You can get many version of Froyo and also Gingerbread. I ran several Stock Froyo builds with no issues and also Desire (Sense) builds as well. I am currently running CyanogenMod 7 (Gingerbread) with no issues on the HD2.
Personally, I go with NAND builds, but try some others out if you want.
