Phone vibrates with incoming e-mails even though e-mail notifications are OFF

I love my new HTC One S. However, it is getting on my nerves. It vibrates each time I receive an e-mail. I have Yahoo Mail set up through the built-in mail app. I went into Settings and turned E-mail notifications OFF, and yet the damn thing still vibrates with each new e-mail!

I thought maybe another app was the problem. I had installed the Yahoo Mail app published by Yahoo. So I uninstalled it. Made no difference, the buzzing continues.

Any tips??
