Default Can you wake the phone without using the power button?

is there a way to come out of sleep mode w/o pressing power? i'd rather just touch the screen to wake it up. my phone is not rooted.

Yes of course, let me press the button for you... No seriously: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wildroid.wake.up.screen

I'd rather use this app with caution, shaking is one of the major causes of electronic equipment failure...
