Default new sd card questions?

I just bought a new sd card, the phone see the sd card storage but i was not able to move my photos or apps to sd card. I did not format the new sd card, do i need to format the new sd card?

It's a good idea to format the SD card from the phone under Settings > Storage.

To move your items from the phone's internal memory to the sd card, you'll need a good file explorer like ES File Explorer. Then you'll need to move them from /mnt/emmc/ to /mnt/sdcard.
