the GMT timezones
- Birthdate is being translated wrong to Dutch, it referred to the actual day of being born
- Haven't figured out the fring thing yet

Actually thats correct! Currently our time is GMT+1, otherwise known as BST or british summer time

If you are in the UK, summer is gmt +1! When the clocks go back for winter, that's when we are running on gmt.

Timezones vs universal clock, which your device most likely uses via ntp ultimately, probably account for a lot of the weirdness you seem to be seeing and are far too long winded and complicated to explain on here.

I've got the same problem. Brought my HTC Legend to service centre. And they cannot do anything about it. So waiting for software update from HTC.

I have the same problem. This isn't due to any confusion over the time zone (it is winter, I'm in Vancouver and definitely in PST (UTC-8) on my part, but the phone seems confused.

For instance, I have a contact with a birth date of Sep 22 and want to change it to the 23rd. I edit the contact, click on the birth date adjust the wheels to Sep 23, click OK and the date (on the edit screen) goes back to Sep 22! If I save this contact, the date still says Sep 22.

However, I have another contact with a birth date of Feb 5. I edit the contact and the birth date is displayed as Feb 4, so I adjust it to Feb 5, click OK and the date (on the edit screen) goes back to Feb 4. If I then save the contact, the displayed date is Feb 5!

I thought this might be a leap-year issue, but the year makes no difference. I change my Date/Time settings from Automatic to Manual and set my time zone to UTC+0, then all this weird behavior goes away!

Unfortunately, after getting the birth dates straight in UTC+00, they go back to their original weird behavior when I got back to UTC-8. I can't figure out why there are two separate scenarios. I am going to try setting birth dates in Gmail-Contacts and see what happens.

It would be hassle, but you could try a couple things:

1) Export and then import your contacts and see if it does anything, although I would suspect it wouldn't.

2) Or make a new contact and set the correct birthday up right away.
