Default Customize Text Message Ringtone

I'm wondering if you can select your own ringtone for a text message and new emails?

I've gone to Messaging -> Settings -> Notification -> Notification Sound. From there, I see a list of various sound effects that came with my phone. I don't see any option for me to select my own.

Get a ringtone maker from Google Play, with those you can usually choose which ringtone you want to make it into (notification, ringer, etc)
I used https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.herman.ringtonethat one to make a System Of a Down ringer.
