Default Silent extension dialing?

I have a new HTC One S, and I noticed that when I dial a contact that has an extension, it plays the keypad tone when it dials. This can be extremely loud when you're wearing a headset. My last phone, a Galaxy S which was running GIngerbread, didn't do this, it would mute when dialing the extension. Does anyone know how to turn this off?
