Default Magic wont recognize any sim cards

Hello,

First post. so here goes.

I've searched around the forum and couldnt find anything.

So heres the issue. I've been dying to get myself an android phone for a while now, but no carriers in my country (Ireland) have any affordable ones. So I've been shopping around online. I've found a faulty one on ebay. Its fine except it keeps saying "No Sim Card"

So I was wondering, has anyone had this issue before? And is it something I could repair, or should I keep looking?

Thanks,

Not meaning to be a smartass or anything but maybe that was what was faulty about the phone. Check the sim contacts in the phone and make sure they are clean and that all the pins are there.

Yeah, the seller made it pretty clear that thats why its faulty. I haven't bought it yet, I want to make sure I can repair it before I do. The seller said he's tried using different sims with it to no avail. I though that maybe the frame that holds the sim could be stretch out, so maybe just putting a piece of paper in behind the sim would hold it in, as I've known people with HTC phones thats happened to. Has anyone heard of this ever happening with the magic?

I have an HTC Magic and something similiar has happened to me. I took the sim card out as I dropped the phone off at a repair shop for a new speaker. When the repair guy put the sim card back in it worked. So I walked away and a few minutes later saw that it was not reading the card. The repair guy took the sim out and put it back it. Then it worked. There has been a couple of other times when it did not read the card. I took it out and put it back in, then in worked. My sim card it three years old.
