Problems after upgrading to Android 1.6
I have a Vodafone/Google branded HTC Magic that I purchased last week here in New Zealand. It came with Android 1.5 preinstalled. All was working well until today, when it upgraded to version 1.6. (The upgrade was downloaded automatically by the phone and I was prompted to install it, which I agreed to.)
Now core features of the phone no longer work, in particular it no longer recognises the Vodaphone mobile network, and I'm unable to reconfigure network settings. If I try to access Settings -> Wireless Controls -> Mobile networks, it responds with "The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
Many other core apps fail with similar messages.
Have other users experienced this? Any idea what the issue is?
1. I have not yet downloaded any apps from the Marketplace, so that is not the issue.
2. When the update was installed, I was in an area of poor cell coverage. I'm wondering if that somehow contributed to the issue.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Model number: HTC MAgic
Firmware version: 1.6
Baseband version: Unknown
Kernel version: 2.6.29-00479-g3c7df37

Thanks in advance ...
