Automatic internet connection
I'm new to this forum. I received a htc magic that had android 1.5. I upgraded it to android 2.1 and put my sim card in it.
Few days ago, I received the first bill ouch..... 185€ for 136Mb of data connexion.
I removed the APN in the network options. I called the operator which agreed to cancel the bill if we go to a vendor to check the config of the phone. We did it, and the seller told us that the APN removed was ok (he tried a connexion which ended with an error : no internet connexion) but that it is not enough because some application were connecting using directly an APN in the application self. Is it true ??? Never heard of that, even though I'm not an expert.
I asked them to restrict the data connection but they say it is not possible, so my question is : if APN is removed, no way to restrict data connection from the operator, how can I control these automatic connection ?
I saw that there are some apps, like APNdroid which enables/disables data connection, will it also restrict these application from connecting ? (I'm still really surprised how this can happen!!! )
and, while we were in the store, the extra charges did grow from 15€ !! while we even couldn't connect to internet, I'm outraged....
thanks a lot for your help
